4H: accepts entries only on Saturday July 13, 1-4 PM. Livestock: accept entries on the day of the show. Refer to catalog for details.

There is no charge for an ID number, and, except for some livestock as noted in the catalog, no entry fees for entering exhibits.

To Enter Exhibits: Go to the Fair Office at the Fair Grounds and register for your ID number.

If you have registered in the past, you already have an ID number and just need to verify that your postal address and phone number are current. If this is your first time you will need to provide your name, postal address and phone number. Then you will be given a sheet with two kinds of self-stick bar-coded labels for entry tags to give to the workers in each department as they accept your entries.

All Anderson County Senior Citizens, 60 years of age or older, will be admitted free from 11:30 AM until 5:00 PM. Gates open at 11:30 AM. Children will learn where some of our food comes from and how important the farmer is to us. The activity will be free and will be located in the barn near the poultry exhibit. RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. The premium list for this fair has been made possible by funds raised by sponsoring groups.

2. The fair will be open to the public on the afternoon of Monday, July 15th at 5 PM and will continue through Saturday, July 20th.

3. There will be no entry fee for exhibits in most departments. The exceptions being the Beef, Swine, Goat and Sheep shows.

4. All exhibits must be checked in by their respective departments no later than 12 noon Monday July 15th, except livestock entries. Exhibits will be accepted Saturday July 13th from 1 PM till 4 PM and Monday, July 15th from 8 AM till 12 noon.

5. Premiums will be paid only on articles listed in the catalogue. Other articles that will add to the fair are welcome.

6. Exhibitors are eligible for only one entry in a lot with the exception of livestock. Livestock exhibitors may enter any number of entries per class but will only be paid on the two highest placings per class.

7. All premium checks must be cashed within 30 days. Premium money will not be paid on exhibits removed before time limit.

8. Ribbons will be used on winning exhibits as follows: first prize winner, blue ribbon; second prize winner, red ribbon; third prize winner, white ribbon.

9. All entries will be placed 1st. 2nd. 3rd. etc. (No ties). The judge’s decision will be final on all judged activities.

10. The fair management will use every precaution in trying to protect the exhibits by keeping a guard on duty as long as exhibits are on display; however, the fair management will not assume any responsibility in case of fire, theft, death, or any other cause.

11. The removal of all exhibits except livestock will not be permitted until 1 PM Sunday, July 21st. Anyone removing an exhibit prior to this time will forfeit all prizes due.

12. All exhibits must be called for Sunday, July 21st between 1 & 2 PM, as the management cannot, and will not assume responsibility for articles left on the fairgrounds and uncalled for.

13. Judging of all entries will begin at 1 PM on the 1st day of the fair, Monday, July 15th and will continue until all entries in each department are judged. Livestock judging, poultry and rabbits are judged according to the Fair program.

14. The office of the Fair Association will be open Monday, July 15th at 8 AM and all exhibitors are urged to cooperate in delivering their exhibits for display in advance of the opening of the fair at 5 PM Monday, July 15th.

15. All exhibitors must be bona fide residents of Anderson County and growers of the agricultural products they display, and exhibitors in livestock must be a farm owner or operator engaged in livestock farming. They must own all animals exhibited 30 days prior to fair time. Livestock shows are open to anyone.

16. If a question arises regarding the age of an animal, an exhibitor may prior to the beginning of the show, request that the rules committee have the animal in question examined by a competent person, the age determined, and the animal placed in the proper lot.

17. Concessions No one will be allowed to sell on the grounds unless they have been cleared through the Fair Association.

18. All crops exhibited must be grown in current year.

19. An exhibitor can make only one entry from a crop (Duplication not permitted).

20. Livestock can be shown in combination, but only once as an individual.

21. Rules committee has the authority to eliminate any objectionable exhibit, concession, etc., 22. No bicycles or motorcycles allowed on the fairground during the fair.

23. Persons guilty of unbecoming conduct shall forfeit all prize money. Will also be subject to a penalty as deemed appropriate by the rules committee.

24. Upon proper notification or showing of unforeseen difficulties by an exhibitor, the rules committee or chairman can modify or amend any existing rules.

25. The Fair Association reserves the right to refuse any exhibit.

26. The Anderson County Fair Association will not be held liable for any damage that may occur to a participant or participant’s wearing apparel or accessories during the County Fair or contest activity. Neither will the Anderson County Fair Association be held responsible for any bodily injury that may be incurred by a participant during the County Fair or contest activity. Neither will the Anderson County Fair Association be held responsible for lost or stolen articles during the County Fair or contest activity.

