Internet ha abierto todas las fronteras. Lo más fascinante quizás sea el modo en el que cualquiera puede convertirse en “alguien” reconocido mundialmente. Para muchos casos el cazatalentos que te descubría milagrosamente por la calle es ya otro en la cola del paro, y pasar cien mil castings ante un jurado demasiado crítico ya no tiene que producirte retortijones al despertarte. Ya ni siquiera importa si no te escogen para la tele. Otra cosa es que quieras ser un actor de Hollywood con todas las de la ley, incluida algun día la vanidosa estatuilla en la mano. Con plataformas como Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Flickr, Blogger...Tienes un poderoso arsenal en tus manos para promocionarte sea cual sea tu especialidad. Y el mundo te ve.
Internet has opened all frontiers. The most fascinating thing is maybe the way anybody can be “someone” and become recognized worldwide. In many cases the head-hunter who could miraculously discover you on the street is now just one more queuing at the job centre, and you don’t have to wake up in the morning of a casting with cramps in your stomach having to get through thousands of castings infront of a very critical jury. It doesn’t even matter if they don’t select you for the TV. Another story is if you want to be a Hollywood actor, maybe even getting to hold that vanish little statue in your hands one day. With platforms like Youtube, Facebook, Myspace, Twitter, Flickr, Blogger...You have a powerful arsenal at your hands to promote yourself whatever is your specialty. And the world will see you.

In the music industry, the mayor labels finally bow before the Peer 2 Peer, and this obviously means that the people don’t spend so much on CD’s, except for your lifetime idols whose material you will always like to collect. For that reason even the dinosaurs of Rock are back touring the world. Live shows move people and those who were born for that are the ones remaining. And although it’s easier for the new bands to become known, the “natural” selection continues to be hard. We are too many wanting to stand out in something, whatever our art or capabilities are. But it’s wonderful to feel happy when you suddenly see you’ve reached the 1000 fans on your splendid fanclub on Facebook, or that users from any spot on Earth leave you lovely messages of admiration for the videos or pictures you’ve posted, and that smile on your face nobody can take away. Ok, maybe you’ll never become a millionaire with this and maybe you will never be on the red carpet either, but in your personal Universe, the star is YOU.

En la música, las grandes discográficas se rinden finalmente ante el Peer 2 Peer, y eso significa obviamente que la gente ya no gasta tanto en CD’s, a excepción quizás de sus ídolos de toda la vida cuyo material siempre gusta coleccionar. Por este motivo hasta los más abuelos del Rock han vuelto de gira a los escenarios mundiales. Lo que mueve gente son los shows en directo y los que nacieron para ello son los que permanecen. Y si bien las nuevas bandas lo tienen fácil para darse a conocer, la selección “natural” aquí también es dura. Somos muchos queriendo destacar en algo, sea cual sea nuestro arte o capacidades.Aunque valga decir que es maravilloso sentirse feliz cuando de repente ves que has alcanzado los 1000 fans en tu flamante club en Facebook, o que usuarios de mil rincones del planeta dejan mensajes de admiración y cariño por tus videos o fotos, y esa sonrisa en el rostro no te la quita nadie. Ok, quizás no te hagas millonari@ con esto, ni tampoco estés un día sobre la alfombra roja, pero en tu Universo particular, la estrella eres TÚ.

Her name sounds like she’s a bad girl and the expression on her face certaintly reminds us of that mischiveous child who stares at us through those captivating and incendiary eyes and a smile that will disarm u instantly. Mrs Malone, native from Edinburgh and with a porcelain skin, radiates elegance as a photo-model as well as in any of her burlesque or striptease spectacles and in fact, the reason why she is appearing on our pages i’s not just because we decided so, but because she has earned such fame all over the world with hard work and amazing skills that she’s worth it. And besides, it was just perfect that she had some pictures of her wearing ne of those Mexican skull tattoos. We couldn’t have found a better image to illustrate our Halloween cover! Scott Cole 2009

La señorita Malone, nativa de Edimburgo y con piel de porcelana, derrocha elegancia tanto como modelo de fotografía como en sus espectáculos de bailarina burlesque y striptease y si de hecho aparece en nuestras páginas es porque no sólo nosotros hemos decidido que es una de las mejores PinUps, que se ha ganado a pulso estar reconocida mundialmente. Además nos ha venido como anillo al dedo que tuviese una sesión de fotos maquillada como uno de esos famosos tatuajes de calaveras mexicanas. Qué mejor imagen para ilustrar una portada tan “halloweenera”!

