HUCK FINN FISHING DERBY - FUN FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY

Last weekend the annual Huck Finn Fishing Derby was held in the well stocked debris basin in Sierra Madre. The event allows participants to camp out overnight and brings out the young and old, from near and far. It is a refreshing reminder of how great this town is! Photos courtesy of J. SUPERVISOR BARGER COMES TO SIERRA MADRE

On Thursday the City Council of Sierra Madre held a special meeting with newly elect ed LA County Supervisor Kathyrn Barger to discuss the status of the MS4 Permit requirements (Waste Discharge Requirements for cities separate storm sewer systems) and ways for Sierra Madre to remain in compliance. Updates on the 710 Extension and Measure H were also given. SIERRA MADRE POLICE BLOTTER March 19, to March 25, 2017 During this time period, the Sierra Madre Police Department responded to approximately 254 day and night time calls for service. Sunday, March, 19 A report of a single car collision was reported at about 8:16 p.m. in the Auburn Parking Lot. After the investigation was concluded, it was determined that he driver was driving under the influence. The driver was arrested and transported to the Pasadena Jail for booking. Case forwarded to DA’s office Tuesday, March 21 A resident reported that an apparent hit and run occurred in the 700 block of Canyon Crest between noon and 2:30 p.m. The victim stated that there was a truck in the area that may have struck her vehicle and left after the vehicle was struck. Case to Detectives.

Friday, March 24 An alert resident noticed a suspicious vehicle leave the area of Los Rocas Dr and Sturtevant Dr at about 2:00 a.m. driving recklessly on Grandview Ave and called SMPD. Responding officers witnessed the vehicle commit several traffic infractions on Baldwin Ave. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and interviewed the three occupants. The driver was placed under arrest for reckless driving and transported to Pasadena Jail for booking. The two occupants were released with the vehicle at the scene. Case to the DA’s office for filing considerations 9:00 a.m. Officers dispatched to the 200 block of Park Ave., for a theft from a vehicle report. Victim stated that between 8:00 p.m. the night before until 9:00 a.m. her purse was missing from the front seat of her car. It appears that an unknown suspect(s) entered her unlocked car and took her purse. Case to Detectives for follow up.
