The Mount is committed to helping you afford higher education and achieve your higher purpose with a range of grants, scholarships, and awards. Learn more at www.msj.edu/financial-aid.
We work closely with families of every income level and economic circumstance to find financial solutions--specifically, to find, apply for, and procure scholarships, grants, loans, and other aid that can greatly reduce costs. Our work pays off, too. In 2022, 99 percent of traditional, full-time undergraduates at the Mount received scholarships and grants totaling over $22 million. APPLYING FOR NEED-BASED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA®), uses income information from the previous year.
STEP-BY-STEP APPLICATION PROCESS
1: Complete the admission application.
2: Visit www.msj.edu/financial-aid for online tools to help determine the approximate cost of an education at the Mount and for finding MSJ Scholarships.
3: Go to www.studentaid.gov and establish a FSA ID. This ID will give you access to start the FAFSA, gather your income information, and manage your progress.
4: Complete and submit the FAFSA for the maximum amount of assistance. The FAFSA factors in income, assets, family size, and number of children in college when determining the expected family contribution figure. The Mount's federal code is 003033.
After your FAFSA has been processed, you’ll receive a Student Aid Report (SAR), and the Mount will then develop an individualized financial aid package for you.
ADDITIONAL NOTES
• Fill out all forms carefully and keep copies. You may be asked to submit additional documentation to verify information on the FAFSA.
• Reapply every year. Financial aid is not automatically renewed. Each year you must file a FAFSA or Renewal FAFSA to be considered for need based financial aid. Check renewal requirements on all scholarships.
• If you or your family’s financial circumstances change after our initial evaluation or after you submit your FAFSA, contact our office regarding possible adjustments.
To access the FAFSA and establish your FSA ID, scan the QR code or visit www.studentaid.gov
A WORTHWHILE INVESTMENT
And with our generous financial aid program, there’s a good chance we can cover some of the costs of your studies. A college education is one of the best investments you can make, and the Mount wants to help you understand how to make your education as cost-effective as possible. An MSJ education is a powerful return on investment—98.5% of 2022 MSJ graduates were successfully employed, enrolled in graduate studies, or volunteering within six months of graduation.
VALUE OF A LIBERAL ARTS EDUCATION
According to the Council of Independent Colleges, graduates of independent colleges and universities complete their bachelor’s degrees much sooner than their peers at other types of institutions—almost a year earlier than at public institutions, and four years earlier than at for-profit institutions—which means fewer years of paying tuition and a quicker start at earning a salary.
