Cover Story

The Canadian Relationship Coach climbing to the top. "This has been the biggest fight of your life. You probably didn't even know that over the years you've been on such a journey. I definitely didn't know I was. I thought my journey started after my separation but

10

what I was reminded of, was that the years prior were preparation and training for the climb. I had no idea, that my devotional and prayer time was equipping me for what I was about to embark on. When I started intentionally pursuing healing and self-care, it was again preparation of a different kind. I’ve said throughout these pages that the mind, body, and spirit need to be in alignment to ensure a successful climb"

Davika's journey of becoming gave her purpose! The ending of one relationship was the beginning of many for Davika. The first was with herself. She took the time to understand who God created her to be. Picking up the broken pieces of her heart was a process and the therapy, she-needed to put them back together. The journey of becoming gave her clarity. "I was fully able to articulate my situation. Then complete the work necessary to heal." The journey of becoming gave her acceptance. She took responsibility for her own negative actions and thoughts. She forgave herself, and became at peace. "The journey of becoming gave me identity. I AM Davika Latoya. I choose to show up authentically for my beautiful daughter, my friends and purpose." God blessed Davika with a story to tell, a story of transformation. She believes because so many women lose themselves in relationships. They unknowingly repeat damaging cycles. This is why Davika wrote her book "Becoming Her" to help women heal. She shares her testimony to restore individuals and families. Her professional background in social work, education, and counseling goes a long way in communicating her message! "As a relationship and family coach, I journey with women seeking to redefine and normalize healthy relationships by first reclaiming their authentic selves. And I am ready to take that journey with you!" Follow Davika on all social media platforms and www.davikalatoya.com.

hy Not Protecting Your Brand or Business is Business Suicide!

Multiple Streams Magazine recently sat down with one of our favorite legal experts, Dr. Johnson to talk about the importance of entrepreneurs protecting their business. Orlando Johnson is an Intellectual Property Legal Consultant who works with Creatives looking to protect and expand their businesses and brands. In this feature, Orlando will be helping entrepreneurs like you to protect

your brand! Many people hear about registering their business, copyrighting, and trademarking. However, many people may not realize that trademarking is the highest form of legal protection for your business/ brand. Registering your business with your state offers you limited liability (separates

Legally Protecting Your Brand personal funds from business funds), tax benefits, and credibility, but it’s only recognized statewide. Copyrighting is for text-based works like books, articles, course content, songs, and the like. It protects your intellectual property on a federal level, but its purpose is for protecting the content (inside) of the business/brand and not the name/brand (outside). The most secure way to protect your business/brand comes in the form of a trademark. Orlando advises that every creative who wants to last pursue a trademark as a first step instead of an afterthought. Securing your trademark before you start your business has many benefits: ● Offers you security in (legally) owning your business/brand name ● Adds the law on your side for court situations for things like cease and desist letters ● Affords you the satisfaction of knowing that youʼre not “investing in nothing” should someone else decide to trademark your name and ideas before you do ● Helps your business/brand stand with longevity and have stability with your money

● Engages you in building legacy Even if you’ve started your business already and have not secure a trademark, now is a great time to get the process started and to see where your business stands. Orlando shares that wisdom is in being prepared. You can have a creative, innovative, and whitty idea all day long, but if it’s not protected, what was it all for? He says, “God aligns everything up when you turn your plans over to Him.” In fact, Proverbs 16:3 NLT says it best, “Commit your actions to the Lord and your plans will succeed.” Taking this action to protect the idea that God has given you will cause you to find more success and will allow you to leave a legacy. When asked why he believes creatives fail to trademark their work, he says it comes down to money. Think about it - entrepreneurs are focused on pursuing their passion and making money, not necessarily spending it.

Legally Protecting Your Brand As much as they might like to front the money as a beginning step, the mentality is to make money first, so they register their business with their state and get to work. By the time business gets to generating money, the trademark becomes a fleeting thought. When asked what should creatives look for in considering an attorney to help in filing for a trademark, Orlando gives plenty of things to consider. ● Find you an attorney that you can relate with and trust. ● Find someone who wants to see your business grow and isn't just in it for the money or the moment. Building relationship is more important than just getting a service. ● Consider the packages each attorney offers and determine if itʼs a good fit for you. ● Choose someone who is committed to the cause, who can help you see expansion and growth for your business/brand, even for years to come.

