Message From The

Editor Getting to help design the AAC magazine was one of the best things that has happened to me as an artist. Seeing the finished product and knowing it’s veiwed by tons of people is such a great feeling. All the members of the magazine comittee were so creative and had the most brilliant ideas and you can see it in the pay off. This magzine is a product of not only my hardwork, but the hardwork and dedication of all the AAC members. Everyone has been working together, helping each other, and supporting each other. We are all preparing for Artcom and I’m so excited to see what my classmates bring to the table in terms of creativity.

Entering my senior year as CAA’s class president really impacted me in such positive ways. As we enter in our second semester of school, I have made many plans to improve our program! I hope to grow a stronger bond with my fellow classmates and help teach them self confidence and leadership skills. I absolutely love working with everyone and I would like to give a big thank you for all the support I have received in the first semester!

My fellow officers have done an outstanding job so far, helping me with planning meetings, activities, and communicating with the program. We are all excited to work with each and every student individually as we enter this new quarter.

It was that time of year in November. The food drive had come to Tampa Bay Tech. The food drive has been something that everyone most likely experience once in their life at school. IIt always ended up being around November. I was not surprised when they put posters up and had announcements to remind us of it. Teachers and clubs also told us to give canned goods. In Commercial Art, there was a competition to get us students motivated. Mr.Naylor and Mr.Bayonet gave each class level a bucket. The food drive was only happening for about two weeks, we were told that the class level to have the most items in their bucket would win a prize. Naturally that lit some fire into some people’s eyes especially mine. I, just like many, am very much a competitive person. So, I knew at that one moment that the junior class level had to win. We were also told of another way to get a prize. Every three items that we gave we were given a ticket with our name on it that will be entered into a raffle to a win a prize. A couple of days pass and no one had put anything into their bins. We got a speech in class from Mr.Naylor about how it is important give to the food drive.

I think that we forgot what the food drive truly meant. It became something about winning some competitions and getting something out of it. But it was really about helping others in the purest form possible, sharing. That saying we all heard as a kid is true, sharing is caring. The food drive comes every year to remind us of it. The majority of us don’t really give back to the community because we don’t look for the opportunities. The food drive give us that chance to help our community. It’s also makes us think about ourselves and how we should act has people. We should just be kind and help others in anyway big or small.

But we juniors pitched in and filled their bucket the day before the due date. We totally ended up winning that contest and got a glorious reward of getting treated to donuts. I was not here for the raffle drawing. But when I came to school the next day and walk into class, my friends came up too me telling me how I was one of the three people that won. I won a 10$ gift card to Wawa. The other two people also won a gift card Nathan G. and Jude C.

The food drive is more significant then we know. It’s a great way to give back and help others. We With Mr. Naylor’s speech about the importance forget that we should help others but the food of the food drive and how we should give cans drive comes every November to reminds us that. and good. People began to give more items to that. fill their buckets. I did my part and encouraged classmates to give as well. Our CA5 class bucket was almost to the top within a few days. The due date for all the food to be turned in was also approaching. I knew we were going to win. The seniors in a last-ditch effort almost filled their buckets to the top two days before the due date.

I’m so glad I got to design the yearbook cover for 2017. We were given the theme of “time” and the title “Infinite”. I wanted to think about what it meant to me and how I could make a design that showed that. When I first started I had no idea what I wanted my final design to be, but through trial and error and I was finally satisfied with my design. The designs my peers made were also super good so I didn’t expect mine to get picked. I’m so grateful I had this awesome opportunity.

closing remarks with Bayo It has been a very busy year so far. These past few months have been a roller-coaster of many spinning plates in our club. ARTCOM is our main focus, so it has diverted most of our attention. More than likely, by the time this issue is out - ARTCOM 2017 would have probably passed. Therefore our amazing students will already be working on the 3rd issue of the school year. We did launch a new website mainly focused on what Artcom is about. (www.mytbt.com/artcom) - take a visit.
