Letter from the Editor in Chief It is with great pleasure that I get to present this subscription of the Multiple Streams Magazine. I’m particularly tickled to have my friend, colleague, business woman and all around bad chic Lisa Nicole Cloud on the cover. I don’t have much to say because everything I need to say is represented in each article. Lisa Nicole is a fashion designer of 3 fashion lines; the Lisa Nicole Collection, the Lisa Nicole Diamond Collection, and the Lisa Nicole Signature collection. She is a former pharmaceutical sales rep who is now known as “Ms. Millionaire Maker” for her accomplishments in the development of MLM Millionaires who have been personally coached and mentored by her! Lisa teaches her mentees how to turn their passions into profits and tap into their greatness. As a result of the success she experienced in direct sales, Lisa launched, several business entities. She was also on three seasons of Bravo TV’s, Married to Medicine. A family woman, a girlfriend, a wife, a mother and a mogul, Multiple Streams Magazine is proud to carry her story. Love, Angella W. Our media correspondence Que Johnson of the Media Docz recently caught up with CEO, Boss Lady Lisa Nicole Cloud….

Que: Describe a day in the life of Lisa Nicole Cloud?

Lisa: The first thing I do is pray! I like to start off with what I call my hour of power where I just reflect on being thankful for another waking day! I ask God to order my steps so that my day is productive doing what he called me to do. This is where I get clarity in my mind with what I want to accomplish for that day. After prayer, I usually get up and head to the office, I have a corporate office and a show room in Norcross in Georgia which is where I operate our Boss program out of. We also design clothes for the Lisa Nicole Collection there. Que: How do you balance it all, wife, mom and business maven?

Lisa: In this season I’m very intentional on trying to be balanced by wrapping up my day at a reasonable time to get home and have dinner and some quality time with my kids. I recently posted on social media this quote “you can’t get time back” you can work and be extremely successful but then you look up and your babies are no longer babies. My son is getting ready to go to high school and my daughter is in the 6th grade getting ready to go to 7th grade. Teenage years are the most important years to be present in your kids’ lives because so much of who they are, and they become are shaped in these years. Also, I'm being intentional about balance with myself, I deserve some me time too. I still may get a little work done at home but I try to get to bed by a reasonable hour because our bodies need rest. Too often we treat our bodies like machines, and we look up wondering why our health is not where it should be. Que: How did the balancing act work with your family as a whole when you were on the TV?

Lisa: The show added a whole other dimension because 3 of 5 days a week on top of everything else I was doing, I was also filming and according to our

contracts the show took priority, so even if I had stuff planned and they decided that they needed to film a scene with me I kind of had to put things on hold. The show also added a lot of extra people in my life that I didn’t necessarily want in my life all the time, like always being in hair and makeup, to always having a stylist around to style you for different events and different scenes. I’m just not that person I just want to be me, but when you’re on television that’s just kind of part of the life that you have to live. So I’m peaceful now that I’m not on the show. I really had to ask myself what I was doing because I don’t keep myself in toxic environments and if something is not growing me, I can’t be a part of it. I felt like at a certain point, that show shifted from being an opportunity to be a positive example on television to just coming against me, bringing out a side of me that I really didn’t want to come out! We all have that side and if you poke at it, it will come out. I didn’t think it was worth losing my family, my peace or my joy so I made a decision to walk away two seasons ago and I feel really good about that decision. A lot of people want to make it in this industry because the money is so good, but I don’t think there’s any paycheck worth my peace, my joy and family. Que: On the show the ladies eluded to the fact you became rich off of a pyramid scheme can you share with our readers your millionaire journey?

Lisa: Not so, I did exactly what I was supposed to do, I graduated from Emory University with an undergraduate degree, I went to graduate school at John Hopkins University, I was very successful in my corporate job in pharmaceutical sales and made a good living, but I was unfulfilled. I wasn’t doing what I know I was called to do because in my spirit and at my core I’m an entrepreneur, but I was trying to fit an entrepreneur spirit into an employee body and it was not working. I felt extremely unfulfilled so I said you know what! I will start doing something on the side to satisfy this entrepreneur spirit. I was introduced to the world of home business ownership and that’s how I got started. Most home businesses do start off with an MLM opportunity I got started with 5 Linx just working it part time. I did another company before I did 5

Linx and made no money I swore these types of businesses didn’t work. When this came around this time I was just opened, because I was at that place in my life. This one was the right company with the right products at the right time all the stars lined up. I started working it part time and within a year I was matching the income I made on my fulltime job. By a year and a half, I was exceeding what I made on my full-time job. I then made the decision to cut the cord from corporate America, it was a tough decision because I had a child and was

as a single mother at that time, even though his dad was around we weren’t married and so I was the bread winner taking care of everything. So, to make a decision to leave that security and go off in pursuit of my own business was a big jump for me, but I did it and I thank God every day for having the courage to go after my goals and dreams because it changed my life. I started doing that business and within 5 years I made my fist million and over the course of 15 years I helped 26 other people become millionaires. I made millions not just a million but millions of

Que: The Boss Network is focused on the beauty industry why that niche.

