From the Chief Community Management Officer's Desk

Dear Resident,

As school doors close, summer arrives with its promise of adventure and togetherness. This season of sunshine and new beginnings is the perfect moment to share exciting news: we’re stepping forward as Dubai Holding Community Management (DHCM).

For years, you’ve known us as creators of some of Dubai’s most vibrant communities. We have now united our legacy with a renewed commitment: to deliver seamless service, foster deeper connections and ensure every resident feels a true sense of belonging.

The announcement of 2025 as the Year of Community couldn’t be more timely. It’s a reminder that the real strength of our neighbourhoods lies in the people who call them home.

This vision inspires us to listen more closely, serve more meaningfully and help in shaping thriving, connected communities. With DHCM, we are stronger, smarter and more connected than ever.

Community Spotlight Your neighbourhood has been going through upgrades and enhancements behind the scenes. Check in on how we’ve been sprucing up the surroundings these past months.

New Sporting Courts Serve Up Fun

Your community just got more vibrant and active with the opening of two new MUGA (Multi Use Game Areas) courts and a football pitch, designed to encourage a wider range of recreational activities for all ages.

The MUGA courts feature facilities for volleyball, half-court basketball and tennis and the inauguration was led by the Residents’ Focus Group, who set the tone with a friendly game of tennis.

In addition, the brand-new football ground at Al Furjan East is now ready for action, perfect for friendly matches and building team spirit among neighbours. We have also installed 25 new community and playground signage across the area to provide clear information for residents and visitors and understand playground rules, ensuring a safer and more enjoyable experience for families and individuals alike.

Burst of Blooms

A fresh set of blooms are beaming at Al Furjan with parks in Zones R and E now featuring an impressive collection of 4,428 flowering plants and trees, brightening an area of 1,070 sqm.

Enjoy vibrant bougainvillea, showy bleeding-heart flowers, fragrant chaste trees, eye-catching ruellia and jatrophas, golden trumpet and trumpetbush trees forming a green canopy across your neighbourhood. Eight new ornamental trees including the flamboyant flame trees and the versatile neem trees were planted along your daily walks and trails.

This lush, green landscape creates a beautiful environment for the whole community to enjoy throughout the summer, making Furjan an even more inviting place to call home.

Convenience Around the Corner

In our efforts to help keep your community clean and sustainable, 11 new durable metal recycling stations have replaced the former wooden stations to last longer and serve you better. Residents are encouraged to continue to dispose of their recyclables responsibly at these stations to help keep our neighbourhood clean and environmentally friendly.

Good news for pet owners! Eight new dog waste bins installed along the main roads of Al Furjan West, complete with easy-tofollow instructions to make picking up after your furry friends hassle-free.

Slowing Down for Safety

The community is pleased to welcome a brand-new table hump installed along the route from Arbor School to the Al Furjan West pavilion. This much-needed addition is designed to calm traffic and encourage safer driving speeds, making the journey safer and more comfortable for pedestrians and residents alike.

Additionally, to prioritise the safety of our children and create a caring, secure neighbourhood around Arbor School, new speed limits and vivid road markings have been carefully installed along the route leading to the school in Al Furjan West. These eye-catching signs act as gentle reminders for drivers to reduce their speed and remain alert, ensuring a safer journey for all our young pedestrians. Together, let’s continue to nurture a community where everyone feels safe and valued.

Food Waste Composting Pilot Project Takes Root

Aimed at transforming household food waste into nutrient-rich compost for Al Furjan’s landscapes, an innovative four-month food waste composting pilot project was launched among a small selection of homes in Al Furjan.

The initiative was a collaboration between Dubai Holding and sustainable start-up, The Waste Lab, reflecting our shared commitment to sustainable living. The project delivered promising results, turning everyday waste into valuable resources while reducing landfill contributions. This success highlights our dedication to pioneering growth and building a sustainable future for our community, one compost bin at a time.

HOW PARTICIPANTS MADE AN IMPACT

1,322 kg of food waste successfully diverted from landfill

231 kg of nutrient-rich compost produced for our community garden

1077 kg of CO₂ emissions emissions prevented, equivalent to taking 3 cars off the road for a month

35% of compost bin contamination came from non-food waste – let us do better to reduce it

Moments Captured Interactive Recycling Event

In celebration of Recycling Day and Earth Day, DHCM, in collaboration with Green Arabia hosted an engaging sustainability event on 25 April. Residents of all ages took part in a hands-on seedball-making activity using clay, compost and seeds.

It was an enjoyable and educational experience that promoted reforestation and environmental responsibility. The event also featured exciting giveaways and practical home recycling tips, empowering attendees to adopt more sustainable habits.

It’s the Year of Community, a time to strengthen bonds, foster unity and build inclusive neighbourhoods and Sumesh Nair is right at the heart of it all.

As a passionate community management pro, Sumesh and his team strive to transform community concerns into real solutions. Get to know the person behind your community’s positive changes.

How it began?

With an academic background in Electronics and Electrical Engineering, I developed a strong interest in Facilities Management as it allowed me to apply my technical expertise to support onsite FM teams in resolving both hard and soft service-related issues. Over the years, I’ve moved from managing Jointly Owned Properties (JOPs) to overseeing Master Communities.

Recall a proud moment

A proud moment for me was resolving a complex technical issue with a service provider. Through constructive collaboration and clear communication, we were able to clarify responsibilities, leading to a prompt corrective action and a positive outcome for all parties involved.

Your idea of ‘community’

It is all about relationships, bonding with those using the shared spaces and making services rendered to community users are worthwhile. With 2025 as 'The Year of Community', my role is special in uniting families in our community by creating a sense of belonging, shared experiences and help foster social ties in the events that we do.

