Glasgow Americana organisers are delighted to announce that the legendary American singer song-writer Chip Taylor will play the festival this year.

Chip Taylor, rated as one of America’s finest singer/songwriters and masterful performers, is gracing this year’s 10th Anniversary Glasgow Americana Festival with a one-off showOne of the pioneers of the pivotal country-rock movement in the 70s and the man who wrote massive 1960s hits, Wild Thing and Angel Of the Morning, he plays the Classic Grand on Friday, October 7.

Fiona Hyslop, Cabinet Secretary for Culture, Tourism and External Affairs, has announced the companies and artists selected for the 8th year of Made in Scotland - a curated showcase of music, theatre and dance performed during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world’s biggest arts festival.

Made in Scotland is a partnership between the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society, Creative Scotland, the Federation of Scottish Theatre and the Scottish Music Centre. Through the Scottish Government’s Expo Fund, Made in Scotland has received £590,000 to present the showcase with part of the funding designed to enable Scottish companies, ensembles and artists to take up onward international touring opportunities from contacts made during the Festival Fringe.

Shona McCarthy, Chief Executive, Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society said: “Made in Scotland highlights the work of many talented artists and companies in Scotland today and presenting their work at the 2016 Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the fields of music, dance and theatre; it opens up an array of opportunities both during the Fringe, when thousands of industry professionals and media are in town, and after by way of the onward touring fund.

The Fringe is an extraordinary international stage, and for me, as the new Chief Executive of the Fringe Society, it is fantastic that such a platform exists through partnership with Creative Scotland, the Federation of Scottish Theatre and the Scottish Music Centre and support from the Scottish Government’s Expo Fund.”

The programme is testament to the strength of work being created in Scotland with the 2016 showcase representing a strong line-up of companies, ensembles and artists including Barrowland Ballet, Janis Claxton Dance, Kieran Hurley, Puppet State Theatre, Andy Manley, Starcatchers, Moishe’s Bagel, Simon Thacker and Justyna Jablonska, Kai Fischer, Sam Rowe, Graeme Stephen, Cryptic, Adura Onashile, Will Pickvance, Sita Pieraccini, Mairi Campbell, Gary Gardiner and Ian Johnston.

HebCelt has grown from a small event attracting less than 1,000 fans, to an international showpiece for roots, Celtic and traditional music, drawing an audience of around 15,000. It is estimated it has generated more than £20 million for the local economy over two decades.

Glasgow International Piping Festival has announced the competitors for this year’s Pipe Idol tournament. There are 16 exceptional participants from Scotland, Germany, Canada, USA and Australia all vying for the prestigious title.

Pipe Idol has grown to be one of the most

The competition, sponsored by Fred Morrison Reelpipes, sees the best up-and-coming pipers, aged between 15 and 20, compete at four heats throughout the week, before the final four play to a secret panel of judges.

Last year’s crown was taken by 20 year-old Scott Barrie, of the Grade 1 Greater Glasgow Police Scotland Pipe Band. Other notable winners over the last 10 years include Calum Ian Brown, who won in 2014 and Connor Sinclair, who took the title in 2012 when he was only 16 years old.

Band performances will take place in George Roddy MacLeod, Festival Director of Piping Square and on the steps of The Royal Concert Hall. Glamis Prom

At the end of July, the playing fields on East Street in the Moray town of Fochabers will be home to the 21st annual Speyfest, three days of the best in traditional and contemporary Celtic music. The tented village hosts a variety of seated and standing events including the Friday and Saturday concerts and stomps, the music marathon that is the Speyfest Family Sunday, a craft and food fair and an ecumenical Celtic Kirk service. Glasgow 8-14 August Piping Live! Glasgow's International Piping Festival, the world’s biggest week of piping, will return to Glasgow from 8-14 August. Now in its 13th year, Piping Live! is the biggest festival of its kind. Attracting 40,000 people from around the globe each year to watch over 5000 international pipers perform at 150 events across the city.

Some of the hottest names in traditional music will perform this year, including RURA, Anxo Lorenzo, Ross Ainslie & Ali Hutton and the world famous Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

Party at The Palace Linlithgow 13-14 August 2016 McEwan’s Party at The Palace is back for its third year following the fantastic event last summer.

The 2 day party will take place on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th August in Linlithgow.