Nos alegramos enormemente cuando al escoger a la PinUp del mes, dábamos con dos estrellas en lugar de una: Nuestra cover girl del mes es modelo para uno de los mejores fotógrafos del Reino Unido: Scott Cole, un tipo simpático de Birmingham que vive la vida alegremente y dispara fotazos como el que hace rosquillas. Su fotografía es sencillamente perfecta, y no importa si lo que retrata con su cámara son sensuales mujeres, bandas de Rock, coches o paisajes. Lo exultantemente pulido de su trabajo te deja siempre queriendo ver más. Su interés por la fotografía se remonta a 1994 cuando se le ofrece la oportunidad de trabajar para un periódico local. Gracias a ello consigue acreditación internacional como fotógrafo de Deportes de Motor e incontables revistas especializadas publican sus instantáneas en portada. Incluso llegará a ganar el título “Formula 1 Grand Prix Moods Winner”, al que se presentaron más de 9000 candidatos. Pero su apetito visual va más allá: Muchas noches ha pasado de gira junto a bandas de Rock que han actuado por todo el Reino Unido, captando unas imágenes que han impresionado tanto a los artistas como a sus fans, tal es su precisión al capturar la acción en el escenario. Algo que para quien entiende un poco sobre fotografía, no es fácil en absoluto. Su habilidad en esta faceta le ha convertido en alguien popular que es contratado año tras año para que capte lo mejor de los músicos en escena o en el backstage, y sus fotos promocionales así como las de actuaciones en vivo, han ilustrado revistas, posters, CD’s, DVD’s y calendarios en todo el mundo, incluyendo USA, Europa y Australia.

Y como los coches han sido siempre una de sus pasiones, continua hoy fotografiándolos, sobre todo dentro de la escena Hotrod/Dragster. Así que finalmente está combinando todos sus temas fotográficos favoritos, incluyendo en ellos coches de carreras y explosivas mujeres, con buena música de fondo mientras realiza sus sesiones... Y en fin, nos cuenta que si le llevas a una playa donde el sol brille y haya muchas chicas desnudas, seguro que allí estará él con su cámara... Ay pillín, pillín. En cuanto a la fotografía de glamour o erótica, Scott es todo un experto y ningún portfolio de un fotógrafo inglés con sangre en las venas estaría completo sin chicas. Ganador de la competición “Ultra Vixen” de la revista BIZARRE y con muchos trabajos publicados en algunas de las principales revistas para chicos del Reino Unido, se acerca a sus modelos de un modo relajado, divertido y amistoso, consiguiendo que éstas se desnuden con confianza ante su cámara.

international photographers We are really happy to have found 2 stars in one go, because our cover girl of the month also works as a model for one of the best photographers in the UK: Scott Cole, a funny and very nice guy from Birmingham who happily lives his life and makes amazing shoots like someone sells hot cakes. His photography is simply perfect, no matter what he portrayes. You’ll always want to see more. His interest in photography dates back to 1994 when a chance photo sent to a local newspaper led to international accreditation as a Motorsports Photographer, numerous magazine cover shots and the title of “Formula 1 Grand Prix Moods Winner” beating off over 9000 photographic entrants. But his visual appetite goes further: Many nights have been spent on tour with bands travelling the UK and Scott’s photos have continued to impress both musicians and fans alike not least with his spot on timing, capturing the on stage action. For those who know a bit about this type of photography, this is not an easy thing to do. Scott’s ability to blend in to his surroundings enables him to capture those special moments back stage and knowing when to put his camera down to join in the party has made him both a popular and trustworthy photographer who is invited back year after year. (What goes on tour, stays on tour!!) His promotional and live photos have appeared in magazines, on posters, CD’s, DVD’s and calendars around the world, from the USA and Europe to Australia. Of course no red-blooded English photographers portfolio would be complete without a splash of the female form and Scott is no exception. Winner of BIZARRE Magazine’s “Ultra Vixen” competition and photos in the UK’s leading lads mags, along with a relaxed, fun and friendly approach to his shoots has meant a steady supply of models willing to strip off for his camera.

