

I am in the automotive industry. Like a lot of people, I am very involved in my work. I am very passionate about my career. I read and listen to self-development and self-education books every day. I was doing pretty well but I knew I could be doing much better. I felt like I woke up every day and let the day take me wherever it wanted to. I was just reacting to the demands of the day all day long. it was like clay shooting blind folded. You can hit the target every now and then but once you remove the blind fold you find a whole new level of precision.
The world we live in is getting more and more cluttered. we have more distractions than ever before. business competition is tougher than ever. customer expectations are rising daily. between the news and social media most of us consume more information in just one day than we did in an entire week just 10-15 years ago.
I’ve always known that writing your goals down every day is the most effective way to achieve them. I’ve also known that journaling your thoughts and prioritizing your day before your day starts is how to get the most out of each day. Up until I created this journal I never quite figured out the best way to do this.
I’ve personally struggled finding ways to track my progress for my goals. I’ve struggled with determining what action to take that will move closer to my goals. I’ve struggled with just getting thru all the daily tasks, activities, work, and distractions to actually find the time to work on my goals. Journaling my thoughts, and prioritizing my days did not seem like it was even a possibility.
I knew I had to do something or I would never reach my full potential. All of my most ambitious goals would never happen. So, I decided to do something about it. I created my own daily journal.
The journal I created has completely changed my life. I have found ways to address all the most common challenges a motivated, and goal-oriented person will face on a daily basis. This is for the achiever who wants to reach higher but needs a little structure, guidance and something to help keep them directed towards their goals in this distracting, demanding world.
I’ve included some of my favorite quotes on each page. some by famous people. Some by not so famous people (myself and others in my life that have made a positive impact on me). on each page under the quote for that day you will write down all of your short-term goals (1-12 months) and long-term goals (1-10 years). you do this every single day in the morning because there are days that present opportunities to work towards your goals and there are days that do not. You want to have these fresh on your mind every day so when the opportunity presents itself you are aware and focused. Writing your goals down every day over time lights a fire in your belly and builds this major commitment to the achievement of your goals.
After you write your goals in the morning on the next page you will write down the time you went to bed the night before. this has a bigger impact than I expected at first. It really gave me insight on the amount of sleep I was getting each night. which helped me find the connection between sleep, my energy levels and productivity.
Then you get all your most important tasks written down. this helps prioritize and it creates a mental commitment to those tasks.
Next you will write down something that you are grateful for each morning. There is nothing more beneficial to your psychological state than thinking of something your grateful for every day and writing it down. Life can give you plenty of reasons to be angry, upset or think that life isn’t fair and everyone has it better than you. odds are if your reading this you have plenty to be grateful for. think of something your grateful for every day and write it down. you will see that you don’t have it as bad as you think you do. What could possibly be the most effective part of this journal is the part that forces you to decide what action you will take that day that will move you closer to one of your shortterm and long-term goals. This is where I have found the most success with this journal. It’s downright scary how fast you can achieve your goals if you really put some thought into what you can do to work towards them every day and take ACTION.
The rest of the page is intended to be used at night time before bed. When you get home at night you will give yourself a huge sense of achievement by writing down all you accomplished that day. it feels amazing to see how much you got done in one day. or on the other hand, it can make you realize you didn’t get much done at all and you need to step it up.
Then writing down the most incredible moment you experienced that day is a great way to reflect on the most positive part of your day.
Writing down the most valuable lesson you learned that day really forces you to think about your day. Find something that you can take from your day that you can apply to your life so you don’t have to learn that lesson again.
Then, finally you will set up the following morning. write down the routine that will start your day the next day. this is the part that you can start introducing new habits for your morning routine and actually stick with them. Whether it’s meditating, exercising, stretching, reading, helping your kids get ready for school or whatever thing you have not been able to add to your mornings.
Then you will repeat this every day. If you accidentally skip a day, it’s ok. Just get back at it the next day. This book has about 2 months’ worth of pages for journaling and goal setting.