What people think you do v/s What you really do

Many people assume my role is purely operational. While maintaining the community is a key aspect, it’s only part of the role. My work also involves planning community enhancements, organising social and sustainability-focused events, and continuously improving the overall resident experience.

Secret sauce for staying inspired

Outside of work, I love outdoor sports and actively ride a bicycle and play volleyball. On the artistic side, I try my hand at a bit of art, painting to be specific. These keep me balanced as it is a good mix of work and play.

They have a bakery and special breakfast menu and when paired with the tranquil Dubai Creek views, each visit promises to be a fresh and memorable experience.

Friendly Reminder Zone

As temperatures rise, let’s remember the hardworking service providers who keep our community thriving, often spending long hours outdoors under the sun. A simple gesture, like allowing a midday break when scheduling services around lunchtime and offering water when you see them working in the sun can make a big difference.

By showing kindness and consideration, we not only support their wellbeing but also strengthen the spirit of our community. Let’s ensure everyone who cares for our neighbourhood feels cared for in return.

Stub Out the Risk

Cigarette butts may seem harmless, but if not put out completely, they can start dangerous fires- especially when they land on furniture, plants or are tossed into garbage bins. Even a small spark can quickly turn into a big problem inside a building or on a balcony.

Here are four tips to remember for a safer disposal and a safer home.

PUT OUT your cigarette completely before throwing it away. Use an ashtray with water or sand to make sure it’s out.

NEVER TOSS a lit cigarette from your balcony or window. Wind can carry it onto furniture, plants or even another balcony, risking a fire.

THROW OUT

cigarette butts into designated bins when you are out and about.

KEEP FLAMMABLES

AWAY from balconies and windows. Don’t store cartons, wood, paper piles, paint cans, clothes racks or dried out plants in these areas.

Pet- quette for a Pawfect Community

Being a pet parent is a lot of fun, but it also means taking good care of them and being thoughtful of others.

It’s that time of the year when the community pool is the coolest spot in the neighbourhood. But let’s make sure every splash is a safe one with these essential reminders - especially for families with young children.

No Running or Partying

Walk, don't run to avoid slips and falls. Parties are not allowed in the community pool.

Teach Swimming Skills

Enrol children in swimming lessons. Even basic skills can help keep them safer in the water.

Supervision is Key

All swimmers under 12 must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times and stay within arm’s reach to avoid risks of drowning.

Lifeguard Alert

Swimming is only allowed when a lifeguard is on duty.

No Lifeguard?

No swimming!

Pool Timings

Stick to the pool operating hours. This helps us keep the pool sparkling and safe for everyone.

Water Watcher

Designate an adult from your group to watch children in and around the pool especially on busy days - free from phone distractions or books.

Here are a few important and simple rules that will help make our community a great place for pets and people.

Clean Up

After your Pet

Always carry a bag to pick up after your fur pal. Use the dog waste bins around our community for easy disposal.

Register and Vaccinate your Pet

Make sure your pet is registered with Dubai Municipality and has all the right vaccinations.

Keep Your Pet on a Leash

Dogs should always be on a leash in common areas, so everyone feels safe and is in line with local laws.

Extra Care in the Heat

When it’s hot outside, pets can get sick easily. Watch for signs like excessive drooling and avoid walking your pet during the hottest part of the day. Never leave your pet in a car or on a balconythis can be very dangerous.

Jet Set, Don’t Forget

Before you jet off on your summer getaway, make sure your home is S.A.F.E.

Each letter stands for a smart step – making it easy to recall and covers all essentials for a secure home while you’re away.

SECURE

Lock doors, windows, wardrobes and safes. Secure your home with CCTV monitoring and ensure your battery backup is active.

A PPLIANCES & AC

Unplug non-essentials, adjust AC to 24°C.

FOOD & FRIDGE

Empty your fridge and freezer to prevent spoilage.

EMERGENCY PREP

Close the main water valve, arrange pet care, inform a trusted person and community security of your plans.

Wishing you a safe and enjoyable holiday from the Dubai Holding Community Management team.

Home Wellness Check

A little preparation goes a long way in keeping your home safe and comfortable. From beating the heat to keeping pests at bay, here’s your easy guide to a worryfree, well-maintained home this season. Voilà—your summer maintenance checklist!

Beat the Heat with a WellMaintained AC

Keep your AC running smoothly with professional servicing at least twice a year to improve cooling performance and air quality, reduce energy consumption and add more years to its lifespan.

Switch Off and Dry Up

Turn off unused electronics to keep rooms cooler and banish standing water (no mini swimming pools for mosquitoes, please!).

Safety & Shade Check

Make sure smoke and carbon monoxide detectors are working, and dress your windows in light, breezy blinds to keep the sun’s heat out and your home cool.

TIP: Clean AC filters monthly and keep outdoor units clear of dust and debris.

Park it Right, Drive it Light

With families and children often out and about in your community, it’s essential to practice good parking and driving habits to help keep our streets and neighbourhood welcoming and secure.

Designated Spots Only

Avoid blocking driveways, walkways and emergency access.

Observe Speed Limits

Drive slowly, avoid speeding up aisles and wait for barriers before proceeding.

Park Centred

Stay between the lines so others can park comfortably.

Respect Reserved Spaces

Avoid parking at spots for people of determination (if not applicable to you), emergency vehicles or EV charging.

Park Responsibly

It’s unsafe and unfair to neighbours. Ensure car lights are set to auto or on when in garage.

Stay Alert

Be mindful of families, children and strollers—especially when reversing or exiting your parking bay. Move slowly and use your mirrors to help keep everyone safe.