With the current Burlesque/PinUp wave razing like a brutal Tsunami around the entire world, Scott shoots now for several PinUps and burlesque artists and among them, Missy Malone, our cover girl this month and internationally acclaimed pinup/performer. And because of his interest in all things motoring we now see him shooting within the local Hot-Rod/Dragster scene. Finally, he is able to combine all of his favourite photographic themes, fast cars and beautiful women with some great music thrown in during the shoot… What’s next? We ask… ”You bring me a beach, sunshine and some naked girls, and I’ll bring the camera. What are we waiting for?” Hehe you cunning devil...It won’t be that you’re looking forward to come over to Lanzarote?

Sta. Susana, Bacelona Este mes rendimos tributo a una sala donde Nightthings Productions trabajó durante 5 años consecutivos, en eventos memorables, como memorable ha sido la trayectoria de DJ Edgar, alma de esta sala mítica e inolvidable para quienes venían desde cada rincón de Cataluña para pegarse el fiestón padre y disfrutar de los increíbles sets de un DJ admirado y querido por todo clubber que pisara su pista alguna vez. De él os hablamos pronto en “DJ Corner”. Así que Edgar se casó y queriendo un descanso más que merecido tras más de 15 años al mando de la nave, el templo quedó sin Dios y los fieles dejaron de creer. Pero Facebook es milagroso. Los nostálgicos de esa época dorada del Progressive y el Trance se han reunido en masa y su icono ha vuelto a casa listo para la traca final. Y aunque el sueño se prolongará sólo hasta Agosto del 2010, cuando Dsigual cerrará sus puertas para siempre, los que tuvimos el placer de trabajar y fiestear ahí, nos sentimos conmovidos imaginando las colas interminables que de nuevo hay frente a un lugar que para nosotros jamás morirá porque lo llevamos en lo más profundo de nuestro corazón. Damos las gracias personalmente a Miguel, su propietario. Tuvimos la suerte de codearnos con él. “Tio, eres lo más”.

It moves us to write this article, a small tribute to a venue where our label (nightthingsproductions.com) worked for 5 consecutive years realizing performances at different unforgettable events. As unforgettable was the career of DJ Edgar, absolute soul of this milestone club, a myth where clubbers from all over Catalonia used to go to have the big party and enjoy the sets of this admired and beloved DJ. Shortly we will tell you more about him on “DJ Corner”. But when he got married and left the job, the club experienced a big change and many people stopped going there. Their God wasn’t commanding the spaceship anymore so there was no point in going there again...But Internet is miraculous and with phenomenons like Facebook many nostalgics of that era are reunited now making that his icon is back to the place that was like his own home, a real temple of Progressive & Trance music. For this reason we feel excited for this rebirth (and just until next August when Dsigual will forever close its doors). Edgar is yet again causing endless cues in front of the door of this historic club in which we had the pleasure to work, a place that will never die because it’s simply engraved with fire in our heart. We wanna say thank you personally to Miguel, owner of this club, a great guy like just many few you can find. We were lucky to rub our shoulders with him. “Thanx mate, you’re the best.” Parte del equipo de Nightthings con Miguel, propietario de Dsigual en su 12 Aniversario. El portero de una discoteca o club puede juzgar el modo de vestir y denegar la entrada a aquellos que no vayan acorde con unas reglas establecidas. Dependiendo del local algun tipo de ropa o apariencia no están permitidas pero muchas de esas condiciones cambian según dicta la moda que muchas veces determina si el tipo de vestimenta encaja o no con el concepto del lugar en cuestión. Un buen ejemplo son las “bambas” (calzado deportivo), durante muchos años y específicamente aquí en España (aún hoy), vistas como algo que no casa con la imagen de ciertos locales. Aunque no ocurre lo mismo en la mayoría de ciudades europeas. Afortunadamente y con la propagación de la cultura de club (que ha sido creada básicamente para que bailes y te expreses a través del lenguaje del baile!) resulta bastante absurdo negar la entrada a aquellos que van correcta y limpiamente vestidos pero calzando exactamente los zapatos que le resultan más cómodos para lo que precisamente han sido diseñados. Otra historia es si quieres mantener cierto estilo en tu zona VIP o tu club ha sido concebido estrictamente para ciertas tribus urbanas...
A bouncer of a disco or nightclub may judge visitors’ clothing and refuse entrance to those not clad according to specified or established requirements. Depending on the venue some kind of clothes or appearance are not allowed but many of these conditions change because of the fashion which many times determines if some clothes fit or not with the concept of the place. A good example are the sneakers, many years and specially here (still today) in Spain, seen as something not suitable with the image of some venues. It does’nt happen the same in most of the European cities tho. Fortunately and with the spreading of the club culture (which is basically created to dance and express yourself through the language of dancing!), it’s kinda absurd to deny the entrance to those who are well dressed and clean for just wearing comfy shoes for dancing which is what they are made for. Another story is if you want to keep a concret style in the VIP zone or your club is thought for a certain kind of urban tribes...

