How has your experience at Teck been so far, and why did you choose to do a co-op at Teck?

My experience at Teck so far has been incredible and I've been extremely grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such kindhearted and intelligent people. Choosing to do my co-op at Teck was an easy decision for myself as I knew the depth of learning I would receive would be immeasurable. In this experience, I've learned how to use 10+ new technology platforms to assist in recruiting, and support in the hiring process of 30+ new co-op students. To go on, the Teck student community is also a part of what has shaped this incredible journey. I get to feel so connected to both my team and my work, and I couldn't ask for more.

Was there anything that you did in high school or university that sparked your interest in your current major?

By the end of high school, I knew I wanted to pursue a degree in business. I found a deep interest in how various companies would strategically place their brands and market themselves to be desirable to us. I originally thought I would pursue a concentration in marketing, but as I continued to be more engaged within my student community in university, my interests shifted. If there's one thing I would recommend to any student starting in university, it would be to join student unions, clubs, organizations. Getting involved in these clubs really helps you with getting some more hands-on experience and learning more about what drives your interest for the future. As I continued being active in student organizations, my interests shifted towards finding talent and recruitment. The real experiences you gain doing the work are what I have found to really shape your growth and develop your interests.

What advice would you give to someone hoping to land a co-op position?

Tailor your resume!! As a co-op recruiter, one of the key things I've seen in good resumes is that they are clear and hit the exact skill points and areas of interest expressed in the job description. By utilizing key words in the job description and editing your resume to include those key words if applicable, your chances of being noticed are that much higher. Further, when interviewing, making sure that you've done prior research on the company and on the role is crucial to shape strong questions and answers. Lastly, remember that at the end of the day, no company is looking to hire someone who is almost robotic. Just be yourself and be genuine in your answers and abilities!

In a world where beauty brands often emerge from high-end labs or celebrity collaborations, Glow Cosmetics stands out as a refreshing exception: a cruelty-free, vegan beauty line built not in a boardroom, but in a Vancouver kitchen by three high school students with a vision. What started as a quarantine side project is now a fullyfledged brand known for its handmade lip products, adorable accessories, and heartfelt community spirit. With over 1,000 Instagram followers, more than $500 raised for charity, and nearly five years of consistency, Glow proves that passion, ethics, and creativity can turn even the smallest idea into something with real staying power.

The story of Glow began in 2020 during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, when three local Vancouver high schoolers found themselves searching for something meaningful to do during months of lockdown and uncertainty. With school moved online and their extracurricular activities put on hold, the trio turned their attention to something both fun and uplifting: homemade beauty products.

What started as a few batches of sugar lip scrubs made from ingredients in their kitchen soon became a passion project. Together, they formed Glow Cosmetics, determined to create a beauty brand that was not only kind to the skin, but kind to the planet—and people, too.

Beyond lip care, Glow also offers a growing collection of handmade hair clips, beaded bracelets, and small accessories. These products are often designed seasonally or as limited edition drops think flower-shaped barrettes in spring hues, or glitter-dusted butterfly clips that take customers back to the early 2000s. The founders handcraft many of these pieces themselves, giving each one a unique, personal touch. The accessories complement their beauty line, promoting the idea that self-care and style can and should be fun, affordable, and expressive.
