B ULLETIN THE OPEN BIBLE

In just a few short months we will be welcoming ladies from all over Canada and the US onto our campus for another sweet time of fellowship, learning from the Word and growing together as we spend a packed full 22 hours of worship during our Wild In All His Ways conference this year! We are so excited to be welcoming back our dear friend, Peg Forrest! Peg’s passion is for living out her calling to teach and disciple women of all ages, whether through the spoken or written word. Peg leans on her years of "on-the-job-training" as a missionary in Kenya, counselor, Bible study teacher, and as Dean of Women at Arizona Christian University to share Jesus-relevantstories that draw women into deeper intimacy and a more secure identity in their Saviour. Peg considers herself a simple woman with a simple message to which ladies everywhere can relate and be encouraged.

Peg and her husband, Bay, a 6' 10" former NBA center for the Phoenix Suns, began FOCUS Ministries in 1992 on their return from Africa and travel world-wide, using their life stories and experiences to share the gospel with a Fresh Outlook Centering Upon the Saviour.

In her extra time, Peg loves to ride horses with her husband in the National Forest behind her Colorado home, paddle board/ kayak, or simply sit and read on her back porch with a cup of coffee. We know you will enjoy her clear, encouraging, biblical approach as she shares with us during four sessions.

Our committee is busy at work getting prepared for your arrival! Please make sure to register at nbbi.ca/ladies. We have t-shirts again this year. If you would like to purchase one, you can do so when you register.

Can’t wait to see all the Lord has for us as we explore how He Is Wild In All His Ways!

Congratulations Class of 2025!

Common Folks

After my retirement from NBBI, I was approached to see if I would be interested in working casually at a local funeral home. I looked at this as an opportunity to be more involved in my community now that I had more time on my hands. I thought, “Let’s give it a try.”

Several weeks ago, I was called in to assist at a large funeral. Unlike a prior funeral, where I ushered in two senators, several lawyers and other government officials and dignitaries, this funeral brought in more people from the area. Yes, there were some “important” people, but also several everyday, ordinary, “common” folks. It was my job, or more my “desire”, to do the best job I could to make these people feel comfortable and welcome during this solemn occasion. As time progressed and we squeezed people into almost every seat available, I glanced at those seated as I walked up and down the aisles and was warmed by the many faces smiling up at me. I had made connections by performing small gestures of kindness. And now, as my mind thinks back on that funeral, I ask God to help me love these people as He does. Let my menial task as an usher show my fellow Carleton County residents that my God loves and comforts the ordinary, common folk and let them know that I care!

Who knows what God has planned for that man or woman I just seated? Can my influence lead him or her to Christ? Am I gently rubbing shoulders with the next Billy Graham, D.L. Moody, Amy Carmichael or Elizabeth Elliot? Pray for me as I seek to serve Jesus Christ in this simple, special way and I will pray for you as you serve Him in your own simple, special way.

“For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, so that, as it is written, ‘Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.’” - 1 Corinthians 1:2631

We are excited to announce the newest addition to our NBBI staff family. Colby Long and his wife, Cyan, joined our staff in June. Colby is a 2022 graduate of NBBI, and he and Cyan have two children. The need for a recruitment department is vital, and Colby will be stepping into this important role. He will establish connections with potential students through personal outreach, teen retreats, College for a Day, Christian schools, youth groups, and more. Colby’s arrival comes at a crucial time, and we believe this new role is essential for the future growth of NBBI. Please pray for Colby as he navigates this new position and for his family as they adjust to their new surroundings.