Cuando con 10 años ya te gusta Mozart, está claro que tu sensibilidad musical es especial. Y si a los 14 coleccionas como loco cintas de cassette con sets de DJS de todo el mundo, es que muy pronto vas a dar el paso de convertirte en uno tan bueno o mejor que ellos. Esta es la historia de DJ 5fad (durante años conocido en la escena barcelonesa como DJ TROY), que siendo aún un niño acudía a las discotecas con el sueño de ocupar las cabinas algun día y superar con creces lo que para él eran sesiones aburridas y desapasionadas. Así que con 16 compra su primer equipo y almacena vinilos bajo su cama. Pronto conocerá al light-jockey de la mítica sala SCORPIA, (Igualada, BCN). Ahí comienza realmente su andadura como DJ, al codearse en la tienda PTT Records (BCN) con nombres reconocidos de la escena barcelonesa. Corren los 90 con la “movida makinera” en pleno auge. Es el gran momento de salas como OCHO, PONT AERI, NAUB-3, SPOOK, ACTV...Lugares en donde más tarde dejaría una contundente huella de mezclas abrumadoras. En el 92 conoce a DJ BUBBA, padrino y consejero. Pronto será dj oficial de PTT Records y atenderá fascinado a los sets de Frank Trax (Scorpia), ricos en sonido Trance y Progressive de importación. Aún aprendiz, recibe una oferta de su ídolo de compartir cabina con él, que se prolongaría 6 años y le llevaría a conocer a gente como DJ Misha, Commander Tom, Marco Bailey, Charly Lewnoise...Uno de los mejores momentos llega al representar a SCORPIA en una gira nacional. Su nombre se verá en incontables flyers junto a grandes djs/productores. En el 99 se convierte en profesor de futuros djs junto a DJ Brujo (Naub-3) en la academia DMC de la tienda DON DISCO (Molins de Rei, BCN) e incluso realizan un disco conjuntamente. Su carrera sufre un parón en el 2001, al morir DJ Brujo aunque más tarde la reanuda en los dos clubs SECRET GARDEN de Ibiza y Mallorca.
When at 10 you already like Mozart it’s obvious that your sensibility for the music is special. This is the story of DJ 5fad (also known on the Barcelonian scene as DJ TROY), who even as a child used to go to the clubs dreaming about the day when he would improve what to him sounded boring and dispassionate. So at 16 he bought the equipment and started storing vinyls under his bed. Shortly after he met the light-jockey of SCORPIA (Igualada, BCN). And then is really where his DJ career started, at PTT Records shop, rubbing shoulders with renowned names of the scene in Barcelona. It was the 90’s and the time for “maquina” music (kind of Techno). It’s the era of great venues such as OCHO,PONT AERI,NAUB-3, FLORIDA 135, ACTV...Places where he later would leave a conclusive trace of stunning mixes. In 92 he met DJ BUBBA, his godfather and mentor. Soon after he became the official DJ for PTT Records and starts attending the sets of Frank Trax (Scorpia), rich in Trance and Progressive imported sounds, Still a trainee he is offered by his idol to share the turntables with him. Their relationship will last 6 years and will make him meet ppl like DJ Misha, Commander Tom, Marco Bailey, Charly Lewnoise...He will get to represent SCORPIA in a national tour and his name will be read on uncountable flyers together with great DJS/ producers. In 1999 he is working as a teacher for upcoming DJS next to DJ Brujo (Naub-3) at the DMC academy (Don Disco shop in Molins de Rei, BCN) and they even produced a record together. His career came to a short stop in 2001 when DJ Brujo dies although it restared again at the 2 clubs SECRET GARDEN in Ibiza and Mallorca. After this he worked for some time playing Pop and commercial stuff but later he came back to his roots: The TRANCE Music. Fan of Armin Van Buuren, Tiesto or Mauro Picotto, he has 2000 vinyls and 3000 CD’s. After his marriage the passion has knocked on his door again. Now he is the official DJ for DISTORSION Records (BCN) and is preparing a website, a record and a radio show. Now we just hope to bring him over to the island one day. His mixes will leave you breathless.
Tras esto trabaja una temporada pinchando Pop del más comercial pero más pronto que tarde recupera las que siempre fueron sus raíces: El TRANCE. Tattooed People MARIO PÉREZ de Sevilla, que vive en la isla desde hace 10 años y reside actualmente en Playa Blanca, quien ocupa nuestra sección de gente tatuada, y ha decidido poner su espalda en manos del genial tatuador Jacky. Y éste es el primer tatuaje de su vida! Como podéis juzgar por las fotos, el trabajo llevó varios días, mucha destreza por parte del artista y por supuesto mucha paciencia por parte de Mario... “Desde que era muy jovencito quería un tatuaje así. Un dragon significa fortaleza y estoy muy orgulloso de llevarlo en mi espalda!”
JACKY KONTNY, nacido en 1964 cerca de Würzburg en Alemania, comenzó su carrera como tatuador en 1980 en “TOM’s STUDIO” de Nueva York (USA). Pasó también dos años trabajando en Osaka (Japón), donde estudió “Body Art” y tatuaje tradicional, convirtiéndose en todo un experto en motivos y técnicas asiáticas. En 1982 participó en su primera convención de tatuaje internacional en el legendario crucero de lujo H.M.S. QUEEN MARY!!! Con casi 30 años de experiencia como tatuador y “piercer” profesional, pero también como monitor e instructor, llegó a convertirse en una leyenda, siendo reconocido como uno de los artistas tatuadores más respetados de Europa. Desde hace tres años reside en Lanzarote, donde dirige junto a su mujer Claudia, el fantástico, ultramoderno y super-equipado estudio “TATTOO INN”, situado en la avenida de Playa Blanca. Curiosamente Amazon ha retirado este libro de su web (todavía quedan algunas copias), tras una declaración oficial el pasado Julio por parte de su representante Drew Herdener en la que declaraba que “el editor había perdido los derechos para seguir distribuyéndolo. George Orwell hit the nail on the head with the novel full of biting criticism against a very plausible totalitarian government that would reach the big screen and leave a message to future generations not so far away from a world that is completely different from what they dreamt of. Surprisingly, Amazon has removed this book from its website (still some copies left), after a statement of their spokeman Drew Herdener who declared last July that “they had no longer the rights to publish and sell the work”. Two other books have suffered the same censorshit: “The last temptation of Christ” (Nikos Kazantzakis) and “Atlas Shrugged” (Ayn Rand). Now, judge for yourselves.