A bit of encouragement from Orlando for entrepreneurs out there making moves and building their brands: Anybody can create a product, but only you can build a brand. The brand is what brings people to you. In order to secure the bag, make sure you secure the brand. Make something that will last! THE INTERNATIONAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW

Having a reliable administrative specialist allows businesses to perform better. When a company is successful in their goals, it benefits the entire community and it's due in large part to the efforts of their administrative personnel. Today we talk to Seya Wilson, CEO of Virtual Office Hub, international Administrator. Who is Seya Wilson?

What is one thing your market would be surprised to know about you?

Seya is a late bloomer, “I took a long time to realize what I wanted to do, but I knew it was to help people advance something fundamental, but what I didn’t know. I am extremely purpose driven, spiritual, compassionate, and focused on moving ahead and bringing others along.”

My market would be surprised to know that I have much wealth of knowledge, in academia, social circles, politics, religion, business contacts and experience and just the everyday know how.

SEYA SAYS!

What is Seyaʼs biggest fear?

challenges. They donʼt know but they give me strength all the time. Especially the single mothers who work and mother without any limits. To my mom, how could I have done raising my son without you. You still special in my world.

My biggest inspiration (s) is/are my female friends, the ones I see work dog hard and succeed despite their

What is one advice that you would give to Caribbean entrepreneurs to help them expand?

My biggest fear is my parents dying and I am so honest about this because I would be at my most vulnerable.

To expand you will need to understand that different cultures demand different attitudes. You should find a business coach who can give you adequate opportunities and perspectives; who will tell you what you need to hear not what you want to hear. Then identify your niche… you cannot do 15 or 20 things. Find some things, maybe 5 that are what you do well. Be confident in those things AND own them. You will grow. And pray about it, consult with your coach often then pray again. Also, market and say what exactly you do and keep on saying what you do. Thatʼs my advice. 2020 came and I was relocating and the worst/ best thing ever happened, Covid. It came to change the world and I came to change the world too The World went virtual and so did I. So, I contacted my friend Dr. Joan Good, she guided me and gave me my first client. But what started me was crisis. What brought me clients was their own uncertainties. Fortunately, the virtual world has become practical for business people globally. So now I have a full workforce office job for business people to cater to all their needs.

A History Making Moment

Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson

A

nother history-making moment in the United States of America. Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson confirmed as the first African American woman to serve on this nation’s 233 year history of the US Supreme Court bench. Her story is one of perseverance. In the video Key Moments from Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court nomination hearings - Day 3, Judge Brown shares about a Black woman she met

on the Harvard yard her freshman year who encouraged her to persevere. Judge Jackson tells the story about how she would often feel out of place because the spaces she entered were very different from her normal life and did not reflect her typical surroundings. As a Black woman coming from a public school entering into the ranks of Harvard University, to say there was a culture shock would not be enough to truly explain how hard things must have been for her at the time. Through it all, she took the advice given to her that day on the yard and started a career that would lead her all the way to the Supreme Court. Although her extensive and diverse resume speaks to her competency to step

into this role, the odds were stacked against Judge Jackson as she endured criticism and rapid-fire questions from Senators during her 4-day long confirmation hearing. Her former rulings and perspectives on law were brought into question, yet many individuals and organizations wrote letters of recommendation on her behalf. These letters raved about her moral character; fairness in her law approach; integrity; familial ties to law enforcement which informs her perspective as a judge and advocate; and her diverse legal experience. Persevering once again, Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was confirmed on April 7th, 2022!

She will be sworn in this summer and will take her seat as the 116th Associate Supreme Court Justice upon the retirement of Justice Stephen Breyer. Not only will she be the first African American woman Justice, this will be the first time that four women Justices will take seat at one time, according to supremecourt.gov. Judiciary.senate.gov had this to say about Judge Ketani Brown Jackson, “The historic nomination of Judge Jackson is an important step toward making the Supreme Court look more like the nation as a whole.” And for this, we are glad. It is a step in the right direction and gives so much hope to the next generation and this nation.

