Soccer by Courtney Sycowski Soccer is the game My life Soccer gives my fame it gives my life Soccer is what make me live soccer is what makes me give soccer is the start of it all soccer is way better than the mall

I have always enjoyed to play soccer, ever since I was a little kid. It helps me relax, get my mind off things, and to clear my mind of any negative thoughts. After reading this poem, I really liked how the author Courtney Sycowski portrayed her ideas in this poem through Conceit, and Parallelism. Even though this poem seems very short, simple and has only 8 lines, I think it has a lot of meaning for someone like me who has a passion for the game of soccer. Because the way the author used Parallelism to reiterate the way of the importance that soccer has in association with someones life. Also I think the way Courtney Sycowski used Conceit was to compare Soccer to life.

Typical Teenager by Eddie Gee Typical Teenagers Happy, sad, sleepy, mean, Feelings often change, a common act of a typical teen, I find it rather strange. Talking to a friend, or sending them a text, they talk for hours on end, what’ll they think of next. They’ll leave their room a mess and give cleaning it a miss, but yes I must confess to also doing this. They think their folks are ancient, and utterly unfair, the result is to ignore them, before they start to swear. Their music cracks the ceiling, and makes their parents fume, emotions always reeling, and more time in their room. Being a teen may seem pretty bad, but from experience I can tell, it’s much worse for the mum and dad, for them its living hell!

I think that the roughest patch in my life so far has been my Teenage Years. In the first 2 lines of the poem, writer Eddie Gee perfectly describes what the average teenager almost always feels, he uses words like: Happy, sad, sleepy, mean, Feelings often change. As a teenager you often experience these emotions, and I think they do have a huge effect on your identity in a way, It can change the way you see things and how you feel about certain things. Beside the fact of the “emotional rollercoaster” of teenage life, Eddie Gee uses rhyming to show you how quick you “flow through” your teenage years. I think this is a short and sweet poem that can easily relate with many teenagers But in the end of it all, I know for a fact that I haven’t made my parents lives a living hell!

Cartoon Physics pt.1 by Nick Flynn Children under, say, ten, shouldn't know that the universe is ever-expanding, inexorably pushing into the vacuum, galaxies swallowed by galaxies, whole solar systems collapsing, all of it acted out in silence. At ten we are still learning the rules of cartoon animation, that if a man draws a door on a rock only he can pass through it. Anyone else who tries will crash into the rock. Ten-year-olds should stick with burning houses, car wrecks, ships going down -- earthbound, tangible disasters, arenas where they can be heroes. You can run back into a burning house, sinking ships have lifeboats, the trucks will come with their ladders, if you jump you will be saved. A child places her hand on the roof of a schoolbus, & drives across a city of sand. She knows the exact spot it will skid, at which point the bridge will give, who will swim to safety & who will be pulled under by sharks. She will learn that if a man runs off the edge of a cliff he will not fall until he notices his mistake.

As a kid, I will always remember watching cartoons and thinking anything was possible. I didn’t have a worry in the world, I was a hero in my own mind and I could do anything if I tried. This poem really interests me because it uses descriptive language and has a strong message. I think that the author has chosen ages under ten as years of innocence and is saying that children of this age shouldn’t be troubled the burdens of life, and should instead be allowed to believe in the fiction presented by cartoons or their imaginations.

My Father’s Hats by Mark Irwin Sunday mornings I would reach high into his dark closet while standing on a chair and tiptoeing reach higher, touching, sometimes fumbling the soft crowns and imagine I was in a forest, wind hymning through pines, where the musky scent of rain clinging to damp earth was his scent I loved, lingering on bands, leather, and on the inner silk crowns where I would smell his hair and almost think I was being held, or climbing a tree, touching the yellow fruit, leaves whose scent was that of clove in the godsome air, as now, thinking of his fabulous sleep, I stand on this canyon floor and watch light slowly close on water I can't be sure is there.

When my grandpa was alive, he would always take me to sunday mass. I remember I would always pull my chair to the closet and rummage through his huge collec;on of pork pie hats and fedoras to find the right hat for him to wear. The smell, I can s;ll remember, thick, heavy, warm, and it would always calm me when I smelled it. I loved my grandpa a lot, and a?er reading this poem it hit and warmed my heart. This poem brings back memories to me that I will always cherish. The author Mark Irwin uses great imagery to create a forest in the readers mind, at the same ;me he uses a strong metaphor to turn the closet into a forest throughout the whole poem, I think this plays a huge role in the poems meaning. The tone, to me, is a solemn, its deep, and humble, and it plays a huge role in the emo;onal aspect of this poem to me as a reader. I think This poem could have a strong effect, on someone who has a strong rela;on with a father or grandfather.

Relax by Blind 3y3 Design

Clearly this poem does not have any “readable literary elements, but it does have a pretty important tone/meaning. I chose this poem because I think that I have a busy life occupied by School, Friends, Family, Recreation and etc and sometimes I just really want to relax. I think that the author had the same amount of busyness in life as I do and made it into a poem that conveyed their feelings on how the just really want to relax. At first sight you just see a random jumble of words, but if you sit down and read it, I think you can develop a greater understanding of it and how the busyness of life can clog up your mind.

