COVID-19 Protocols
As the first spectator attended event since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in Abu Dhabi, invited guests to the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship were able to enjoy hospitality during the tournament, with 3,050 spectators watching the world’s best golfers at Abu Dhabi Golf Club from Thursday to Sunday.
All invited guests returned a negative PCR test prior to attending the tournament and were subject to the guidelines in place from the Abu Dhabi Health Authorities, which include social distancing, the wearing of a face mask in all indoor and outdoor areas, as well as practicing hand sanitisation.
During the tournament there were 2,640 on-site COVID-19 tests delivered by Mediclinic, which continued to ensure the safety of all golfers, caddies, support staff and invited guests.
In the UAE, the European Tour works alongside Mediclinic – a diversified international private healthcare services group that have partnered the Tour for many years – to deliver the comprehensive health strategy in place at all professional golf tournaments staged by the European Tour.
The return of fans was also made possible through the support of the Ministry of Health and the National Emergency Crisis and Disasters Management Authority NCEMA.
