This particular feeding scheme, organised by NPO Philisaa Abafazi Bethu and run by Lavender Hill Football Club director Mark Nicholson, provides the only meal many children receive in a day, following the closure of school feeding schemes under the national lockdown. Communities and non-profit organisations across the city, many of them organised under the Community Action Network, have come together to provide food for children and families facing starvation under lockdown regulations.
