WHAT’S HAPPENING AT THE CARNIVAL THIS YEAR? Saturday 20th September - Show Opens at 9.30am 9.30am - 4.30pm: The Exhibition The Carnival includes an exhibition featuring top industry manufacturers, suppliers and advisors from within and outside the Association. (See opposite page for full details of each exhibiting company. See page 9 of this guide for exhibition floor plan).

10.30am - 3.00pm: The Seminars We are also running a number of seminars, on a wide range of relevant subjects, all hosted by industry experts. (See page 14 of this guide for full information on seminars, including locations and start times).

Video: ‘From Glasgow Green to Bendigo’ There will be a short film, running at hourly intervals throughout the day, within the exhibition hall, starting at 11.00am with the last showing at 3.00pm.

The film, ‘From Glasgow Green to Bendigo’, is an 18 minute video about carpet manufacturing at the Templetons factory in Glasgow in the 1960's and 70's, including the manufacture of Chenille carpet.

Activities and Entertainment Situated within the exhibition hall there will be activities to keep the children entertained throughout the day, including games and face painting, together with magic performed by excellent close-up and cabaret magician, John Martin... something for the whole family to enjoy!

Women’s Interest Stalls Also situated within the exhibition hall will be women’s interest stalls and services, with various products and crafts for sale.

Auction There will be an auction in the exhibition hall at 4.05pm, run by NCCA member John Bryden. All proceeds will go to the charity Kirsty’s Kids.

The charity is currently working with underprivileged children to teach them the benefits of learning to create things themselves, using the materials around them, and how satisfying this can be.

John has recently created his own loom and is using it to weave carpet utilising traditional weaving methods. This project has now become an integral part of his current work with Kirsty's Kids.

At the Carnival this year John will be displaying his loom, so if you are interested in learning how to hand-knot your own rugs with your own handmade loom (and John's current work with Kirsty's Kids), pop along to their stand and have a chat.

FULL SEMINAR INFORMATION: TRUSTMARK - Glyn Charnock (Chameleon Cleaning) Glyn, who is Training Director and Company Secretary at the NCCA, will be hosting a short presentation on TrustMark, the Government Approved Standards Scheme for tradesmen working within consumers’ homes.

The presentation will include: ŸWhat is TrustMark? ŸWhy have the NCCA become Scheme Operator for the TrustMark Carpet Cleaner category? ŸWhat are the benefits of being TrustMark accredited? ŸHow to join and what it costs.

This will be demonstrated on a variety of carpet surfaces, with a selection of stains, and on rug fringes (to demonstrate dye removal). He will be using heat and ultraviolet light as well as oxidising and reducing bleaches.

You will see what works and what can go wrong.

Wicksteed Park Venue And Facilities Wicksteed is a very popular day out destination for families. It was one of the first Leisure Parks in the UK and is also an English Heritage Grade II Listed Park and Garden.
