We welcome Diane and her family to Matai this week. We had such a fun time at the muddy fun run last week. Even though some of us were nervous, once we got out there we discovered what fun it was! "I went on the waterslide and it was so fun" said Anyia. "I went under the parachute" said Levi. "I rolled over the hay bales" said Jack. "It was so fun and muddy" said Benrick. "I got muddy!" said Matilda. Now we are practising for the cross country on Friday. We have to start running slowly so we can go a long way and if we get puffed it's ok, keep on going because it's just your heart and lungs working hard. Certificates were to welcome Paige, and to Matilda for great reading progress. Ka pai kids!

KOWHAI 2 (Mrs Kahukura) & RIMU 3 (Miss Burton) Kawaka News and Views! • Muddy Good Fun Run was awesome because it was so muddy - Makayla. • I got to jump into the biggest puddle and it was up to my chest. It was so much fun Alex. • It was so cool because my pants were so soaked and I couldn't even run - Angus. • The water was so heavy in my shoes Dylan. • I loved the Muddy Good Fun Run because there was so many things we got to run over and run through - Niall. • I pretended the muddy puddle was a hot spa pool. I loved it - Aimee. TOTARA 7 (Mr Murray) & KAURI 8 (Mr Herring)

MIRO 5 (Mrs Godby) & RATA 4 (Mrs Aurik) Rawe I hope you had a lovely Queens Birthday weekend and enjoy the short week. We are looking forward to our cross country which is on this Friday. Because of this the children's math's flash cards will be checked before and after school this week. Spelling won't be tested this week but feel free to work on words from the children's homework lists. Thank you for making sure that library books are returned on or before their due date. The library is open every lunchtime and our Library day is on a Friday. Evelyn and Nat

Akotoa This week has been a great week for pink circles! These are earned when a student demonstrates that they've achieved a learning goal and seen the teacher for an assessment. There are some amazing 'artifacts' or evidence of their learning on ultranet. You can see posters, videos and equations all showing the new learning they've achieved. We'd love you to visit their uspaces online and share in the success with them. We're really looking forward to the Cross Country this Friday, too. There were some very excited faces during last week's Muddy Fun Run and we've been talking about taking that enthusiasm to Friday's run too. It will be a great day to share with you if you can make it.
