Nashville Sensation Opens Concerts in the Court

cclaimed singer/songwriter Jim Lauderdale opens the 201314 Concert in the Court season, September 14 at 8 p.m. in the Root Sculpture Court.

Tickets for this performance and all Concerts in the Court are $31.50 for Members, $36.50 for General admission, and $21.50 for students. Flexible subscriptions are also available. The museum opens at 7 p.m. so patrons may view the current exhibitions, socialize and visit the Gift Gallery. Concerts in the Court also feature a cash bar and special gallery talks at intermission. Lauderdale is a Grammy® Award-winning musician and one of the most respected artists working in the bluegrass, country and Americana music communities. He is considered one of Nashville’s “A” list of songwriters with songs recorded by artists including Patty Loveless, The Dixie Chicks and George Strait. Lauderdale’s music has been featured on the hit show Nashville and on the soundtrack of the film Pure Country. He frequently collaborates with legends including Ralph Stanley and Elvis Costello and is also a critically acclaimed solo artist with dozens of studio releases,

Beethoven Glorified in Keyboard Conversations

C

elebrated concert pianist Jeffrey Siegel opens the 2013-14 Keyboard Conversations ® season by celebrating The Glory of Beethoven, 8 p.m. Saturday, September 7 in the Museum of Art Auditorium. The program includes the humorous Sonata Opus 10 No. 2, the life-and death- struggle of the Appassionata, and the Sonata in A Flat Opus 110, written after deafness engulfed the composer. The extremely popular Keyboard Conversations format offers listeners the opportunity to discover the influences that affected the creation of the music being presented. Mr. Siegel shares details about each composition that lead the audience to realize the subtleties and intricacies of these great works. The evening concludes with a session of questions and answers with Mr. Siegel.