Lisa: You have to follow trends I mean think about it when you think about Kanye West how have he made his money in the last few years? Not through music, it’s through his Yeezy clothing line and him being an influencer leveraging his name and his brand. Look at Rihanna she also hasn’t done a lot of music lately because she’s making money through her Fenty cosmetics line. When you think about Kylie Jenner she’s on the cover of Forbes magazine as the youngest billionaire because of her cosmetic line not because she is a Kardashian but because of her brand. So, the trend today is social influence, social selling and e-commerce. People are not going into stores or brick and mortar shopping spaces anymore. They want convenience so they buy online, and have it delivered to their door. So, with Boss I teach people how to leverage those strategies and also how to get on the accounts receivable side instead of always on the accounts payable side of those kind of products because we use them every day. African American women are the #1 consumer of hair, yet we own less than 1% of that industry. That doesn’t make sense to me. I’m very excited to teach people the wealth that exists in the beauty, fashion and lifestyle industry and show them how they can position themselves to get paid by using those products by recommending and referring those products. The concept took off beyond what I imagined it to be but again, BOSS stands for Believer of Supernatural Success and I know that God is all over that, so I’m not surprised. Que: What advice would you offer women to sustain relationships whether personal or professional?

million but millions of dollars over the course of my career in direct sales and now I’m at a point, and a lot of people don’t know this, but I took the money from 5 Linx and that’s how I started the clothing line. That’s really why I did well because I had the capital to fund it. A lot of businesses fail because they’re under-capitalized but because I had residual income, I was able to fully capitalize the clothing line and get it out there the way it needed to be out there. I decided to take my world and experience

in direct sales, fashion and coaching to start the Boss Network. Which is a company where we teach people how to start and grow successful and profitable fashion and beauty businesses. In life you go through things and you end up in different seasons to learn and to gather as much as you can for your next season of elevation. It took me a minute to figure out what next level success looked like for me, the more successful you are the more you can accomplish but the harder it is to go to that next level.

Lisa: Relationships take work, it takes being committed throughout challenges and really staying on your knees keeping it in prayer. Too often we try to fight our battles in the flesh and some battles can’t be fought in the flesh. Nobody’s going to understand it if they don’t have a strong faith, but you don’t need other people’s approval for the stuff you know God is doing in your life. Also making sure to find time for your spouse or significant other and making sure your

professional goals don’t over shadow the things that really matter in life. At the end of the day if you get a notice from your doctor saying you have six weeks to live you’re not going to sit around counting your money. You’re going to spend as much time as you can with your family and with God, which means those are the most important things to you. Money is great but it will not buy you happiness. Ask yourself at the end of the day if you lost it all would you still be ok? Que: What are your top three must haves as a multimillionaire CEO?

Lisa: Have a strong relationship with God never forgetting where your blessings flow from! Have a strong relationship with your family. That’s who you do it for to leave a legacy. Must have a really tight inner circle and mastermind circle that can hold you accountable and challenge you to grow. People who don’t drink you're cool aid all the time. You don’t want YES people around you but people who will be honest at all times. Que: What advice can you give to a struggling entrepreneur?

Lisa: What I would tell them is to really invest in themselves and invest in a coach. Success is not a secret it’s a system and if you want what other people have you have to do what they are already doing. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel you just need to study successful people. A lot of time we will go and invest in the things on the outside clothes, shoes, bags, hair. We won’t invest on the information that have to go on the inside and that’s your most valuable asset - YOU - and you being whole on the inside and not the outside. It’s superficial, and at the end of the day you can look good but if you don’t have the right mindset you’re still failing. Que: Looking back on your younger years what would you tell yourself?

