It influences our capacity for managing stress, relating to others, therefore maintaining one's mental health is important

According to some of the students of Isabelo delos Reyes Elementary School (IRES), what is becoming a problem now is the pressure of their parents or guardian on their children

Saving Nature, One Bottle at a Time!

Spearheaded by SPG Adviser Mrs Faustina Panganiban, and the school principal Mrs. Eleodora B Vergara, the “Pet Bottles Recovery Project” came to reality at Isabelo Delos Reyes Elementary School on October 2022.

The goal of this project is to lessen the waste, learn how to segregate, and then recycle it so it could be used again This way, the children would be able to see that instead of throwing them, ending up in a pile of trash, it could still be valuable

To do this, a schedule would be given to the SPG members to collect the bottles in every building and stock them in the storage box

The SPG members start to collect the bottles after their class

If the SPG member is absent because they got sick or they’re simply busy about their studies, they will ask the SPG adviser to reschedule their duty, so that it will not affect their studies

This project is a reminder to the SPG members and the entire IRES community to dutifully collect plastic bottles to save and clean the environment, and for us as a student to learn how to be responsible students are acads and the pressure of their parents. Speaking freely about mental health may contribute to removing stigma and misconceptions, as well as motivate those who are struggling get assistance and connections with others.

"Siguro makatutulong ako sa pakikinig sa mga rants nila" according to a sixth grade student.

People can help with mental illness by listening to their rants, that way the weight of their feeling is reduced because they share their problems.

It can also be very helpful to recover from mental illness to have a support system whether it be through self-help groups or close friends and family.