Peter, The Aries by Peter R*********

Peter, the Aries Autumn to Summer, I’m Here Growing, Changing, Strong

I wrote this poem, about me and my zodiac sign Aries. I also tried to include changes you experience through the seasons as you grow with the world. I am always growing, and changing not always physically, but mentally. I am always trying to better myself, challenge myself, and to learn and try new things to improve my physical and mental well being. I also tried to include my Zodiac sign Aries, to me this sign is important and affects my identity a lot. An Aires is Independent, Generous, Enthusiastic, and Courageous. I think these are the best words anybody can use to describe me. I tried to use the commas in this poem to add a dramatic pause between words, giving the reader more time to think about the meaning of my poem. For this poem I found the pre-writing part difficult because I couldn’t find a good enough Kigo, so I went with the basics and just chose the seasonal names.

Infinite Impressions by Peter R*********

To begin I would like to describe the infinity sign and how it is critically important to the meaning of the poem. I try to have a lasting effect on people, something the way they will remember me by, this is why I chose to use the infinity sign and filled it words that describe me to other people. I choose strong words such as, Responsible, Generous, Enthusiastic, Good-Hearted, and Happy. These are just some of the words that I want me people to remember me by for the rest of my life. I also chose to put my name, between the infinity sign, so the words I would have used to describe myself, would always connect back to me as a person.

Maxwell, My Puppy by Peter R********* I always wanted a pet of my own Like a hamster, fish, snake, or a green frog Or one that could always retrieve a bone That’s why I got Max, my cute little dog. I have always cared for little creatures Saving birds, dogs, rabbits, from being stray I’ve always loved pets different features Seeing my little puppy makes my day!

Max’s first home was the streets of LA When Maxwell first came to my family He was scared, and was not used to the cold, eh? But now he runs through snow like cavalry I love my puppy, and his warm cuddles He likes to stay dry, and avoids puddles We were told that Shakespearean Sonnets were to be written about love. So I thought to myself, what do I love, and what can I write about without it sounding sappy. So I chose my dog, Maxwell. As a kid, I always envied my friends who had dogs, their dogs always seemed to bring a sense of happiness and joy to the household, and they were always my friend’s playmate. When my family got Maxwell, a jack russell, chihuahua, parson’s terrier mix, it felt like there was a missing piece in a puzzle was found, my whole family loves Maxwell and he brings complete happiness and joy to our household as well. Sometimes when I am feeling down in the dumps, I can talk to my dog, because I know he will listen, and he can’t tell anyone. My dog is also my playmate we go on runs together, play fetch and all sorts of thing. I am so lucky to have such a great pet.

Parents by Peter R********* My Parents Always there for me My Parents Cares about me My Parents Loves me My Parents Protects Me My Parents Trusts Me My Family and Me

In my life, the people that I love and trust the most is my Parents and my family. I have a big trust for them, I can tell them anything. We do a lot of things together, and they always can make me happy. I think that my parents were the mains factors of who I am, they shaped me and my morals, told me what right and wrong, and they always told me to be happy and try to be nice to anyone no matter what, and I still try to do this everyday of my life. I think my parents teachings molded my identity in a way, they told me to be kind, generous, and happy.

Soccer by Peter R*********

Everyone Plays, Summer through Winter, Soccer. Soccer, It’s my game.

My favorite sport, is Soccer, and it will always be soccer. I grew up playing it, and it just stuck with me. It helps me relax, get my mind off things, and to clear my mind of any negative thoughts. Soccer is a key role in my life, it keeps me active, keeps me in shape, and keeps me busy. It also builds a strong relation with me and my dad, we both have a huge passion for the Netherlands soccer team whenever world cup comes around, we watch games together, and cheer together. I also think It could build a possible relation with me and my cousins in Holland, because we both cheer for Feyenoord Rotterdam, my family’s soccer team. For my kigo, I choose to use the names of the seasons that I play soccer in, which is Summer through Winter. For my keriji, I chose to use, “Soccer.” which separate the first half “Everyone Plays.” from the second half “Soccer, It’s my game.” I also chose to use many commas to add pause, to help the reader to again have a greater understanding of why soccer is so important to my life.

Identity Vignette by Peter R********* 彼得, ピーター, Пітер, Питер and Pieter. This is my name written in many different languages with many different pronunciations, but they all mean thing the same to me. Peter, it’s my name, and the meaning of my name is “Stone”. My name originated from the Greek word Petros which means “Stone”. But it is now used in many different cultures which include: English, German, Dutch, Swedish and many more. Even though it is being used in so many cultures I still don’t hear it that much, I don’t think really that I have a common name, which is a good thing, making me “unique” in a way. In reality I don’t think that description of my name relates to me or my identity. To me my name represents a boy, tall, strong at mind, a sunshiny, warm, summers day, pride in myself and who I am. It reminds me of a hot cup of cocoa to warm me after a long, cold, winter’s day. Some of the key factors that contributed to my name is the fact that on both sides of my family the name “Peter” is a very strong name, both my great grandfathers had this name, one of them was even a Captain in the Dutch Army during World War 2. My parents say if those two great grandfathers were bad people, “Peter” probably wouldn’t of been my name Also, to quote both my parents, “We wanted you to have a Dutch sounding name to match your middle and last name”. My middle name is D******** which means “Peoples’ Ruler” and my last name is R*********. Both names have a very Dutch origin. I think that even though my heritage is scattered all over Europe, I feel proud to call myself Dutch and I take pride in having Dutch heritage. Through my life, I have been told that I am good leader, at the time that didn’t really mean anything. But after doing research into my name, I was surprised to find out that my middle name meant “Peoples Ruler”, I thought this might of had a correlation with my leadership and my confidence around people. Overall, I think that my name does affect my Identity, It could mean either good things or bad things to certain people. But to me, my name will always stay the same. It will always be a warm, nice, calm, and peaceful name that will make me happy with who I am.