Lisa: I would tell my younger self that failing is ok. I think we put a lot of pressure on ourselves to just win win win win. It feels good to win but

you can’t always be on top. You’re not always a champion and during those times if you don’t realize that failing is part of succeeding, if you really don’t get that lesson you will quit because you will feel defeated and I can’t tell you how many times I failed to win. How many mistakes I made, how many times I had to keep swinging and trying to get it where it needed to be. That is the heart of a champion and most people in my opinion who don’t hit their goals and dreams is because they quit too early.

The reason they quit is because they think they are supposed to always be winning. If you’re not growing, you’re dying and if you’re afraid to get that truth serum you need to check your ego. I see it all the time when people start winning, they get a big ego thinking they did It. Their success is not there’s alone there’s a higher power that orders your steps and if you ever lose sight of that, remember He giveth and taketh away. It’s really important to remain humble the more successful you become.

It’s not everyday that you come across someone who embodies class, business, bosschicness, beauty, a mix of dancehall and soca queen and fashion guru in one. Meet the Bahamian beauty, 29 year old CEO of the airline company, Western Air Bahamas. Multiple Streams Magazine recently caught up with this super woman for chit chat.

old. My dad has always been an aviation enthusiast and he is private pilot and flight instructor by trade. My mom was a newly graduated business major and they both found it necessary to involve me early on (though as a child I didn’t always understand why). But I grew a passion for aviation as well.

for showing us how to be extraordinarily successful while being your authentic self and also unafraid to diversify in business.

MSM: So, Why jets? and Why the airline industry?

Rexy: I like to believe I have emotional intelligence which sometimes lacks in such a technical arena. I’m authentic in who I am. I like my hair big and heels high, boardroom or on the ramp. Yet I like structure and procedures which has been beneficial in what I bring to the company. MSM: What are your thoughts on taking risks? Making mistakes? Rexy: Fear stands between you and the next level of success. Often we are so scared of making a mistake or taking a risk that we forget that sometimes taking the risk is the only way to succeed. I don’t like failing or making mistakes (I prefer to learn from others) but it is the fastest lesson on how to improve.

Rexy: By the grace of GOD and consistent work we saw a lot of growth and room for additional occupancy. Western Air has been around for 18 years and we always want to continue to evolve and provide better service to our passengers. The next choice for us, was upgrading our fleet with Embraer 145 jets, which has had instrumental in further growth. MSM: What thoughtful/encouraging piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

Rexy: Be anxious for nothing. Your footsteps are ordered by GOD. And the things you question will be clear as day in time to come. When you’re young its easy to compare or be worried about your future and what it would like. But stay focus, find the passion in life and be dedicated in your pursuits. MSM: Why is it important for women of color to lead and/or work in leadership roles and decision making capacities?

MSM: As a Black woman, what do you consider your super power to be?

Rexy: In general as black women I think we have the keen ability to make hard work look easy. I think personally my super power is empathy, being able to be emotionally available and understand the perspective of others. MSM: Tell us how did you get started in the airline industry?

Rexy: I started in the airline industry with my parents when I was 12 years

Rexy: Representation is important. Women, particularly women of color have been apart of the foundation of some of the most influential and successful organizations, movements and businesses without little recognition for their contributions. It’s only fitting that they take on more leadership and decision making roles because we are capable and well equipped to do so. MSM: If you could thank any Black historical woman for their contributions to society, who would it be and why?

Rexy: I’d thank Madam CJ Walker, for showing us how to run and build a solid operations with the bare resources and marketing streams. I’d also thank Oprah

MSM: What key skill-sets or qualities make you unique as an island gyal leader?

MSM: What are 3 success habits you implement into your daily routine to maintain a successful business? Rexy: I start by day with gratitude, giving GOD thanks. Keeps things in perspective. I prioritize between the ‘big picture items’ that may require longer period of time and urgent matters. I touch base with the different Departments particularly if we have specific events ahead. MSM: What is your latest project and how will others benefit from it?

Rexy: Western Air will begin flight service between the Bahamas and Jamaica later this year, as well as flight service between the Bahamas and Southern Florida. We are excited about these new routes and looking forward to provide great opportunities for Bahamians and our international tourists to experience the different islands. For more updates check westernairbahamas. com Personally, I have TV and music projects coming up which I look to be entertaining but also informative and motivational. De’Andre L. Rucker From Hood Rich to Multiple Streams by Que Johnson, The Media Doctorz.

So, did we mention that the Media Doctorz are a global nominated company?

