Girls’ Track By: Kaiya Hintz

The girls track season was a season that no one will forget. The head coach, Coach Piper and the assistant coach, Coach Marvel; lead the girls’ team to achieve many victories. Throughout the season, all of the girls got to try many different events and become better at the events that they did. The girls track team received many ribbons and medals from invitationals, conferences, and the Fulton-County meet. At the sectional meet at Tremont we had two girls qualify for state. Anna Webel got 2nd in shot put and 1st in discus. Anna is going to state for both of these events. Anna also broke the high-school girls’ discus record at the Sectional meet with a throw over 112 feet. Rachel Noy got first at Sectionals for pole vault with a vault of 7’3”, and is going to State. Anna Webel placed 4th at State for discus. There were many personal records throughout the season. Coach Piper and Coach Marvel showed us how to win and how to have fun doing it. This track season was a success and it will be a shame that this was the 8th graders last season as junior high students. At Sectionals we placed 6th as a team, with many faster times, farther throws, and higher jumps. All of the girls on the track team are proud to be a part of something that challenges you, and always has another adventure waiting around the corner.

IAR Door Decorating Contest Written by: Isabella Garner

In the previous years, people may have known decorating your doors for PARCC or ISAT testing, but this year for testing we did IAR which goes with our theme of pirates, SpongeBob, and under the water stuff as well. Decorating the doors is a way for the students to be able to connect and have fun before testing. It also lets the students know on certain doors what they can do to feel better and have a better attitude towards the testing. Some kids just like being a part of it so they can show off their art skills. Really though this is for students to get in the right mindset for testing.

The Night at the Museum By: Josie Webel On April 30, the sixth graders participated in “The Night at the Museum”. Each student researched a topic that they were interested in throughout the ancient time period. It was for social studies, so I asked Mrs. Rude a couple questions on how it came about and specific items she liked the most. She always read the book Wonder to her students when she was an English teacher and in the book they had a Night at the Museum. Last year, she moved to being a social studies teacher and she saw that her students did a great job on their Egyptian projects so she decided to do their own Night at the Museum finally. She loved how the student’s family and friends were also incorporated into it. She’d like to incorporate all 6th grade classes and share projects with other classes next year. The sixth graders really liked it. We prepared for around a month before the date, and all students did an awesome job!