Donde el sexo estuviese prohibido puesto que los placeres y especialmente el del orgasmo, cuya química es capaz de desconectarte del mundo completamente (ni que decir del sistema al que estamos encadenados), están penalizados incluso con la muerte, donde fueses continuamente vigilado y donde lo único importante fuese trabajar como un auténtico esclavo (bajo condiciones inhumanas y una gran presión psicológica) para aquéllos que dominan y tienen el mundo a su merced...¿Suena horrible, verdad? Pues esta fue la visión no tan desencaminada que tuvo el novelista George Orwell sobre un futuro no muy lejano. Polémico y por encima de todo críticamente político, su obra no ha dejado títere con cabeza, pero no fue hasta poco después de la muerte del autor (1980), que su esposa consintió en que esta oscura y a la vez profundamente humana novela fuese llevada al cine. El rodaje, que tuvo lugar en los alrededores de Londres, con algunas localizaciones exactas descritas en la propia novela, duraría tres meses. El personaje principal (Winston Smith) fue interpretado brillantemente por John Hurt y el malvado O’Brien fue encarnado por Richard Burton que moriría poco antes del estreno en Inglaterra y a quien se dedicaría el film. La protagonista femenina que interpreta a la enigmática Julia, amante secreta de Winston, fue Suzanna Hamilton.