Yassssss, the Media Doctorz are EXCITED to announce our official 2019 Global Woman Award Nominations. I am nominated for the Aspirational Global Woman Award and my partner, Nakita Nicci is nominated for the Celebrity Global Woman Award! With that said, I recently had the opportunity to sit with another inspirational human being with an amazing story of turning his past mistakes into multiple streams. I am talking about the Founder of Rucker Holding, here in Chicago, De’Andre L. Rucker. Here is a peek into that conversation. Me: Mr. Rucker I understand that you have several businesses. How do you balance operating multiple companies?

De’Andre My team is phenomenal! As the CEO and Founder of 19 companies my Project Managers are key to our success. To ensure proper follow through with a constant increase in currency and conversion. Rucker Holding has the best CFO in our city, my wife Mikko Rucker. Me: You recently hired 200 employees in Alabama, what is your initiative behind

the mass hire?

De’Andre As an entrepreneur it’s natural for me to create opportunities whether it’s through my companies or partnering with others. I have clients in many different states at times requesting our services. Apart of the mass hiring decision was the fact that, one of my top tier client was in need of a properly trained and experienced staff for quality containment of materials. I believe in helping people to progress, and one way of doing that is helping them to secure sustainable income. In my home state alone we have 350 employees and plan to increase that number as we continue to grow. Me: Who is De’Andre Rucker at his core?

De’Andre I’m a husband, father and business man, in that order. My family means everything to me and I have a responsibility to provide mentally, emotionally and financially. When I walk out of the house every morning my family is who I represent. They are my core and my why.

Me: In what other markets do you plan to expand your Brand? De’Andre: We have expanded nationally

and internationally in Mexico, Toronto, Michigan, Alabama and now Ohio. We’re also adding to the brand by creating our own spirits (Liquor) and family entertainment. Me: In your opinion how can we build up undeserved communities?

De’Andre: We have to get the community involved in the community. We must treat them like humans and not like animals. Constantly creating opportunities such as job training and trades making them exclusively available to people in these communities. Me: How did you overcome obstacles while gaining success?

De’Andre: I kept going no matter what came. Things happen in life that we can’t control, but you can’t allow that to control your goals. I became a disrupter (big laugh) staying laser focused and understanding it is not about me and because of that I have the millions I have today and the peace to match. Me: What successful influencer have inspired you to go harder? De’Andre I refuse to go back to the life I come from. That’s my inspiration I want to show young black men that a greater life awaits them on the other side of negativity, which is SUCCESS.

any of us struggle with living a balanced life, or simply just managing life. We attend events after events, read books after books which promises to help us become Spiritually, Mentally and Physically Healthier. However, we constantly find ourselves wondering what that balance looks like, especially when we have to juggle, spouses, children, businesses, social clubs, ministry, work demands, diets, work out plans, so on, and so forth. We use the phrase :it takes a community to raise a child” and I believe the same is true for us to remain sane and productive all at the same time. In order for us to have a healthy lifestyle, it takes a community because healthy is more than having a tiny waste and good hair and nails, it’s a work that starts from the inside out/ It's having a healthy mind and spirit, it’s going back to the basics, where it’s God first, eating healthy without dieting, learning to workout without extreme plans and hiring a coach or mentor to help you keep it together and accountable.

MSM recently went to Houston, Texas to meet a Health Coach, Kathryn Samuels, who understands what it means to balance from the inside, out. We were so impressed with her quiet, yet commanding spirit as she taught her clients about proper lifestyle, why diets don’t work, portion sizes, mindset, deep breathing, stretching, and the right kind of exercises for the best results. Her plans are not necessarily geared to make you thin but to make you be the best version of yourself. Mindset, Soul, Spirit and Body. Kathryn’s own struggles with weight, health, and self-esteem led to her learning, and the understanding led to personal success (Kathryn lost 60 lbs. over 10 years ago, and has kept it off). Inspired by her own success, Kathryn sought the certi ications, training, and licenses she needed to help others get the results they want from life She says “my vision comes from a place of empathy. In the past I have struggled with my own self-esteem. It hasn’t always been healthy. I felt pressured to meet certain goals. I felt bad about myself and struggled with a nearly overwhelming fear of failure. That

We use the phrase :it takes a community to raise a child” and I believe the same is true for us to remain sane and productive all at the same time fear would cause me to put off working on my goals and make excuses; I didn’t have the time, I was too busy. Half-way toward achieving the goal I would quit. Often I was just short of completing my goal when I quit. I simply would stop too soon. I became stuck in that cycle. I lacked personal growth and I also struggled with my weight. But with a little help and determination I successfully changed my mindset and got the weight off along with the weight of regrets, low self esteem and more, and that is what I want to do for you.” Connect with Kathryn at www.kathrynsamuels.com Social Media @kathrynsamuels Tel: 850-261-2433

