MATAI 9 (Mrs Polaschek & Mrs Lemin) What a great day we had at the cross country! The children all tried so hard and should be proud of their efforts. Check out our class blog for photos of the mud run and the cross country. www.mataimbs.blogspot.co.nz We are enjoying our "Play" inquiry. This week we are focusing on how we play with others. Showing kotahitanga and taking turns are two important things to think about as we play with others. We will also be learning some Maori stick games (tititorea) and poi. Parker Ormond, from the Teachers College, will be coming along next week to work with us. We have a small box of lost property in our room at the moment. There are a couple of bags full of clean clothing that no one recognises:-) They may be yours, so come for a look. Ensure your child has a bag of clean clothes to change into if they get muddy or wet at lunchtime. Many thanks. MIRO 5 (Mrs Godby) & RATA 4 (Mrs Aurik) What a great day we had at Gorge Road School last Friday. The children put in a great effort running through mud and up hills. A big thank you to all the parents and supporters who helped to make the day such a success. It gave the children an authentic situation to practice their sportsmanship. This week we are working on showing respect towards others. We are learning to listen to others and that it's okay to have a different point of view. Miro is on assembly this week. The children really enjoy seeing friendly faces in the audience so if you

can make it on Friday that would be great. You will find the script for their part glued into their homework book. Have a great week. Evelyn and Natalie KOWHAI 2 (Mrs Kahukura) & RIMU 3 (Miss Burton) Such a busy week this week in Kawaka. We have been recreating the Gruffalo story and publishing them using our new chrome books. Some of us have created puppet pal movies of the Gruffalo. We would love for you to come and watch them any time. Place value and multiplication are what we are working on in maths and some of us are getting very speedy at our times tables. Most of us are all on track on our maths whizz getting our weekly usage right up there. Go Kawaka. TOTARA 7 (Mr Murray) & KAURI 8 (Mr Herring) Congratulations to our year 5 and 6 students who placed in the cross country last Friday. We're all very proud of you! This week in Totara and Kauri we've been learning about the Hauora (well-being) model and how it affects us during play. It's good to see how many people understand the need for a balanced well-being. We need to make sure our 'four walls' are at even heights to make sure our house isn't sagging or missing something. How are your four walls holding up?
From strong foundations we grow and stand tall together