27. The Anderson County Fair Association reserves the right to prohibit animals from entering the fairgrounds if they present a threat to public safety.

LIVESTOCK HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

TENNESSEE DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE DIVISION OF CONSUMER & INDUSTRY SERVICES ANIMAL HEALTH SUMMARY: LIVESTOCK HEALTH REQUIREMENTS FOR FAIRS AND EXHIBITIONS 1. All stalls, pens, chutes, etc. located on the grounds of fairs and exhibitions shall be thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with a disinfectant approved by USDA, APHIS between each scheduled fair or exhibition.

2. All livestock (except poultry and equine) which enter fairs and exhibitions shall be accompanied by an official veterinary health certificate with individual permanent identification.

Certificates for this purpose shall be valid for ninety (90) days from date of issue. (Tennessee livestock only – out-of-state certificates are valid for thirty (30) days from the date of issue).

3. No animal showing clinical signs of infectious or communicable disease shall be allowed to enter or remain on premises of fairs or exhibitions. It shall be the responsibility of the manager of each event to assure prompt removal of such animals.

4. Livestock and poultry originating within the state of Tennessee must have Certificates of Veterinary Inspection valid for a period on ninety (90) days.

5. All cattle which enter fairs and exhibitions shall be accompanied by an official veterinary health certificate with individual permanent, official identification.

6. Sponsors of poultry shows or exhibitions shall notify the Tennessee Department of Agriculture at least thirty (30) days prior to show or exhibition.

7. Poultry found not to be in apparent good health shall be removed immediately from any show or exhibition.

8. All sheep imported into or through Tennessee shall be accompanied by an official health certificate and be in compliance with 0080-2-1-.02, and Title 9, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 79.1 through 79.4.

9. All sheep that move within the state, with the exception of wethers under the age of 18 months that are produced for slaughter only, including for change of ownership, shows, fairs, expositions or slaughter shall be permanently, individually identified by a method approved in Title 9, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 79.1 through 79.4.

For Livestock entering fairs and exhibitions from areas outside the state of Tennessee Livestock and Poultry entering fairs and exhibitions from areas outside the State of Tennessee shall be subject to current Tennessee import requirements. Please contact the state veterinarian’s office regarding questions or recent changes to these rules.

These interstate requirements are summarized as follows: 1. For all species (except poultry): Official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection valid for thirty (30) days and individual permanent official identification, except for equine. Equine must have sufficient description to identify the animal.

2. CATTLE: Certificate of Veterinary Inspection and additional requirements as follows: Tuberculosis: No requirements except for cattle originating from regions not considered free of tuberculosis.

Brucellosis: No requirements except for cattle originating from regions not considered free of brucellosis. Test eligible cattle – Intact male or female cattle eighteen (18) months or older. (Vaccinates and non-vaccinates) 3. POULTRY: Originate directly from a Pullorum-Typhoid Clean Flock and an H5/H7 Avian Influenza Clean Flock, or be accompanied by evidence of a negative Pullorum-Typhoid test within ninety (90) days and a negative Avian Influenza test within twenty-one (21) days.

4. SHEEP: (1) All sheep imported into or through Tennessee shall be accompanied by an official health certificate and be in compliance with 0080-2-1-.02, and Title 9, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 79.1 through 79.4.

(2) All sheep that move within the state, including for change of ownership, shows, fairs, expositions or slaughter shall be permanently, individually identified by a method approved in Title 9, Code of Federal Regulations, Part 79.1 through 79.4.

DEPARTMENT 05 – SHEEP SHOW

Jackpot Market Lamb & Commercial Ewe Show Chairman: Joe Hall and Kent Worthington RULES AND REGULATIONS 1. All livestock must comply with the Tennessee State Livestock Health requirements for Fairs and Exhibits 2. General rules and regulations of the Anderson County Fair Association apply except as modified herein.

3. The show will be Tuesday, July 16th. Weigh in at 1 p.m. and scales close at 2:30pm.

Show to begin a 4 p.m.

4. Entry is open to anyone that is 21 years old or under.

5. There will be no weight limit.

6. Lambs will be divided into equal weight classes determined by number of lambs entered and divided into light weight, middle weight, and heavy weight divisions.

