VinkoMöderndorfer (born 22 September 1958) is a Slovene writer, poet, playwright and theatre and film director.

Möderndorfer was born in Celje in 1958. He studied at the Academy for Theatre, Radio, Film and Television in Ljubljana and worked in numerous theatre companies around Slovenia. He started writing poetry in the late 1970s and since the early 1980s also published numerous works of prose, essays and drama as well as poetry and stories for children.

In 2000 he won the Prešeren Foundation Award for his book of short stories Nekatere ljubezni (Some Loves). In 2003 he received the Rožanc Award for Gledališče v

ogledalu (The Theatre in a Mirror).

BOOK SUMMARY The story would not be right if nothing complicated.

Gašper is constantly getting into situations with his classmates. Well, in fact, he himself is a very quiet guy, but Pero, Jola and Žele are constantly tiring and tracking him at every turn. But things are getting complicated at home.

His father is never at home, while his mother sits in the kitchen all day and stares out the window. Gašper deals with questions about whether his mom is a drug addict, or maybe his parents are spies. It turns out that none of this is true. They are quarrelling, and on her good day Mom leaves.

Dad drives GaĹĄper to stay with a friendly giant, who lives almost at the end of the world, for a few days. GaĹĄper finds himself in a violet cabin in the middle of a forest full of books. The giant has a pig instead of a dog, talks to birds and chickens. He invents strange recipes, such as on the garlic of the sprinkled sponge with fresh strawberries and a piece of butter. And, oh, the horror, he has no television and no Internet. GaĹĄper thus becomes aware of a completely different way of life, gets to know himself and discovers the secret that connects his parents, him and the friendly giant.

GAĹ PER - the main character Nearly 12-year-old GaĹĄper is a handsome and curious boy.

He likes to surf the Internet, and with movies and music he spreads the horizons of his imagination. He has one best friend and a girl he secretly likes, but does not hang out with her in person and only talks to her via Skype.