You’re invited to earn money as an Airbnb host You could earn *$2,041 per month * This earnings estimate assumes 15 nights booked per month at forecasted daily prices. The forecasted daily prices are based on average prices for listings with a similar location, listing type, and guest capacity. How much you actually make may vary with your pricing, type and location of your listing, actual occupancy rate, season, demand, local laws, and other factors.

It’s easy to become an Airbnb host in most areas, and it’s always free to create a listing. Entire apartments, full homes, private rooms, and treehouses, are a few of the properties hosts have shared on Airbnb. Thinking about Airbing? Here are a few hosting tips: 1..Tell your story through your listing. Identify what makes you and your listing unique, and share that in your Host profile and listing. Include all the details of what makes you and your listing special, and be clear about what they can expect. It’s another way to connect with you. 2. Turn on Instant Booking. 3. Treat all of your guests equally. Though Hosts can't access profile photos until after a booking is complete, discrimination is often based on perception—and people may develop a perception of someone's race from things like first names. Instant Book removes those variables from the booking process. 4. Communicate early and often. Start the process by asking what the guest needs, what they can expect, what time they’re coming, what you can do for them, and how you can make their experience better.

5. Create a house manual to help them navigate your space and avoid surprises. 6. Over-communicate, it can prevent a lot of issues. 7. Provide a personal welcome. Treat every guest as someone special, provide personalized treatment to each individual guest. 8. Make sure to receive your guests in person unless you're not around. Providing the same welcoming treatment for all guests can help to limit bias, promote inclusion, and ensure everyone feels comfortable. 9. Pay attention to guests’ needs. Each guest have different needs, expectations, and experiences, listen to everything they say, and ask additional questions if you're unclear. Dr. Terisha Lee

Autism: More Than A Cause

Dr. Terisha Lee is a former Family and Theology professor turned Autism Awareness Advocate and Stay At Home Mom (SAHM). After she and her husband found out they were pregnant with twins while building their first home, she was immediately labeled a high-risk pregnancy. Not only that, but several months after her twin girls were born, she learned that she was pregnant again, this time a little boy.

She indeed was feeling mom guilt because her life had changed so drastically and she was still figuring out how to manage the everyday things of life.

Dr. Terisha is a mom who had to become an expert in her son’s diagnosis. If she hadn’t, no one would take notice or act. Her motto is "God's Little did she know, her son would be Ability is Greater Than any diagnosed with autism, but that diagnosis Disability," a quote she shares came with no initiative from anyone else, on her T-shirts. This wisdom only her own observation, concern, and she shares from her own advocacy for her son and his development. experience, with moms who are Dr. Terisha’s introduction into presented with this same motherhood was quite traumatic, she diagnosis. explained. The trauma she experienced came by way of several factors: the fact When asked what advice she that she was still a new mom to twin girls has for families with children for her first pregnancy and was building a on the spectrum, Dr. Terisha house at the same time; a lack of urgency had plenty to share from her and interest in her son’s case by doctors own lived experiences. and specialists who told her “if you want a Stop thinking that your call, diagnosis, I’ll give you one” and told her purpose, or anointing is what her son would and would not be able connected to you needing to to do without getting to know him; a lack have it all together or your of understanding by those in her sphere of “normality.” If God could use influence who told her “she should be anyone, it would be her son. grateful for a quiet child” and left her Because God’s ways are not our without much support; a lack of ways, who knows how He community as she had to now arrive late desires to win souls through and leave early to places like church and this experience. Who knows social events which once an outlet, but how He’ll choose to get the now made her feel like an outcast due to glory out of this. her son’s needs and differences.

