På et søkort over Helnæs Bugten ses det tydeligt, at helt oppe i den nordvestligste ende strækker en dybderende sig ind forbi Skarris Odde og fortsætter rundt om den lille ø Fiskeholm. Havørrederne følger kanterne af denne rende og føres helt op i bunden af bugten ved det lille fiskerleje Brunshuse. Den lille bugt byder på fremragende vinterfiskeri, og kun islægning kan sætte en stopper for festen. Du kan vadefiske hvor som helst, fra Brunshuse rundt i bunden af bugten ved Helnæs Vej og videre helt ud til Skarris Odde. Bunden er forholdsvis fast, men grå og kedelig. Nøjagtig som havørrederne elsker det i den kolde tid.
On a chart of Helnæs Bugten bay, a deep channel can be seen plainly right up at the northwestern end, extending in past Skarris Odde isthmus and continuing around the little island of Fiskeholm. The sea trout follow the edges of this channel, which takes them all the way up the bottom of the bay near the little fishing hamlet of Brunshuse. In the winter, this little bay offers fantastic fishing. The only thing that can spoil it is if it ices over. But fishing can start the day the ice breaks up. You can wade and fish wherever you like from Brunshuse around the bottom of the bay by the road called Helnæs Vej, continuing right out to the Skarris Odde point. The bottom is relatively solid, but grey and ‘boring’ and apparently nothing special. Just how the sea trout like it during the cold months.
Die lange seichte Innenseite – die Ostseite – von Helnæs ist ein interessantes Gebiet, wenn Sie einmal neue Herausforderungen suchen. Hier sind nicht viele Angler unterwegs, was wohl daran liegt, dass es fast unmöglich ist, an dem langen, gleichförmigen Abschnitt im Voraus besondere Hotspots auszumachen. Reines „Maschinenangeln“ ist hier die richtige Taktik, also viele Würfe und viel Bewegung. Sie waten weit ins Wasser hinaus und bewegen sich abwechselnd über Sand, Seegras und Muschelbänke. Das mag etwas einförmig wirken, aber damit treffen Sie ganz plötzlich auf den Meerforellenschwarm. Beißt ein Fisch unter der Mindestgröße an, dann drillen Sie zügig und setzen ihn so schnell wie möglich wieder aus. Anschließend machen Sie schnell einen neuen Wurf. Dort draußen befinden sich immer weitere Exemplare, die nicht alle untermäßig sind.
