GO AAC! Sorry maybe I’m a little too enthusiastic, but ARTCOM was so much fun! In our first ever ARTCOM I got to know so many of you guys better and there was some real tough competition. Mr.Bayonet and Mr.Naylor worked so hard to create it and the other officers and I really focused on preparing everything. But most importantly all the other Art Academy Club members competed like never before! Believe it or not, I designed the majority of the magazine wearing a snuggie and listening to “Creative Sountrack”s on YouTube. I really appreciate all the support so far and I hope you guys enjoy this issue and continue to support us.

s a student at TBT, I’ve always felt I didn’t have .many true friends at times. I was lost socially on who I could trust and communicate with. Luckily in my Junior year after football season had ended, I had the honor of meeting Alex Lopez. He frequently told me about the wrestling team and how much fun yet challenging it really was. I wasn’t convinced at first but after the third time speaking with him about the team, I was alongside him and several others - running the infamous “Titan Mile” and yearning for those weekend wrestling tournaments. Alex accepted everyone onto the team and into his life. Ensuring we pushed each other to become better wrestlers but more importantly better people as a whole. If it wasn’t for Alex I’d still be mindlessly running on a field trying to find some purpose to this life we call high-school. After befriending Alex, he encouraged me to get involved and join the Commercial Art programs academic club (SkillsUSA & AAC) and obviously grow as a wrestler. I never thought I would be standing with such an outstanding individual like Alex. He is dedicated in Commercial Art and shows me his work constantly. He even designed/created a logo and submitted it to School District of Hillsborough County’s “90x20” campaign. The design is FIRE! Our entire team (from last year to this year) has improved greatly. If it wasn’t for Alex’s constant push and motivation as a captain - I do not know where many of us would be. I’m forever grateful to have such an amazing friend, who will soon be a commercial and private airline pilot leading all his passengers to their destination.

I first met Freddie back in 2013. Like most incoming freshman, he looked like your average 8th grader stepping foot onto a high school campus. His size didn’t help; several of the upperclassmen that knew Freddie put him under constant joking… but do not think he allowed that to affect him in any way. He knew it was all in good fun, so he would fire back and stand his ground. It was rather clever to watch. I recall hearing him about going to try-out for the Titan Baseball team. I know this well because I did try to get him to join the wrestling team since we were need of someone in his weight class. He told me that he would think of it but playing baseball meant a lot to him. He was very respectable and honest about this. I of course understood and support any student that has goals/ ambitions. As the year went on, Freddie did make the team but did not see much playing time that year; yet he was one of the hardest working athletes out there. As the next year rolled around Freddie was more serious (not only academically) but again with the Titan baseball team. Mirroring that was his interest in graphic design; more specific with digital illustration. His work has always been on an uprise. I could see a constant battle within him to always want to strive and be better than his last assignment. It was very encouraging to see. The year rolled on and I remember sitting with Freddie and hearing about his interest in music. Anyone who knows me and my past knows the realm of music I worked in - so this discussion began to intrigue me. Here sits a young sophomore with a serious drive for baseball, a critiquing eye for art, academically focused and now wants to create music. I was amazed. He shared a few things he was working on and started to tell me about the group/ label his family was rallying together to build and create. They were calling it ShaideTree Productions (STP). I was so moved to hear the passion coming from

this young man - I wanted to help support in any way I could. Freddie and I got to concept the “STP” logo together and I was even given the opportunity to do the groups first official photo shoot around the Tampa Bay Area. Two years later - ShaideTree, Freddie and his family have such a presence on social media with his music and promotion. Hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram, YouTube, and SoundCloud. He is connecting his art and music to those around him in a fashion that any grass-roots record label would do. I have had the opportunity to attend several of his shows and to see how he and his fellow STP artists engage the crowd, it is astonishing. With all the good also comes heartache. Freddie and his family have seen more than their share of opposition. This past year, their family suffered the loss of a dear loved one that passed away in a most tragic way. I have had several moments to talk with Freddie’s parents over the years and there is no doubt in my mind the amount of love and support they have for not only their children and family but for those around them. The Drayton Family has truly walked through the fires of life and continue to do so with the gifts and talents of their amazing children. You would think that would be enough for Freddie and his family to handle in four years but blessings continued to happen. After this school year is done, Freddie has committed to a full two year athletic scholarship to Bishop State Community College located in Mobile, Alabama - where he will not only continue his studies but also play baseball - all the while making music in the process. He did tell me that they are making him cut his hair though. Freddie, I look forward to seeing you take on your next chapter of life. Love & Respect! -Bayo

closing remarks with Bayo One more quarter to go! It has been an amazing year thus far. Early today we had our last AAC club meeting of the year. Our amazing officers wanted to keep the final meeting light-hearted. We did a recap of ARTCOM but what was more amazing was the video/photo reel they put together. I won’t lie, it brought tears of joys to my eyes. Mr. Naylor also. It was funny to sit back and watch how much we did this past school year so far. So many moments and memories. It truly was remarkable. I want to take a moment and thank our officers for their amazing dedication, sacrifice, and love for our program. It is a blessing to see the heart of these amazing young adults take pride and joy in our beloved class/club. We are almost to the finish line with smART Night 2017 right around the corner (April 28th).
