Teen attacks mom with pellet gun From Staff Reports
news@murphymonitor.com A 15-year-old Murphy boy will be charged with aggravated assault after an altercation with his mother last week at their home. According to a Murphy Police Department incident report, around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, neighbors in the 300 block of Hampstead Dr. in Murphy reported hearing yelling
from at least two individuals within a private residence. Apparently, a domestic dispute turned physical between two occupants of the home, later identified as a mother and son. According to Murphy Police Chief Arthur Cotten, the mother sustained a pellet shot to her face just below the lip and her lip was swollen. She reported that the pellet was fired by her son. The woman was treated for
a non-life-threatening injury at Methodist Richardson Hospital. The boy fled the scene in the family vehicle and was later arrested in the morning hours of Thursday, Sept. 29 by the Watauga Police Department and booked into the Tarrant County Jail. He was later transported to Collin County Juvenile Detention Center. “It took the authorities a while to locate him, but once they did
he was arrested without incident,” Cotten said. “The most important thing is he was arrested without incident and the mother is safe.” The boy is a student at a private school in Dallas and the school has been made aware of the situation. The Murphy PD is not releasing the names of the individuals in question until further information is obtained in the investigation.
