Thiscompositionisaresultofthe"Concrescence"project,initiatedbyLasseThoresen.Theaimofthisprojecthasbeentoincludevocal techmiquesfromtheethnicfieldinacontemporaryvocalstyle.Thesetechniquesincludeovertonesinging,useofuntemperedintervalsand oftheshrillchestvoice.
InmypieceIhavetriedtoexploretheconnectionsbetweensyngtextandmusicaltimbre.Thevocalsofthelatintexthavebeenbasisfor overtone-rowsandplayingwithformants.Theconsonantshavebeenisolated,toformmusicalmaterial.Non-temperedintervalsderived fromtheovertonestructuresarelaterusedasanindependentmusicalelement.
ThepremiertookplaceontheUltimafestivalinOslooctobre2006bythevocalgroup"Nordicvoices",thathasfollowedthe "Concrescence"projectfromitsbeginning.
