It’s time to start buying your produce, breads and meats from your local farmer. After a long gray winter, Missouri’s growing season is finally here, and the freshest-of-the-fresh produce is awaiting you at your local farmers market. If you’ve never tried farmers market produce, be prepared to have your taste buds blown as you bite into sweet, juicy, sun-warmed tomatoes or perfectly ripe peaches or crisp, sharp bell peppers. Use this list as a guide and try a new market every weekend ‘til you find your favorite. Featuring live music at each market, the vendors sell a wide variety of edible delights, including homemade jelly, farm fresh eggs, nuts, honey, spices, organic meats, cut flowers, bedding plants, hand-painted artwork, and small-batch soaps.
