The 28th Annual Saint Charles Oktoberfest has something for everyone Sept. 26, 27 and 28 in Frontier Park in St. Charles If it’s brats and sauerkraut that you’re craving then you’ve come to the right place. Whether you can claim some German in your family tree, or you just like to pretend for the weekend, this festival has something for everyone! The entertainment at Oktoberfest will make you stand up and yell Prost! With four main entertainment tents attendees will find a variety of entertainment throughout the weekend; including bands, singers and dancers. Jump aboard the Oktoberfest Express Friday and Saturday evenings with the Obenheimer Express—direct from Germany—in the Hofbrau Tent, the Alpine Express performing on the 7-Up Ten Stage, and The Austrian Express playing in the Barefoot Wine Garden. For those who like a little less German in their music the Autumn Brauhaus is the place to be! Friday night has That 80’s Band performing and Saturday fairgoers can stop by to hear the Rough Ryders covering contemporary country tunes. Stop by anytime and catch all the other great artists who will be playing throughout the weekend. Back by popular demand is the one-ofa-kind Schlafly Glockenspiel, a human cuckoo clock that features the rich tones of the Lindenhof Echos alphorn group, and dance gruppes of the German Cultural Society of St. Louis. No Oktoberfest would be complete
without great beer and food. Saint Charles Oktoberfest will offer over 25 varieties of beers to choose from throughout the park, courtesy of Summit Distributing and Schlafly Beer. Thirsty attendees can also find a great selection of Barefoot wine at the Barefoot Wine Garden. Authentic German food will be served up all weekend courtesy of Roemer Topf restaurant. The fest will also feature a variety of festival fare from many food vendors throughout Frontier Park. Oktoberfest attracts many visitors who love to shop. Over 80 vendors with crafts, art, jewelry, clothing and authentic German merchandise come from across the country to help shoppers get a head start on their holiday shopping. The official Saint Charles Oktoberfest Merchandise will feature a variety of mementos to commemorate the 28th annual Saint Charles Oktoberfest. This family friendly festival includes something for young and old alike all weekend long. Come see the live Glockenspiel perform in Schlafly Field. Stop by the Kid Zone sponsored by Mercy Kids which is complete with games, face painting, bounce house, pumpkin painting and much more. It will benefit KEEN St. Louis. The family fun continues on Saturday with a Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) walk. Pre-register at www.walk.jdrf.org, or call 314.748.7068.
Also on Saturday, plan to take in the Weiner Takes All - Weiner Dog Race and Fashion Show, the Sam Adam’s Stein Hoisting contest, and the brat eating contest sponsored by Swiss Meat & Sausage Co. Sunday features the Saint Charles Oktoberfest 5K & Root Beer Fun Run sponsored by SSM Saint Joseph benefitting Disabled Athlete Sports Associates (DASA). The Saint Charles Oktoberfest will be in Frontier Park Sept. 26, 27, and 28 for a weekend of German fun. Visit www.saintcharlesoktoberfest.com for more details.
