Australia’s toughest team endurance event, The Kokoda Challenge, is calling on Sunshine Coast locals to participate in the very first Sunshine Coast Kokoda Challenge, encouraging hikers to walk in the footsteps of Australian Diggers during World War II. Held on ANZAC Day weekend, April 23 and 24 the 18-kilometre, 30-kilometre and 48-kilometre courses will traverse through the Sunshine Coast hinterland, with the registered teams raising much-needed funds for Australian youth programs run by the Kokoda Youth Foundation. The Kokoda Challenge CEO, Johllene Elson says the decision to bring The Kokoda Challenge to the Sunshine Coast for the first time comes following the success of last year’s Brisbane and Gold Coast Kokoda Challenge events. GET VACCINATED – DON’T PAY FOR A FAKE COVID-19 CERTIFICATE The Australian Digital Health Agency is warning consumers to be wary of scammers offering the use of online fake vaccination certificate generators. It is highly likely you will be providing your personal information including credit card details to cyber criminals, putting you at risk of identity theft. Personal health information is a valuable commodity on black market web forums and once you lose control of this information, it is extremely difficult to regain. Creating or using fake vaccination certificates is illegal and also endangers the wider community. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Scamwatch service can help if you are concerned you might have been scammed. For full information on COVID-19 vaccination scams go to scamwatch.gov.au/types-ofscams/current-covid-19coronavirus-scams/covid-19-vaccination-scams. Promptly reporting your concerns to Scamwatch may help to limit the damage, protect yourself from further loss, and may help other people as well.
