To ensure that individuals of all abilities can access the therapy center The Seven Principles of Universal Design include:
1 Equitable use
2. Flexibility in use
3. Simple and intuitive,
4 Perceptible information
5 Tolerance for error
6 Low physical effort,
7 Size and space for approach
The Tree of Life itself is a profound symbol of rebirth, growth, and interconnectedness interpreted across various cultures, universally representing rebirth This emblematic tree represents the harmonious relationship between mind, body, and spirit from its deep roots, supportive trunk, and sweeping branches. It symbolizes the fundamental nourishment and connection that sustain us from the very beginning of life The center’s design will intricately incorporate this symbolism, creating a holistic and nurturing environment where elements are thoughtfully integrated to promote full body healing and encourage users’ well-being.
Inspired by the Ancient Tree of Life’s mirrored branches and roots, intertwined by a neutral trunk Levels 1 and 3's functionality is mirrored while Level 2 serves as a neutral connection This Parti specifically focuses on private vs public spaces within the project Levels 1 and 3 are reserved for private spaces such as counseling offices, breakout/quiet spaces, and administrative offices These levels will foster a safe, quiet space for users to focus on their individual therapy and feel comfortable discussing their personal issues Level 2 holds space for more public spaces such as the physical therapy gym, food court, yoga studio, and large group therapy rooms This level will focus on creating community within users, encouraging them to share with one another and form relationships, as well as getting active and creative The separation will benefit acoustically as well for quieter levels to remain so while the more public level allows for communication without disrupting others Similar to the tree of life, the top and bottom mirror one another while the middle represents strength and provides a core to connect the two