Autism: More Than A Cause Dr. Terisha Lee Stop thinking you are bringing God; instead go looking for God! Sometimes we can get so caught up in our own religiosity that we lose curiosity with God. We slow down on waiting for Him and pursuing Him because we’re used to “bringing” Him everywhere that we go. While maturity in God is great and having the capacity to carry His anointing is desired, it’s even better to be a son or daughter of God and come to Him like a child, seeking Him out. On this we pray, “Lord, not my will, but thy will be done. What is it that you want me to learn and get from this situation? How may I grow closer to you through this so that you may get the glory and make your name great?” Don’t deny the power of God or stop Him from working. Progress may look differently than what we expect, but the Word of God tells us that His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. He will use the foolish things to confound the wise. Learn to see God in every moment, and when it’s hard

to communicate that to Him in prayer. God would rather you be honest with Him and yourself about where you are and how you’re challenged than to fake your faith. On this we pray, “Lord, strengthen me where I am weak. Show your might and your compassion. Help my unbelief. Strengthen my faith in your ability and your promise. Help me see all that you are doing and walk in gratitude as I wait for the fulfillment of your promise. Use my life and this situation for your glory!” Diagnoses are not the final say! They are a starting point to help direct our prayers. They give us insight to know how to engage with God and what areas to believe for, work toward, and expect a change. Diagnoses give us a specific way to see God move! So take it with a grain of salt and take it to the Father. When you receive a diagnosis, ask God for instructions on what to do next. This woman of God has come to know herself, her son, and God more intimately than she’d imagined. Through this diagnosis and autism advocacy experience, Dr. Terisha

has grown leaps and bounds as a woman, mom, and believer. She’s overcome some incredible heartache, hurt, rejection, and confusion. While she is still in the fight for access to viable resources for her son’s development, she leaves us with these words: “Is the only way for God to work in your life through healing?” No matter the cause, Dr. Terisha understands that her son’s life is more than a diagnosis. No matter what “they” have said about her or her son during this, she understands that what she believes and advocates for is what matters. No matter if he didn’t “fit in” or “behave normal,” she understands that God can still use her son’s life for His glory! Who is Pastor Joyce Williams? Well, Joyce Williams is just a loyal servant. I am a living, breathing fact that miracles do exist. The reason I am a miracle is because God blessed me. He gave me a new kidney and sent me to a foreign place, I had never been before, to meet three strangers in the same place at at the same time that God allowed two to be potential recipients for me and one to be a direct match. I was living in Chicago with a big congregation when tragedy struck. I went for a check up and found out that I had a chronic kidney disease. There are so many different situations that I was too anxious in and made too many rash decisions. I would tell myself to learn to wait and not be in such a hurry. What is your favorite cautionary tale and how would it help today’s generation? The answer I would give is to be a little patient. Today’s generation lives in the now. Smith-Edmonds began working at her father's McDonald's in her teens, where she developed a strong work ethic, sense of accountability, discipline, and focus. employee, but a successful business owner. Mya transitioned from being a CPA to owning several McDonald’s franchises. One of the most important things to remember as a business owner is gratitude and humble remembrance of your beginnings. World Economic Forum - What You Need To Know “This is not just a secular issue, this is biblical as well.” Ron Charles

This thought shared by Ron Charles in his Youtube video, “Do Not Be Distracted, Be Prepared For Major Changes,” speaks to the impact on society in reference to a new world order mentioned at the World Government Summit held this past March in Dubai. While millions of people were tuned into the Oscars on March 27, government officials, thoughtleaders, and decision-makers from all around the world were gathered at this annual event discussing the future of government systems to come worldwide.

Their website (worldgovernmentsummit.co m/about) shares this about the organization: “The World Government Summit Organization is a global, neutral, non-profit organization dedicated to shaping the future of governments. The Summit, in its various activities, explores the agenda of the next generation of governments, focusing on harnessing innovation and technology to

solve universal challenges facing humanity.” In his video, Ron points out that people are not aware of the things that are happening around the world that seemingly have nothing to do with them. He exclaims that the media distracts us from focusing on important issues like the things discussed at this Summit, rather, they draw our attention to things like Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars. Many

people, not just Americans, fail to enter into meaningful conversations about very real issues like the wheat shortage the world is experiencing as a direct result of the war happening overseas; or the talk of old ways of money and accounting not being a part of our future; or the result of said money changes and wheat and food shortages leading to the death of countless people across the world because they just cannot keep up. A new world order has been suggested and brought into question by facilitators of the Summit. What that means is governments would have even more control over its citizens and employ less freedoms. Essentially, it would put more power into the hands of fewer people and lead to a totalitarian type of society. Ron shares that what we are experiencing now is very prophetic, according to