Imagine a world where absolute totalitarism reigns, where you don’t have any say in the matter and where you’re nothing else than a serial number. Where sex is strictly forbidden because the pleasures and especially the orgasm, which chemistry is able to completely disconnect you from the world (and of course from the system we’re permanently tied to) are penalized sometimes with death, where you’d be continuously watched and where the only important thing is that you work as a slave for those who rule and have the world at their mercy...Sounds horrible, right? This was the not-so-far-away vision of a near future the novelist George Orwell had. Transgressor and above all politically critical, his work doesn’t spare anybody, but it wasn’t until a short time after the author’s death that his wife would allow a version for the cinema to be filmed. The shooting that took place in the surroundings of London, with some of the locations that were exactly described in the novel, lasted for 3 months. The main character was brilliantly played by John Hurt and the evil O’Brien was embodied by Richard Burton who would die a short time before the UK premiere and who the film would be dedicated to. The female protagonist who plays the enigmatic Julia, secret lover of Winston, was Suzanna Hamilton.

Su tarea consiste en borrar a cualquiera que haya violado las normas de los historiales del gobierno totalitario INGSOC (English Socialism). Como un autómata, acarrea con su rutina diaria bajo constante vigilancia de dos pantallas (2 monitores de TV) y de sus propios compañeros. Un día conoce a Julia con la que pronto vivirá un romance. Smith empieza entonces a tener ideas pero desafortunadamente, ambas cosas, el romance y la libertad de pensamiento, están prohibidas así que la pareja será capturada por las fuerzas de seguridad del Ministerio del Amor. O’Brien, alto mandatario del Partido Interior (INNER), dará una lección a Smith, diciéndole que el Estado (caracterizado por el omnipresente slogan “Gran Hermano te vigila”, las pantallas de TV y los helicópteros negros) no puede ser derrotado y que cualquier resistencia resulta futil. Es capturado entonces y severamente torturado incluso con hambruna, antes de encerrarle en la habitación 101 donde los prisioneros son expuestos a sus miedos más profundos. Antes de su ejecución por traición, tendrá como última imagen su propia forzada confesión mientras que Julia, sin emoción alguna admite estar en su contra también.
Sinopsis
1984: In a dystopian England, Winston Smith is just a Party official in the Ministry of Propaganda. His task is to “erase” anyone who has violated the rules of the totalitarian government (INGSOC: English Socialism). Robot-like, he goes through his daily routine, under constant surveillance from the “telescreens” (two-way TV monitors) and his fellow citizens. One day he meets Julia who will soon have an affair with him. Smith then starts having ideas but unfortunately both the love affair and the free thinking are strictly forbidden, so the couple is picked up by the Security forces of the Ministry of Love. Winston is given a lesson by O’Brien, a high-ranking member of the Inner Party, who tells him that the State (characterized by the slogan “Big Brother is Watching You”, the ever-present Telescreens, and black helicopters) cannot be defeated and resistance is futile. He is then taken and severely beaten and starved, and later on locked in the room 101 where prisoners are exposed to their deepest fears. Before his execution for treason, the last thing he sees is his own forced confession as an emotionless Julia admits she turned on him as well.

GUNS & Roses se formó en 1985 (L.A.) con mucha controversia y cambios constantes en su formación hasta hoy. Han vendido unos 120 millones de discos en todo el mundo, siendo el disco que supuso su debut “Apettite for Destruction” (Geffen Records, 1987), un éxito abrumador que vendió la friolera de 28 millones de copias y alcanzó el primer puesto en la lista Billboard 200 de USA. Aún hoy los temas de “Welcome to the Jungle” y “Sweet Child O’Mine” (poema dedicado de Axl Rose a su futura esposa) siguen cautivando como el primer día. Momentos históricos:
Tras el primer éxito graban “G N’ R Lies” que recibió duras críticas por usar las palabras “niggers” y “faggots” (negros, maricas) en su tema “One in a Million”. El cantante Axl Rose fue acusado de homófobo y racista aunque él se defendió diciendo que la canción no pretendía ser otra cosa que una crítica de la realidad en su país. Como sucede con casi toda banda de Rock, tuvieron sus más y sus menos con las drogas, sobre todo el batería Steven Adler que por su fuerte adicción a la cocaína y la heroína fue despedido y reemplazado por el que fuera batería de CULT, Matt Sorum. Con “Use Your Illusion” Vol. I y II, alcanzan la fama absoluta. Tras ese doble álbum inician la gira con el mismo nombre más larga de la historia del Rock (28 meses). Más tarde sacaron el disco “The Spaghetti Incident?” con covers de éxitos Punk y Glam Rock pero no obtuvo demasiado éxito y aunque tendrían algún éxito puntual, la decadencia no tardaría en llamar a su puerta. Poco a poco los miembros irían dejando la banda, incluido el guitarrista Slash, que junto a Axl Rose era la fuerza y carisma del grupo. A pesar de todo y de que desde que grabaron el álbum “Chinese Democracy” (1994-2007) no hayan lanzado nada más, es posible que pronto oigamos algo nuevo de ellos en la radio dado que la banda vuelve, eso sí, con nuevos miembros. De los originales “Guns” sólo nos queda un Axl Rose que empieza a abusar del lifting un pelín demasiado...Pero eso ya es harina de otro costal.

