YOTEL GENEVA

THE HOTEL

was part of the interior design team at YOTEL Geneva, a landmark project for YOTEL as it marked their first property in Switzerland and served as a flagship for the company. This project was not only one of the largest undertaken by YOTEL but also a comprehensive design and build endeavour, emphasising innovation and modernity.

In my role as one of the Interior Designers, I was deeply involved in the creative and technical aspects of the project. My responsibilities included developing key visuals, detailed drawings, and innovative designs for several crucial areas of the hotel, including the lounge, check-in, reception, and breakfast area.

Selecting key FF&E items to meet the YOTELS brand standards and looks was done, worked closely with the project design manager to ensure work was done on budget and keeping to the projects programme.

We began with extensive meetings to understand YOTEL brand standards, and the functional needs of the new property. This stage was crucial for setting the foundation of the design, ensuring it would align with both the YOTEL expectations and the hotel’s operational requirements.

During this phase, we developed the overall design concept, focusing on innovation and modernity. This included creating mood boards, colour schemes, and initial 3D Renders to convey the intended atmosphere and style. We aimed to blend YOTEL’s futuristic brand ethos with elements that would resonate with the Swiss context.

FINAL FLOOR PLAN

YOTEL LONDON CITY - 2025 INSTALL

BRIEF

The existing ground floor of YOTEL London City, presents a disconnected guest experience. The space needs softening against the architectural materials such as stone and tile. While it functions adequately during breakfast, it struggles to retain guests throughout the day.

The interior task involves striking a balance between aesthetics and functionality, softening the architectural rigidity of the space with thoughtful additions of lighting, art, and furniture variety. Our goal is to create a seamless journey throughout our public areas, drawing inspiration from our locality and heritage while staying true to the YOTEL non-stop brand.

THE WORKS

Create a street presence front & rear

Enhance sellable spaces not a bad seat in the house

Attract & retain guests day to night

Enhance operational efficiencies in F&B space

Soften interior

Improve YOTEL check-in experience

Provide a coherent design narrative

A selecting of FF&E items, full spatial design, decoration, artwork and accessories to be done for this project. My role was helping with the design of the new space including the design of new bespoke high booths and other joinery items, creating key visuals and selection of FF&E.

THE WORKS

YOTEL Boston needed to change the existing restaurant to the new VELA branding which the concept and appearance helped work on. We wanted to use the huge natural lighting that bleeds through the interior and give the VELA Cosmic / Sea Mythology theme whilst keeping it clean and visually luxury. produced a full FF&E selection which included dressing items and full shelving accessories. Floor plans, visuals and moodboards helped us to create the feel and form of this VELA. Other works included Joinery designed self check-in and reception desk. New Banquette on the 4th floor including bespoke joinery piece for displaying merchandise.

Vela showcases welcoming & memorable spaces with attention to every detail. Our interior’s primary function is to support Vela’s outstanding service & enhance the enjoyment of our food & drink.

YOTEL STRATFORD PAD

3D KEY VISUAL

BRIEF

This YOTELPAD has been designed with inspiration from the surrounding area of Stratford. It incorporates key elements from its history, current aesthetics, the Olympics, the railway, and the Industrial Revolution. Mission Control is a crucial part of the guest experience because it is the first interaction guests have with the property. Therefore, the space has been designed to feel welcoming, calm, exciting, and relaxed.

THE WORKS

This project was outsourced to an Interior design firm who worked on the space, however, some added work was needed which included revisiting the visuals and creating 3D Models. I created and reproduced a 3D model based on the drawings sent and their concept visuals as a basis, from that we adapted the space to fit the YOTEL brand. This also included light dressing and new planting options which are to be installed in 2025. This was also done with the bedroom type as we needed the visual to represent the brand standard room design to the finest detail before going ahead.

CONCEPT

Key concepts for the interiors for Mission Control and the entrance area are inspired by the natural beginnings of Stratford, characterised by its agricultural greenery and countryside escape. These concepts are reflected in the space through organic forms and softness, conveyed by the use of plants and natural materials that contrast with the tones from strong industrial influences. This creates a warm and calming environment that provides a sense of escape and a feeling of coming home. Raw and urban materials have also been incorporated to connect the space with Stratford’s industrial revolution background.

YOTEL AMSTERDAM

BRIEF

YOTEL Amsterdam was behind the current brand standard of YOTEL and needed its public and dining spaces to be uplifted and revitalised. The property was missing key focal points to really draw guest in, the large open space and fluidity of the lounge and restaurant wasn’t working. Old FF&E items were failing, the property requested a full design change.

THE WORKS

worked on key aspects of this uplift, designing and drafting the joinery elements of a new bar top with planting, new banquette seating and hanging joinery mirrors to walls and the ceiling. These items were presented via floor plans, joinery details and elevations.

Visuals were created using Photoshop to add the new designs to existing photos. the FF&E selection was designed to incorporate the soft pastels and colours of the external deck to connect the two spaces together and give a curvaceous flow to the space.

