Your Community Updates

Come rain or shine, your community undergoes several improvements and upgrades all through the year. Here is a slice of all that was planned and undertaken in and around your neighbourhood in 2024.

Signs Lead the Way

66 new monumental, wayfinding and instructional signage grace the common areas of Jumeirah Islands at the main roundabouts, major street intersections, key community amenities and strategic vantage points.

The new signs feature updated, modern designs that are thoughtfully crafted to improve visibility, enhance navigation and refresh the overall aesthetic of our community spaces.

With clear fonts, brighter colours and infographic designs, these signage bearing rules and regulations communicate important messages effectively. With crisp content and information, these boards are aimed at building a better recall amongst residents about the local guidelines.

Meanwhile, the directional signage were carefully developed with the aim of reducing confusion and increasing safety, while guiding motorist and visitors effortlessly to their destinations.

These freestanding precast structures and pole-mounted signs are well-positioned and offer clarity to visitors and residents alike.

Jumeirah Islands

Transformed Pathways

1,500 metres of interlock paving works were completed to enhance the functionality and appearance of the intra-community pathways, allowing for a more visually appealing experience for all.

This upgrade not only beautifies our surroundings but also supports the long-term sustainability of the community’s interlock network. The newly restored pathways promise safer strides and a walk to remember as you explore your community on foot.

Greenscapes in Bloom

With a new season upon us, across the Jumeirah Islands community, we have carried out sustainable planting works across 25 clusters, spanning more than 30,000 sqm area to improve the aesthetics of the community street view.

Warmly welcoming residents and visitors are pastel pink Chinese violets, chaste tree shrubs and manicured lawns. Dense sea purslane carpets brighten the areas next to the cluster roundabout areas and community streetscapes, best appreciated in Clusters 28 and 35, while lush bushes of fountain grass now paint Jumeirah Islands’ streets.

Aging date palms at the cluster roundabouts gave way to younger replacements as they took root in the neighbourhood, creating a refreshing and welcoming environment for residents and visitors.

Shaded pathways add to the area’s appeal while contributing to a cooler, more sustainable outdoor space. Handpicked by our landscaping experts for their ability to bloom in the UAE climate and supported by smart irrigation, these floral and tree cover species contribute to the harmonious blend of greenery and structure for motorists and residents navigating the neighbourhood.

Polished Waterfront Oasis

Two lakes within the community underwent stunning improvements, transforming them into polished waterfront oases for all to enjoy. Among the two key enhancements were the new stone pitching works and the installation of new handrails that have significantly elevated the beauty, safety and accessibility of our lakeside areas.

As part of the first notable upgrade, carefully placed stonework now lines the lakeshore, providing a visually appealing and stable foundation but most importantly aimed at preventing erosion. This ensures that the lakefront remains peaceful and picturesque for years to come.

The new smooth and sturdy lake handrails focus on safety and accessibility, providing vital support along the walking paths and ensuring that passersby regardless of age or mobility, can safely enjoy the lakeside views. Together, these improvements make the lakes in our residential community more enjoyable and accessible, creating a serene environment that everyone can appreciate and experience with confidence.

Smooth Ride Ahead

A stretch of 1,780 metres across the community roads was restored with asphalt works in the last few months with the primary goal of improving road safety, enhancing driving comfort, and preserving the overall quality of our infrastructure.

Aimed towards maintaining smooth road surfaces, preventing further deterioration and reducing the risk of accidents caused by cracks, this restoration work covered several key routes, ensuring that residents and visitors benefit from safer, more comfortable travel.

Neighbourhood Knowhows

Be a Good Neighbour

It’s a wonderful time to reflect on how you could contribute to a positive and happy collective community living experience in your neighbourhood. Save these recommendations that topped our charts and share it with your circle.

Keep it Cordial

Lend a smile and a simple hello to a neighbour you encounter on that evening walk or even the security personnel or service provider who helps you with an enquiry.

Bring Down the Volume

Avoid throwing a big noisy bash or turning up the music to deafening decibels after 10pm or reasonable hours. No neighbour wants to be privy to your loud conversations or arguments.

Park

Appropriately

Park only in driveways or parking spaces that are assigned to you or in zones reserved for parking – do not encroach the neighbour’s spot or run your wheels on the sidewalk or grass. For added safety, always park in reverse in your garage port so that you have a clear field of vision when exiting.

Stay Sustainable

Practice reducing waste, recycling more, making eco-friendly choices and conserving energy.

Avoid littering outside your property and put your trash in the designated bins and areas. Go green and inspire your household, especially the younger folk to embrace it.

Respect

Thy Neighbour

If you are having a problem with a neighbour, try first to resolve the situation peacefully in person with respect and understanding –this goes a long way.

Referring the Community Rules as a great reference point could help - for what’s allowed and not allowed within and outside your property. Reach out to your community management team if you still need help resolving or reaching a common ground.

Remembering these community rules help cultivate an open line of communication amongst your diverse pool of neighbours and sustains friendships for a long time to come.

Being Water-Wise

Water conservation is a shared responsibility that begins within our communities. By implementing water-wise practices, each home can make a significant impact. We believe that starting a conversation about mindful water use can initiate a ripple effect creating a cumulative impact in residents’ daily lives.

Below are a few practical ways to reduce your household’s water consumption and subsequently, even manage your water bills

Install water-efficient appliances

▶ Low-flow or dual-flush toilets

▶ Water-saving showerheads

▶ Energy-efficient washing machines and dishwashers (look out for an A-rated energy label)

▶ Aerators on faucets and showerheads

Reduce water usage

▶ Shorten showers

▶ Fully load washing machine or dishwasher

▶ Use greywater for gardening

Optimise irrigation systems

▶ Drip irrigation

▶ Rainwater harvesting

Fix leaks promptly

These tips would be particularly helpful in reducing your water consumption and associated utility charges, in light of the recent revisions in the nation-wide sewerage tariffs.

Hot Tip

Install smart water meters if you do not have them already (recommended by DEWA) and use the linked smart applications to monitor both current and historical detailed readings to keep a tab on your home’s consumption.