Ignorance of biblical history—or in some cases, historical amnesia—has left the church vulnerable to the ever-changing current of the culture. embrace and justify anti-Christian character and behavior. This is what happens whenever the church starts following the leadership of the culture and sacrificing historical biblical truths on the altar of relativism and trendiness. Because of postmodern, post-Christian, and post-truth ideologies, the modern church—the “set apart” ones—has traded its unique commission to be salt and light in the world, to expose darkness, and to collect its birthright of a heavenly home for open-mindedness, inclusiveness, non-judgmentalism, conformity, and a longing desire for the here and now. In essence, we have become the twenty-first century version of Esau. Scripture identifies Esau as a man who valued his current times over an eternal reward. He valued the seen over the unseen, and he forfeited what was permanent to gratify his temporary desires and ambitions (Hebrews 12:15–17). This is what the post-truth mindset has brought into the church. Ignorance of biblical history—or in some cases, historical amnesia—has left the church vulnerable to the ever-changing current of the culture. There are few things the Enemy enjoys more than God’s people being historically illiterate. C. S. Lewis, a British writer, Theologian, and Apologist, wrote frequently about what he called “the great cataract of nonsense,” our tendency to concern ourselves only with the present and divorce ourselves from the past. Lewis’ prophetic statement still rings true in our era, for to truly understand our

current times we need a historical perspective. Divorcing ourselves from the past makes us blind in the present. Furthermore, believers without knowledge of the past are spiritual infants in the hands of the Ancient Seducer and Fallen Angel. In the Scriptures, we see that every time God’s people forgot their history, apathy, anarchy, apostasy, and abandonment soon followed. And whenever the church turns her back on history, she will embrace appealing spokespersons who teach a future devoid of any type of reality. The Post-Truth Movement Is Not New Undermining the authority of Scripture in order to exalt human autonomy is a not a new thing. King Solomon said, “History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. Sometimes people say, ‘Here is something new!’ But actually, it is old; nothing is ever truly new” (Ecclesiastes 1:9–10 NLT). The waves of post-truth have steadily made their way into the church, disarming our discernment and desensitizing us to damnable teachings. The post-truth movement is actually rooted in the Garden of Eden, where the idea of sin was foreign. The concept of posttruth was crafted by a supernatural being who relied on an exceptionally cunning serpent to carry it out. The Garden was the original dwelling place for the first human pair, Adam and Eve, who were created sinless by God and who dwelled in an environment God called good. Adam and Eve became the first victims of a post-truth mindset when the Serpent moved them away from a theocentric view of the world to a humanistic one. God, and the authority of his Word, was no longer the centerpiece of their lives; self had become the focus. Self was the new god, and humankind’s opinions and feelings had become the new “truth.” There is no place on earth where we are untouchable by Satan. How can we put limits on the god of this world? If Satan can walk in a Garden that was perfectly created by God, then everything on earth is at his disposal. If God had to warn Adam

and Eve while they were in their state of innocence, what does that say about us who are born with a sinful nature? The god of this world is an imitator of the true God. Martin Luther said, “Whenever God builds a church, Satan builds a chapel next door.” Satan is drawn to anything God has his name on. If God’s name is on your church, job, marriage, or anything else, you can be sure Satan will be drawn there. WOW, thank you Pastor Travis, indeed these are some fierce warnings for the church and we now see why you embody the character of John the Baptist. Make sure to get a copy of ‘Warnings From The Garden: Uncovering The Wiles Of Deception’ and other reads by Pastor Tavares Robinson at www. http:// tavaresrobinson.org and follow him on social media at sttm.churchmiami.

Couple’s Therapy with David & Tanisha Burrus

There is nothing more powerful than a husband and wife who desire to out-serve one another. Love serves…. David Please don’t ever confuse happily “taken” with happily “married”. There are many married couples who love the idea of being married, more than they love one another, or the

marriage itself. They are just happy to say they are no longer “alone/single”. Make sure your love is pointed in the right direction before you marry them. ….David On any given day, you will find these inspirational and educational notes on David Burrus’ social media or hear them in a face to face conversation

