On and Victors Vanquished

Losing is just as important as winning

In the recently concluded Palarong Maynila, winners have been declared but I would reckon the teams who didn’t make it deserved an accolade as well. Putting your heart and soul through the “game of your life” was no easy feat

When the games were happening, everyone was hopeful and their spirits were way up People were chanting the names of their teams hoping to snatch that coveted title emblemed with a gold medal around their neck. However, games have victors and vanquished, and while we all vie for the former, most end up with the latter.

Training was arduous and time-consuming. The players were always drenched with saltwater – either with sweat or tears They beat their bodies again and again, making it their slave so that the dreams in their hearts will come to reality. And yet, some would still fell short.

Regardless of the outcome, everyone has their own moment, and that should be the thing that is on top of everyone’s head. The games shouldn’t define who they are for the spectators and judges have not seen all the grit and grind the players had been through As mentioned, the players may have lost the game but in the end, still gained. They have gained experience, new friends, and a character that was put to the test, and its limits.

Losing is just as inevitable as winning, all the while, just as valuable.
