he ace in the region’s tennis calendar — the Mubadala World Tennis Championship – makes a smashing comeback this year. After skipping the pandemic year to ensure the safety of players and fans, the starstudded tournament will be back for 2021 from December 16 to 18 serving the UAE’s tennis fans with a rallying slice of oncourt action. Six of the world’s top male tennis talents, and two of the strongest female players will fly in to contest the crowns, although names are
not confirmed yet. In 2019 Maria Sharapova toppled Ajla Tomljanovic for yet another trophy in an already prolific career; whilst Rafael Nadal overcame Novak Djokovic in a thrilling final, to claim more silverware for his own glittering cabinet. The UAE’s first homegrown obstacle course returns to Al Marjan Island for its 10th installment on November 19. Promising to be bigger than ever, expect over 20 obstacles to overcome across the 10km course, including the ‘Quarter Pipe’, the tallest pipe obstacle in the region. The event features the Fearless Warrior course with 12+ obstacles plotted along 5km, the Ultimate Warrior Course with 20+ obstacles along a 10km, and a 1km and 2km Junior Warrior course for kids six and above.
