VA Breaks Ground on Expanded Clinic in Ravenna

T
he U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs recently announced that VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System (VANEOHS) has officially broken ground on a new 16,000-squarefoot outpatient clinic in Ravenna, a project aimed at significantly expanding services for area veterans. Located on Loomis Parkway, just east of the Parkway Medical Center, the future Ravenna VA Clinic will replace the existing facility on Chestnut Street. The new building is nearly 50% larger and is slated for compleRavenna VA Clinic groundbreaking tion by early 2027. Designed around the VA’s Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model, the clinic will feature architectural elements that support team-based, integrated care. The design embraces national VA standards aimed at improving patient experience through layout and function. The expanded space will allow the VA to offer enhanced services – including on-site podiatry and optometry, complete with an optical shop for eyeglass fitting and dispensing. The clinic will also provide primary care, mental health, nutrition, nursing, pharmacy and social work services. The project’s construction is being led by Engineering Design Technologies, with Martin Posthauer, president of construction, representing the firm at the April 15 ceremony. Additional speakers included Jill Dietrich Mellon, executive director of VANEOHS, and Dr. Paul Fantauzzo, medical director of the Ravenna VA Outpatient Clinic.