7. All lambs must have an ear tag.

8. All animals shall have an official veterinary health certificate.

9. All exhibitors must provide care for their own animals at all times, show their own animals and maintain their animals’ pens in an acceptable manner.

10. Feed, bedding, and all equipment needed, will be the responsibility of each exhibitor. Due to space limitations, exhibitors may be required to show from their trailers.

11. All rules and regulations must be adhered to or all premiums for the guilty party will be forfeited.

12. We welcome all exhibitors and will make every effort to see that your stay with us is pleasant and worthwhile for you.

13. Exhibitors must clean their area before leaving.

14. Alcohol is prohibited on the grounds. No smoking in the barns or show arena.

15. Market lambs will be weighed one time only on site and classes arranged by the committee.

16. Judges and Committee decisions are final.

17. Ewe lambs can be shown in Market Lamb Show or Commercial Ewe Show, but not both.

Chairman: Susan Dundore 1. Honey for competition must be in standard glass honey jars.

2. Standard 1 pound flat jars must be used for extracted honey.

3. Standard 1 pound round jars or pint jars must be used for comb honey.

4. All honey and beeswax exhibited must be produced within the previous or current year.

5. Honey will be judged according to the official scorecard.

6. All observation hives must have Plexiglas or tempered glass observation windows.

7. First place premium will only be awarded if there are three or more entries for that Lot. 8. The Judge has the discretion to determine the credibility of entries.

Anderson County Fair celebrates 130 Years

Prohibition. The Great Depression. World War II. A man walking on the moon. Sept. 11, 2001.

In the last 130 years Anderson County has been a part of our nation’s history — more so than most.

Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) built its first dam in Anderson County.

The United States ended World War II with the work done in Anderson County.

And during the last 130 years Anderson County has … Held a fair.

For a week Anderson Countians were allowed to forget their place in world history and take time to bask in their own history. Anderson Countians have grown tomatoes and corn; sewn dresses and painted pictures; raised rabbits and cattle — all for the honor of being the best in Anderson County.

And the fair has grown along with the community.

The Fair Board has encompassed a day to honor senior citizens; a night to put a tiara on many a young girl’s brow; held tractor pulls and

2. Anyone who earns more than 25% of their total income from photography is considered a professional and is not permitted to enter.

Award Announced ‘Most Successful’ Fair Popularity, Good Citizen Contest Winners Named

the two-day Anderson County Community improvement Fair, which came to a close Saturday night, was pronounced by obersevers as one of the most successful conducted to day. A large attendance was recorded both Friday and Saturday nights for the special events at the t.l.Seeber Farm which was used for the fair this year.

Saturday night, winners in the community booth competition were presented their awards by t.l. Seeber of the Clinton Chamber of Commerce. First place went to Mountain View, and Floyd Beets accepted the $50 award for the community. Second place winner was Melbourne, $45; third place was Donovan, $40; and fourth place was Dutch Valley, $35.

IN THE GOOD Citizen Contest for men, first place winner was Elmer long of Melbourne. in the Women’s division, Mrs. Fletcher Cox of Mountain View was the winner. Miss Ann McDaniel of Dutch Valley was first place in the popularity contest, trailed by Miss Betty ruth Beets of Mountain View, Miss Huette Hoskins of Donovan, and Miss Charlotte Graves of Melbourne.

Committee members for the popularity contest were Mrs. James lofton, Mrs. J. r. Bridges and Mrs. Floyd Hackworth. the contest netted $181.31 for the Fair.

John Carter of Dutch Valley was the first place winner in the Junior Showmanship competition Frday night.

Winner of the Senior Showmanship event last year, he carried off the union-Peoples Bank trophy awarded by H. F. rutherford.

FIRST PLACE in the special dairy award went to Douglas Fritts, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Fritts. this was his second year to show animals at the Fair. He owns six dairy animals. the norris Creamery sponsored the award. ralph Shaniever won the Senior Showmanship award leading a shorthorn male. He won the same trophy at the Fair two years ago.

Chester Pace, chariman of the Fair Association, said this week he felt the Fair was “one of the most successful we have ever had. We had a large attendance both nights,” Pace added, “and we had more exhibits, and more better cattle than previous years.”

zens’ Day program at the fair. There were so many present, in fact, that some had to stand outside the big tent in which the program ws held.
