Truck collides with school bus

Holley Navarre Fire Department firefighters extricated Colton Boney from his 2007 GMC Sierra Pickup truck after it collided with a stationery school bus carrying 15 students home from Navarre High School. Fire Chief Ron Norton held an umbrella to keep the rain from hitting Colton in the face as he was loaded on the gurney for transport to an area hospital. Colton’s passenger, Anthony Paone was listed in the FHP report as having no injuries. However, two students from the bus were transported to area hospitals with minor injuries. RESTORE consultant bids reviews By Yvonne C. Harper Navarre Press Six finalists will vie to be Santa Rosa County’s RESTORE Act consultant, the county commission decided at an April 11 meeting. Nine companies submitted proposals to advise the county on the Resources and Ecosystem Sustainability, Tourist Opportunity and Revived Economies of the Gulf States Act of 2011. The six finalists are: ARCADIS U.S. Inc.; Atkins; Baskerville-Donovan, Inc.; CH2M HILL; Environmental Consulting and Technology, Inc; and Tetra Tech.

Commissioners discuss penny tax to fund courthouse By Romi White Navarre Press Santa Rosa County commissioners discussed pursuing a local option sales tax to fund a new judicial center at the April 22 commission committee meeting. “We need to get this ball rolling,”said Commissioner Bob Cole, who had requested the issue be placed on the agenda for discussion.
