Facebook and Instagram are two social media platforms that make it easy to share video content, which is the number one way to convert sales. Don’t sweat it! Putting yourself out there might seem intimidating at first, but you’ll be having fun in no time.

Let’s get down to business Create business accounts, so you can see all kinds of stats that track your page’s success. Posting 1-3 times a day is a great goal, but don’t worry too much about the number of posts. Just keep in mind that consistency is key.

So what should you post? Think about the best way to show off a product. A short demo or how-to can help people picture themselves using it. Give people a peek behind the scenes. It can be exciting to watch someone pack or unpack a new shipment of products. Show and tell! While showing off the products you love, be sure to tell people why you love them and how they make you feel. Do your customers love your products as much as you do? Little interviews are a great way to build credibility. PRO TIP: IF YOU DON’T WANT TO SHOW YOURSELF, JUST TURN THE CAMERA AROUND AND SHOW WHAT YOU SEE!

Let your personality shine Talk like a friend, not a salesperson. Tone of voice is important, just like it is when you’re having conversations in person. Creating great video content means showing off your authentic self, and nobody does that better than you. Have fun with it!

PRO TIP: USING THE BOOMERANG FEATURE CAN ADD A PLAYFUL ELEMENT TO YOUR VIDEOS.


Look your best every time Consider how your video is framed before shooting it. You don’t want to be too close or too far away from the screen. Try not to be in front of a blank wall. Showing something visually interesting behind you— even just a picture frame or plant— can be a nice touch. If you’re filming inside, it’s best to find a room with good natural light. It will look better than artificial lighting.

PRO TIP: MAKE SURE THE LIGHT SOURCE ISN’T DIRECTLY BEHIND YOU IN A WAY THAT MAKES YOU LOOK TOO DARKENED AND “BACKLIT.” 11


Hashtags, hashtags, hashtags Take advantage of product and brand-related hashtags, especially on Instagram. People use hashtags to search topics, so they can expand your reach. Use unique hashtags, like #avoncosmetics—a very general hashtag like #makeup will likely get lost in the mix. What time is it? Storytime Using the Stories feature on Facebook and Instagram is a great way to engage with your followers. They disappear after 24 hours, so people don’t want to miss out. One of the best things about Stories is that it’s so easy to add filters, stickers and text. It’s a great way to show off your personality.

And…We’re live! Going live on Facebook and Instagram can create an even more personal connection with your followers. People are drawn to these videos since they’re in the moment and unedited. Live videos are like an event, so promote them like one! Let people know when you’ll be going live before you broadcast. An excellent way to increase engagement is to address the video’s comments live on-air. It encourages more people to join the conversation.