eet one of the Prophetic voices that is sounding the trumpet and declaring the way of the Lord like John the Baptist did, Pastor Tavares Robinson. TAVARES ROBINSON is the founder and senior pastor of Sound the Trumpet Ministries of Miami, located in Miami, Florida, and serves as publisher of The Trumpet Magazine. He also serves as president of Watchman Publishing, which launched in 2018. He received a bachelor’s degree in broadcast communications from Ottawa University, in Ottawa, Kansas. While at Ottawa University, he was a three starter for the men’s basketball program, and he is currently recognized among others, for setting various school records. In his senior year at Ottawa University, the Lord interrupted the course of his life and called him to walk according to His plans and will. The Lord spoke to Tavares and gave him a new assignment. His new mission was to “point His people back to Him, and help guard them from the evil one.” Tavares answered the call and moved back to his hometown of Fort Worth, Texas. In 1999, he received a prophetic word that, “God was going to use him in a very strategic way in South Florida, that will open doors across the nation.” After three years of great trials and testing, Sound the Trumpet Ministries of Miami was established in 2004, and today the

Deception was not always the commonly accepted way to live, run a business, serve as a public official, or function as a Christian.

church has become a strong and vibrant place of worship. Pastor Tavares speaks with a bold prophetic voice, which turns the people hearts back to God. Here what he believes the church needs to know in this hour and believe me, it’s like nothing you’ve heard before, you want to ensure you have a seat, pen and paper for this one. WOW! is all we can say!!What warning does the church need to pay attention to? Because we are living in a post-truth age, truths and facts have become obsolete, giving way for perception to triumph over reality. Jesus warned us to be on the watch regarding this kind of deception, especially since we are living in the last days. Deception is running rampant throughout the body of Christ, and it doesn’t matter what denomination we attend or what side of the “persuasion” fence we sit on. Deception has intensified. Self-aggrandizement, social media fame, and a desire to be validated has helped flame this destructive fire. Our illiteracy of the Scriptures has made the Word of God become more of a resource than the very source in which we should live by. When the Word of God becomes a secondary resource, being visual and being appeased by the culture, begins to shape unbiblical views within those of the church. For example,

one of the greatest dangers facing today’s church is the unbiblical view of loving one’s self. Christ spoke repeatedly, concerning the requirements of following Him – denying oneself, and even hating oneself. The deception that has been projected by Satan is the complete opposite of what Christ, and Scriptures, affirmed. Yet, how many people believe in the call to love self? For this reason, it’s important to love warnings found in the Scriptures equivalently to the promises in the Scriptures. God is calling for the church to recover our passion for biblical truths in order to produce in us a true conformity to Christ.

the scriptures of post-Christianity Christian.

Can you share with MSM some excerpts from your latest book ‘Warnings From The Garden: Uncovering The Wiles Of Deception?’

When Deception Was Evil

Sure! The church and culture have entered into a dark and immoral era that I call the post-age epocha gradual shift from postmodern, to postChristian, and now post-truth worldviews. But exactly what do these three terms mean? Postmodernism posits that absolute truth is unattainable. All truth, all morality, is relative. Truth is subject to one’s own experience. What is right or wrong is whatever works for us individually. Postmodernism posits that there are no moral absolutes (Ironically, saying there are no absolutes is an absolute statement.). For postmoderns who reject absolutes and favor subjectivity everything is arbitrary. They believe meaning and morality are merely constructs of a society. In a post-Christian era, society is rooted in the practices and worldview of Christianity, but the beliefs that underpinned that worldview have been dishonored and abandoned; therefore, leaving individuals to perceive their beliefs, feelings, and rights are paramount. The postChristian period has by-and-large replaced the biblical perspective with the current trends of the time. In fact, its view of biblical Christianity is one of ridicule and contempt. Sadly, Christians themselves no longer consider the language and beliefs of

In 2016, Oxford University Press selected the term post-truth as its “international word of the year.” Living in a post-truth age is living in a world where truth and facts are obsolete. This mode of thought holds that objective facts are less important than one’s opinions, beliefs, or feelings. Perception triumphs over reality in the post-truth age. It’s an age in which dishonesty is considered harmless, especially if it helps to fulfill one’s own objectives. Simply put, the post-truth age is an age of glorified deception.

Deception was not always the commonly accepted way to live, run a business, serve as a public official, or function as a Christian. There was a time when deception was considered unethical and downright evil but no longer. Now many who ought to be following Christ’s example openly

The god of this world is an imitator of the true God. Martin Luther said, “Whenever God builds a church, Satan builds a chapel next door.” Satan is drawn to anything God has his name on. If God’s name is on your church, job, marriage, or anything else, you can be sure Satan will be drawn there.

Manhood is about accountability and responsibility. The sooner you own your “stuff”, the sooner you will be able to learn from the experiences. Question: As a black couple what do you consider your super power to be?

