Wide Days Music Convention Confirms Dates And PRS Foundation Partnership Award-winning music convention, Wide Days, will take place in Edinburgh on 21-22 April, with showcasing acts set to benefit from additional support thanks to a partnership with the PRS Foundation. The conference component, hosted on the first day, returns to the world’s oldest student union building, Teviot Row House, with the themes and speakers due to be announced later this month. Showcases will run consecutively across several key venues throughout the evening of 21 April. Day two will continue to focus on informal networking, with a guided tour, barbecue and other activities. “Wide Days is a great opportunity to combine business with pleasure, and we look forward to building on the event’s international appeal,” says convention founder Olaf Furniss. “The PRS Foundation partnership will enable us to provide more mentoring for the showcasing artists before and after the event, and allow us to further develop as a springboard for talent across all genres.”

A significant proportion of previous showcase acts have gone on to perform at festivals and events outside Scotland including The Great Escape, SXSW, Folk Alliance, Eurosonic and Reeperbahn Festival. Previous showcases have included Honeyblood, Fatherson, C Duncan, Rachel Sermanni and Be Charlotte, as well as award-winning artists Kathryn Joseph and Elle Exxe. “We’ve been really impressed with the impact of Wide Days over the years,” says PRS Foundation’s senior grants and programme manager, Joe Frankland. “It plays a crucial role in developing talented artists in Scotland and we are proud that so many musicians it supports, go on to receive direct funding from PRS Foundation. The Open Fund grant enables Wide Days to offer intensive mentoring and artist development, so we look forward to seeing more acts fast-tracked to industry success.” The deadline for showcase applications is 5pm on Friday 10 February and is open to Scotlandbased acts from all genres - www.widedays.com/ apply
