Junior High Cheerleading Written by: Ashlyn Slayton The 2018-2019 cheer team had 16 members. They won 2 first place awards, 2 second place awards, 1 third place, and 1 fourth place award. The cheer team was led by Coach Ellison and Coach Renfroe. The team consisted of five 8th graders; Erica Ricconi, Gracie Oldfield, Ali Bolton, Josie Gibbs and Arynn. Sievers; Three 7th graders; Kenna Mahr, Rachel Noy, Preslie Koenig; Eight 6th graders; Ella Johnson, Claire Hanlin, Kayla Able, GIllian Lanser, Jordan Atchley, Lily Swanson, Sterling Anderson, and Kennedy Chaning. They won 1st place at the Pontiac competition, 1st place at Farmington, 2nd in Peoria. At ICCA, they placed 4th and at the state IESA competition they won a 2nd in cheer routine and 3rd in full dance routine. Way to go girls!

December All Stars Written by: Isabella Garner The All-Star Student for 6th grade is Noah Wise. Noah Wise is 12 years old. His parents are Ethan Wise and Erin Wise. He has five siblings, Kyle(15), Wyatt(10), Caleb(8), Sam(5), and lastly Luke(2). Noah is in JFL. Noah’s non-school related activity is Boy Scouts and camping with his fellow scouts. His hobbies are football and playing outside in the summer. Noah's future goal is to be a pilot. Way to go Noah! Lastly, you may like to know is Noah likes to play Fortnite. The All-Star Student for 7th grade is Isabella Garner, also known as Izey G. Izey is 13 years old. Her mom is Karen Salem-Garner and her dad is Lawrence Garner who is deceased (no longer alive). She is the middle child of two siblings, Arabella Garner(11), and Gabriella Salem(20). Izey’s current extracurricular activities are dance, newspaper team, and chorus. She also is in the W Club and the Short People Club, both made by her friends and fellow students. Her hobbies are writing poems, dancing, taking pictures, drawing, and most importantly politics. Speaking of politics Izey wants to be a politician when she grows up. Something Izey wants you to know is she is not popular and wants more friends doesn’t matter who you are you will always get a chance. The All-Star Student for 8th grade is Shawn Allard. Shawn is 13. His parents' names are Bobby and Alexis Allard. He has one sibling Macayla (19). Shawn’s hobbies are volunteering with his mom and hanging out with friends. He has a great future goal to be a teacher. Something Shawn wants you to know is that his favorite subject in school is math.

January All Stars

6th Grade All Star is Daisy Becker. She is 12 years old. Her mother is Jessica and she has a 4-year-old sister, Lily. Daisy is in band, chorus, and art. She is also in track. She babysits in her extra time. She hopes to own her own business someday. She would like you to know that four of her closest friends do not go to this school. 7th Grade All Star is Gilda Guess. She is 12 years old. Her parents are Dottie and Chris. She has a 9-year-old sister, Gracie. Gilda likes to do gaming, drawing, and writing. She wants to be kind every single day and stay positive. She wants you to know that she is helpful, caring, funny, and quiet. 8th Grade All Star is Allison Rohrer. She is 13 years old. Her parents are Kevin and Danielle. She has two younger siblings, Jo Jo and Holly. Allison’s extracurricular activities are Science Olympiad, Scholastic Bowl, Band, Choir, and Art. She is also in 4H outside of school. Her hobbies are reading, playing the flute, and singing. Allison would like to own her own business someday. She would you to know that she is in the Hufflepuff house.

Girls’ Basketball By: A.J. Rutledge

Junior high girls’ basketball consisted of two fierce and hardworking teams. Throughout the year they worked on fundamentals and game plan. Your well known 7th grade team was coached by Mrs. Gauf and your 8th graders by Josh Putrich. The 8th graders played two games in regionals and got knocked out their second round against Monmouth-Roseville. It was a very intense and close game. As for 7th grade they also played two games and lost to Parkview. Both teams had a great season. Boys Basketball Written by: A.J. Rutledge Throughout the year of 2018-2019 basketball these boys have worked to improve their game. Every one of them worked very hard to get where they are now. With great coaches including Mr. Benson and Mr. Swearingon (Roy) they have become well taught teams. Your 7th grade boys played two games in regionals losing to Peoria Quest. As for 8th grade, they played three games and lost to Dunlap Valley in the championship. Both teams combined had a great year. Volleyball Written by: A.J. Rutledge

This year for volleyball these girls learned many new things and ways. Improving each and every day they were prepared for upcoming years. They worked very hard to get to where they are now. Both teams worked together as they were sisters and even brought a little bond together. Their coaches were Mrs. Thompson, for 7th grade, and Mrs. Gauf, for 8th. Your 7th grade girls made it one game in regionals losing against Parkview, and your 8th grade also one game losing against Illini Bluffs. Both teams had a great year and are all ready for next season.