BARNES ESTATES APARTMENT

BRIEF

Barnes Estate agents reached out to my current studio, needing one of their properties to have FF&E of the living room space. The property is on the market for £11,210,000 and is situated in Westminster, the large 4 room property is a huge statement, with dark interiors. The concrete flooring and open beamed roof gave it a warehouse style, with the kitchen and dining room being in steel with a contemporary style. I was given the brief and was the lead interior designer for this project with an assistant designer, to manage the fabrics, production, furniture choice, finishes and accessories.

THE WORKS

For the living room, chose chrome and steel finishes for the space, a contemporary rug and curved sofa to bring direction to the space. The sofas also open and close the space when sitting on the sofas, as they both look towards each other inviting people to formally sit. A reading nook was included to utilise the view and the openings as the natural light brightens the space. The black marble finishes, contrast with the silver finishes and compliment the black fabric sofas.

A second option was designed to use the currents tenants furniture to help sell the property, which was the chosen option, had to still plan the floor plan and create visuals for approval.

MIRAM HOUSE

DESIGN

Miram House was a significant project in Cockfosters, involving the design of a large three-bedroom apartment. Commissioned by estate agents seeking a luxury and timeless style to complement the building’s grand architecture, the project included producing 3D renders, floor plans, and full FF&E (furniture, fixtures, and equipment) selection. The design covered the kitchen, seating, all three bedrooms, and the living space, ensuring a cohesive and elegant aesthetic throughout..

Luxury and Timeless Style: Create an interior that exudes luxury and sophistication, with a timeless design that enhances the architectural grandeur of Miram House.

Cohesive Aesthetic: Ensure a harmonious and consistent design throughout the apartment, with each space flowing seamlessly into the next.

Functional Elegance: Combine functionality with elegance, ensuring that each area is not only beautiful but also practical and comfortable for daily living. Coordinated with contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth execution of the design plan.

The Miram House project in Cockfosters resulted in a beautifully designed three-bedroom apartment that seamlessly blends luxury, functionality, and timeless style. The cohesive and elegant aesthetic achieved throughout the space not only meets but exceeds the clients’ expectations, adding significant value to the property and enhancing its appeal to potential buyers.

VEILED GALLERY

MAJOR STUDY BRIEF

Exploration on how our Cities have been affected by the limitations on social interaction and distancing incurred during the last 14 months of COVID-19, and how Greenspaces have become the new focal place for social gathering, interaction and entertainment.

NEW CIVIC space: Observation and investigation of where people can meet, gather, interact, socialise and feel secure.

PERSONAL CONCEPT

The creation of a space that praises and explores the perception of the individual within that space, a public open gallery, cafe, studio and living space. The site is located in Colwick Park in Nottingham, this is a large open natural site, with a lake, wildlife and protected vegetation.

The concept of this project was to create a Gallery that would hide within this protected site and blend into its surroundings. The Gallery is submerged into the terrain with three key galleries Light, Dark and Landscape. The Galleries function is for the audience to experience the perceptions and art of others that have been produced on the site.

To create a connection with the site and the project, to bring the public to this site and to experience the impact this hidden gallery space has on its surroundings.

LIGHT GALLERY - A large open exhibition space with large amounts of natural light - for sculptures / large exhibitions

DARK GALLERY - The audience will view the artist perception of Colwick park in the negative version of the light open space, in a compact dark space.

LANDSCAPE GALLERY - The Landscape Gallery will represent the Colwick landscape mixed with art, this will be done by exposing the viewer to the landscape within the art space, to contrast the two different aspects of the space

PASSIVE SPACE

DIPLOMA BRIEF

No.6 Victoria Street, in Nottingham has had many different functions in the past, but it was formally constructed as MidlandBank which was built with grand and elegant features to its design to showcase the cities projecting wealth. Its last occupant in 2016 was a high street fashion retailer and due to recent economic situations the building has been left vacant for a long period of time. Leaving such a large and central space in the heart of Nottingham vacant and missing from the busy atmosphere of the city, a new opportunity is needed to create a new space within the city.

PERSONAL CONCEPT

Passive Space includes an interactive passive obscura, which is the entrance to the exhibition spaces, visitors will enter the passive obscura and will experience the light and shadows within the space. A slim slit within the obscura will have multiple slats installed in the opening, on the other side a lighting rig of multiple lights will shine through the opening. Creating multiple angles and overlays of light.

When in the obscura you will experience the movement and interaction of people on the other side of the obscura, their silhouettes will be projected into the space, creating new and different movements of shadow and lights every time someone steps in.

The Passive Obscura puts the viewer in the eye of a camera, watching the movement through it lens, focusing on certain areas the reaction to shadows and change of light. The obscura gives the experience of random outcomes and possibilities that are uncertain and viewed different from each person who interacts, similar to the use of a film camera, not knowing its outcome of the final piece.

The space also includes photography/artist studios and an exhibition space to showcase the photography. It also includes a small cafe and viewing platform at the heart of the space.

THE OBSCURA CONCEPT + DESIGN

The camera obscura is an integral part to understanding how modern day photography developed and how some artists worked. A camera obscura is a darkened enclosure that has an aperture usually provided with a lens through which light from external objects enters to form an image of the objects on the opposite surface.

When connecting the concept of unconscious photography and performance, Passive Space installed a form within the heart of the space. This form is used as a viewing platform, for viewers to walk around experiencing the space they are in.