Answer: (David) What we have found to be our greatest strength as a black couple is our ability to relate to one another’s plight. More importantly though, it has been our ability to make the attempt to relate to one another’s plight when we don’t fully understand. One of the other things we have done is to learn how to leverage the odds. We understand that marriage in the black community is a rarity. We have often used that to fuel our marriage. In times when we have been challenged, we have made the decision to refuse to be the statistic. We have been intentional about creating a new narrative for our sons, and the generations that will follow us. In other words, our legacy has fueled our fortitude.

What key skillsets or qualities make you unique as African American leaders?

(Tanisha) What an incredible question. WOW! There are a couple of things that we have really been able to leverage as African American leaders. Tanisha and I both have a much different world view than many in our community. That is primarily because we have been intentional about making an attempt to engage and understand other cultures, world views and perspectives. This has shaped the way we lead. I strongly believe our ability think critically, and articulate globally has

really impacted our effectiveness as an African American couple and leaders. We classify ourselves as multi-lingual, as we have the ability to communicate on many levels with many demographics. We add value to both the sacred and the secular conversation, alike. We speak to both marketplace and ministry. We are just as comfortable community in the most urban environment or communities as we would be in a boardroom at a Fortune 500 company. What thoughtful/encouraging advice would you give to your younger selves when you guys were dating? Again, another brilliant question. I (David) would tell myself to glean as much as you possibly can from the elders in your community. The principles of love never change, and to have had the opportunity to observe and learn at an early age those things that someone with experience could have taught me would have absolutely been paramount. Adding to that, I would have told myself (Tanisha) to be more guarded with my heart. I recall some of the relational decisions that I have made in my younger years, and it would have benefitted me to be more guarded and more selective. Not closed off, but guarded. I have since

I (David) would also remind myself to always take responsibility for your actions. As men, and especially African American men, it becomes easy to blame what we didn’t have and who we didn’t have for the mistakes we have made.

learned that the condition of our hearts determines the condition of our lives. I would advise myself not to give too much too soon. I (David) would also remind myself to always take responsibility for your actions. We were created to lead and to dominate the earth. It is in our inherent nature to lead, and when we are not doing that, we are living contrary to purpose. your “stuff”, the sooner you will be able to learn from the experiences. Why is it important for men and women of color to lead and/or take leadership roles and decision making capacities?

(David) Simply put, the man or woman who isn’t leading isn’t truly living. We were created to lead and to dominate the earth. It is in our inherent nature to lead, and when we are not doing that, we are living contrary to purpose. (Tanisha) To add to that, there is a misnomer that leadership is about titles and positions. Leadership is about influence, and African American men and women are some of the most influential people this planet has ever seen. Without any effort we influence style, technology, the arts, sports and everything else we place our hearts and minds to do. We must lead, because our life’s purpose is directly linked to our capacity to lead and to lead well. If you could thank any black historical

There can be no success where there are no successors. You cannot grow together in age and experience and not gain wisdom.

What are your thoughts on taking risks/ making mistakes?

man/woman/couple for their contribution to society who would it be?

We have found that a risk outside of agreement in the marriage can be a detriment to all. When you are in a relationship, and especially a marriage, agreement is the strength of the risk. When the two are in agreement and in partnership, there are no failures.

(David) My response is probably obvious or expected, but I would thank the Obamas. I would thank them for the level of hope, class and grace that they reminded us was real and available. (Tanisha) I would thank Dr. Martin Luther and Mrs. Coretta ScottKing. Their imprint and influence is still shaping our culture as African Americans, but more importantly, as the human race at large. They have made an indelible mark that cannot be erased. Why is it important for the more matured, seasoned and experienced couples to reach back and help younger couples?

(David) There can be no success where there are no successors. You cannot grow together in age and experience and not gain wisdom. That wisdom is not just for you, but it is for those who are doing life with you, and especially those who will do life after you. It is our mandate as responsible matriarchs and patriarchs to assure that our wisdom is available, and that we are setting our future generations up for good success. Moreover, because we have such a deep history of broken homes, failed marriages and irresponsible relational choice, it is imperative that we work diligently to break the cycle of brokenness and despair in our communities. That starts with destroying the yoke of ignorance and misinformation. It is not just a good idea, but it is a mandate. We must be the information source of the future. How will they know if we don’t take responsibility to teach them?

(Tanisha) We both agree that risk is right. We also both agree that there must be a measure and degree of wisdom associated with the risk. Even in the most-risky situations, you must have the ability to count the cost. Having said that, risk in the context of relationship can be a slippery slope.