Revelations 6:1-7 and we must be watchful, prayerful, and prepared for what’s to come. He urges us to cling to the Father and devote ourselves to reading and studying the Word of God. Although we are in this world, we are not of it and are instructed not to conform to the ways, fears, beliefs, and systems of this `1world. To this point, Ron shares this as encouragement: “Do not follow this world, but be the ones that those in this world follow.” Powerful words as he reminds us that although much is going on secularly, Christians must keep our eyes fixed on the Savior. The Process of Transformation

“Anything that God births must reproduce.” Desrene Stewart These are words of wisdom spoken by Pastor, Best-Selling Author, International Speaker, and Life Coach Desrene Stewart. She’s dedicated her life to helping individuals through their transformation process. She’s done so in the classroom at Purpose Academy in New York; across the pulpit at one of the ten worldwide churches she helps lead with her husband; in her best-selling book “Birthing Praise Out Of Your Pain;” and in conferences and retreats that she hosts through her Transformative Living Coaching Program. As you can already tell, Desrene is a woman who cares deeply about the whole person, no matter the age or location, and is skilled at helping people navigate their egg to butterfly transformation.

One theme that continued to ring true as I spoke with Desrene is that people are pregnant with promise. She believes that each person was born with a purpose and because every creation of God, including you, must reproduce, we are designed to give birth to something that makes a difference. Her philosophy communicates that it’s possible, beneficial, and quite necessary to live life on purpose, and for purpose. This is where many people struggle because they haven’t yet identified what their purpose is, so they remain stuck with a lack of direction and hope. In turn, this causes them to stay the same or move backwards. This is where Desrene’s expertise shines. She coaches

people through her Transformation Egg to Butterfly model that begins with a mind reset and ends with butterfly birthing. Step 1 of the Transformation Process is the Egg Season. It focuses on the mind. Desrene teaches that if the mind is not reset, it will be hard for the heart to receive. One must take ownership of their life choices and that begins with what goes on in the thought pattern. Step 2 of the Transformation Process is the Caterpillar Season. It focuses on the hard truth that shedding is a part of growth. In order for a caterpillar to mature, it must expand and that expansion causes its skin to shed. If it does not shed, it is liable to die because it was not meant to stay in its current skin; essentially, it would suffocate. Here, you’re taught that you need to let go of the past and latch to something that will feed your growth. A mentor or someone who understands the changing of season in people’s lives would benefit one in this stage. Consider the examples of Elisha and Elijah, Joshua and Moses, the Disciples and Jesus there was a pouring that occurred in preparation for the next season; a set up for birthing the next generation or solution for the people. Step 3 of the Transformation Process is the Cocoon Season. It focuses on the need to protect the promise and carry it to term. Desrene shares that you can’t abort what God is doing on the inside, so it’s necessary to realize the potency of what you’re carrying. “Be still and know that I am God (Psalms 46:10)” is the sentiment of this season. Here is where you learn that it’s okay to slow down, , park, and reflect on all that is happening in your life and with your life. Selfassessment is critical to transformation.

Step 4 of the Transformation Process is the Butterfly Season. It focuses on what the process has produceda new creature! “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold all things have become new (2 Corinthians 5:17).” Desrene’s coaching approach here is that the beauty of this season is that you don’t look how you used to look. Progressing from your past is a part of the process and it’s what allows you to sustain growth and beauty in this new body/identity/season. “You can’t help a butterfly to come out; you’ll damage its wings,” Desrene stated. She paints the picture of a butterfly carrying pollen from one plant to another for the sole purpose of fertilization and reproduction. Again, anything that God creates must reproduce! At the end of the day, it’s important to know that to live on purpose, for purpose, you must endure the process to get to your destination.