rock heroes After the first success, “G N’ R Lies” ,was recorded they received hard criticismfor using words like “niggers” and “faggots” in their song “One in a Million”. The singer Axl Rose was accused of being homophobic and racist although he defended himself saying that the song just tried to reflect criticism of the reality of his country. As with most Rock bands, they had heavy problems with drugs, specially the drummer Steven Adler who suffered an strong cocaine and heroine addiction and who was fired and substituted by the drummer of CULT, Matt Sorum. With “Use Your Illusion” I & II they reached the absolute fame and glory. After this double album the iniciated a tour with the same name which were to be the longest in the history of Rock music (28 months). Later on they released “The Spaghetti Incident?” with covers of Punk and Glam Rock but it didn’t match the previous success and although they occasionally had some good moments after that, the decadence was already knocking at their door. Bit by bit the members would abandon the band, including the guitarrist Slash, who together with Axl Rose was the strenght and charisma of the group. Despite of everything and although they haven’t released anything since they recorded “Chinese Democracy” (1994-2007) , it is possible that we soon will be hearing something new by “Guns N’ Roses” because the band is back with new members. From the original formation just Alx Rose is left. Someone who’s abusing the lifting a bit too much...But that’s another story. Diego Rosende es el Presidente de la Asociación Juvenil Deportiva “Ser Urbano” que se fundó en Lanzarote en el 2008. Un puñado de jóvenes inquietos motivados por la necesidad de manifestar sus cualidades artísticas y deportivas daban así a nuestra isla una alternativa creativa, activa y lúdica sin desperdicio que acercan a sus conciudadanos a una serie de interesantes propuestas realizadas en la calle. El “Grafitti”, deportes como el skate, el BMX, el Roller, la música Hip Hop o los DJS son algunos de sus intereses principales por los que luchan y defienden la idea de disponer de espacios apropiados para la práctica de dichas actividades por parte de la juventud lanzaroteña. “Ser Urbano” ya cuenta con una amplia experiencia en organización de eventos relacionados con la cultura urbana en la isla como han sido: “Surfin Rock Festival” (Haría, 2008), “Break Park” (Tías, 2008), “Semana Urbana” (Arrecife 2008) y más recientemente en el “Urban Fest” (Arrecife 2009). Y ahora trabajan duro también para traer a la isla por vez primera el “Circuito Canario de Skate” que tendrá lugar en el Parque Temático del Reducto (Arrecife) el 24 de Octubre. No os lo perdáis!

Diego Rosende is the President of the Young Sportive Association “Ser Urbano” (Urban Being) that was founded on Lanzarote in 2008. A few young enterprising guys motivated by their need to express their artistic and sportive qualities are giving the island a really valuable creative, active and ludic alternative with the intention to approach their fellow citizens with a series of interesting proposals which always will be realised on the street. “Grafitti”, Skate, BMX, Roller, Hip Hop music or DJS are some of the main interests they fight for, defending the idea of giving to the young people of Lanzarote the possibility to make use of proper and special areas just dedicated to the practice of such activities. “Ser Urbano” (Urban Being) already has a huge experience in organizing events related to the urban culture on our island. Some examples are “Surfin Rock Festival” (Haría, 2008), “Break Park” (Tías, 2008), “Semana Urbana” (Arrecife 2008) and recently the “Urban Fest” (Arrecife 2009). And now they’re working hard to bring over for the first time the “Canarian Skate’s Circuit” which will take place in Arrecife (Parque Temático del Reducto (, on October the 24th. Don’t miss it!