(David) Mistakes are the bedrock of growth. I submit that there can’t be authentic growth without a certain degree of healthy failures and mistakes. Having said that, there is a very distinct difference between a mistake and a foolish mistake. If you aren’t making mistakes, you aren’t trying anything new, and you are certainly not taking any risks. To grow you must make mistakes and take risks. What are three healthy habits you implement as a couple into your daily routine to maintain a successful relationship?

Having been married 16 years, there are things that we implement now that we have not always implemented. These things have made the difference for us. One of the things that we have established as habit in our marriage is the no devices rule. Our schedules often conflict, and in most-cases we only have 2-3 hours of alone time in the evening. We have decided that cell phones, laptops and tablets are off limits in those three hours. We make every attempt to do away with our devices, in order that we can give each other the undivided attention we desire. The second thing that we have implemented is intentional dating. We have seen how easy it is to get

into the slump of last minute plans, or no date plans at all. We have been very mindful to plan our dates, which usually means we alternate date planning (and paying). One week I will plan and pay for the date, and the next week she will plan and pay for the date. Finally, we have really been mindful to create new “firsts”. We realize it becomes so much easy to frequent the coffee spot around the corner, or the sandwich spot down the street. We have learned to get out of our comfort zone in order to experience new levels of fun. Creativity is a life source for a lasting marriage. If you could have any person in the world be your mentor and why? (David) If I could have anyone in the world mentor me, it would have been an author/speaker who recently passed away by the name of Dr. Myles Munroe. He really has been a voice of creativity and ingenuity for me. He has given me permission to dominate both secular and sacred, without having to compromise for either. (Tanisha) I would love to be mentored by Mrs. Michelle Obama, because she is a woman with huge vision, who is married to a man with huge vision. She has the type of grace that allows her to support from the side of the stage, while at the same time taking center stage in her own purpose and calling. What is your latest project and how will couples benefit?

Tanisha and I have launched Marriage Prep University Masterclass. This is an 8 week coaching program designed to give both a spiritual and practical perspective of relationships. It was created to give singles the tools they need to position themselves to choose right, and to thrive in the relationships that they have chosen. MPU Masterclass Was also created to give married couples to the tools to recalibrate their marriage.

TERRY -ANN PHILLIPS THE SAVED & FABULOUS FASHION DESIGNER In an interview had with Terry-Ann , recently, the designer revealed, her biggest influence, her highest achievement and more. Terry-Ann tell our readers who Terry-Ann is:

Tell us 'how did you get started in the fashion industry?"

First and foremost, Terry-Ann is a woman of God. She’s strong, creative and a passionate person. She loves life and all things fashion. Yes!

I got started by taking old clothes and revamping them to look new. Then from there my business was birthed.

What are some challenges you face/faced? Hmmm, that's a good question. There has been a few but I believe the major challenges I would point out, are fear and self doubt. You/Your brand have been featured on NY Fashion week and on several other

platform. What has been your highest achievement? Yes, I have had some major accomplishments here in the US and beyond, but my highest achievement was when I was featured on the cover page of the Jamaica Observer newspaper. I am from Jamaica so that was a proud moment for me to be nationally recognized in my own country. Why is it important for women of color to lead and/or work in leadership roles and decision making capacities?

It’s important for women of color to lead and take on leadership roles because we didn’t have the opportunity years ago. For me, it is so amazing to see how far we as women have come. We are out here crushing goals, becoming CEO's and millionaires while still remaining Saved and Fabulous. Who is your biggest influence? My biggest Fashion influencer is Victoria Beckham. She’s a mom, a wife and business woman in the Fashion industry, and she is killing all of it!

What are your thoughts on taking risks and making Mistakes? I would say 'go for it' no risks, no rewards! You won’t know if you will fail or succeed if you don’t take a leap, sure fear will creep in, it did with me, but you must push through and do it while being afraid. Mistakes help you grow, and great results oftentimes comes from the mistakes we make. How would you empower a struggling fashion designer? Oh wow! First I would say 'you just cannot give up, with all that is in you, it's time to get up!! If you've tried and tried again! Try again. Keep trying because nothing worth having comes easy. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. I am from the school of thought which says 'only the strong survive and the ones that don’t quit!' So yes, just keep pushing. Terry-Ann Phillips is the CEO of Saved and Fabulous. She is the preferred designer for celebrities like Sarah Jakes Roberts and locals alike.
