New highnesses at Küska revealed Swakopmund is now in the hands of the jesters of the Swakopmund Karneval (Küska). With much excitement, the new Prince and Princess were revealed during the 'Prinzenball' on Friday evening.

As is customary, Swakopmund Mayor Paulina Nashilundo handed over the key to the town to Prinz Lohmi, der I, der sportliche Spaßvogel (Marko Lohmeier) and to Prinzessin Bonnie, die I, die Angelnixe (Bonnie Doll). The carnival continued with the children's carnival 'Küskika' on Saturday and the 'Damenabend' on Monday. The Mixed Evening on Wednesday. Entrance tickets for the mixed evening are still available at the Swakopmunder Buchhandlung. Another highlight
will form the 'German Büttenabend' on Thursday (23 June). The Karneval will conclude over the coming weekend with the fancy dress party 'Maskenball' on Friday followed by the annual street procession on Saturday and 'Kehraus' thereafter. The 'Küska' committee invites the public to take part in the annual float procession on Saturday and reminds you of some great prizes up for grabs. There is no fee to take part, but the best decorated float will be rewarded with a N$5000 cash prize. For the 2nd and 3rd place cash prizes of N$3000 and N$2000 are up for grabs respectively. The 'Küska' committee further wishes to remind the public that the entrance fee for the fancy dress party 'Maskenball' is N$60 and that no under 18 year old's will be allowed. ID's will have to be produced on request. Costumes are a must. CHAIN will as usual be present at the entrance and do facepainting for those who didn't manage to acquire a costume. The best costumes will also be rewarded: The Best Male and Female Costume will receive a cash prize to the value of N$1250 respectively. The best Couple/Pair Costume will receive N$2500, while the best group (more than three people) will receive N$5000.
