Staffing Change

Swimming

Last week, on behalf of the board, I regretfully accepted Della Carr's resignation from her role as a teacher at Myross Bush School for personal and family reasons. Della has been teaching at Myross Bush since 2003 and is a highly valued and respected member of our teaching staff. She has loved the connection over the years with so many wonderful students, parents and colleagues and I know she wants to thank and acknowledge the support she has received over the years in her personal and professional development. Thank you Della for the inspiration and passion that you have brought to our team over the years. We wish you well for wherever life's journey takes you!

Yesterday we had our first formal session at Splash Palace. This was a 'grading' day for our initial groupings and today Marie (swim coach coordinator) will be roving to ensure that our groupings are meeting the needs of our children ie that they are in the right place! This effective grouping is a key reason why our school employs three more coaches than the ILT provide. We want everyone to get a good half hour lesson each day in a manageable sized group that is meeting their need for their current swimming ability.

Della will finish her full time role at Myross Bush at the end of Term 1 and will be replaced in Term 2 by Matt Murray on a fixed term contract. Matt completed his final year of teacher training at our school and knows a lot about our teaching and learning systems and programmes. Matt is also well known around our school and will bring his own skill set to our teaching team. This diversity across our teaching team is a key to our continued success. The permanent teaching position that Della is resigning from will be advertised nationally and an appointment made for the beginning of Term 3.

Our Term 1 accounts are being posted out this week. Please make a concerted effort to pay these as quickly as possible as they are for costs that the school has incurred in providing the teaching and learning programmes that we have. Your support in this is much appreciated.

We are also spending time over the next few weeks talking about making good choices. What does good learning look like? What does good learning sound like? What choices can we make to ensure we are learning? We are especially focusing on this at our action stations time - what action stations will help me reach my goals? Ask your child what action station they chose today and why? Please let us know in the morning if your child is to be picked up from the pool and we will ensure they have their school bag with them. Certificates: Amelia McCorkindale, Luke Barlow MIRO 5 (Mrs Godby) & RATA 4 (Mrs Aurik) We are all very excited about beginning swimming this week. If you are picking up your child from the pool please let us know in morning so that we can ensure they take their school bag with their homework books to the pool. We are pleased with the work that the children are doing with their maths flash cards, however, it is important that these be brought back each day as they are needed for their class practise. We are still finding a lot of property that does not have the child's name written on, it makes it so much easier to return clothing if this is done. We are working on persistence and giving everything a go even when it is difficult. We watched a video on this showing a clip from the movie Finding Nimo - just keep swimming! Rata is on assembly this week so please look in your child's homework book to see if they have a speaking part. It would be appreciated if you could help your child to practise this so that they sound smooth and confident on Friday.

A big thank you to all the wonderful parent help we are receiving, it is very much appreciated as this really allows us to concentrate on our teaching.
