MYTD All Hail PLAYBILL

Page 1

WELCOME! As you settle into your seats for our production of All Hail!, I find myself overwhelmed with gratitude. Gratitude for you—our audience—who chose to be here. Gratitude for the extraordinary young artists who have poured their hearts into reimagining Shakespeare’s timeless examination of power, loyalty, and civic responsibility. Gratitude for the transformative power of theater itself.

In this contemporary retelling of Julius Caesar, we witness ancient questions echoing through modern corridors of power. What makes a leader worthy of following? When does ambition become dangerous? How do we balance personal loyalty with collective good? These questions have no simple answers, but in exploring them together—performers and audience alike—we create a space for reflection, dialogue, and deeper understanding.

Theater has long been humanity’s way of making meaning together. In a world increasingly fragmented by screens and algorithms that isolate us within our own perspectives, live performance offers something revolutionary: the chance to breathe the same air, share the same moment, and collectively imagine new possibilities. When we gather like this— different ages, backgrounds, and viewpoints all focused on the same story—we practice the art of empathy and community that our world so desperately needs.

I am particularly moved by the courage of these young artists. They have approached Shakespeare’s complex text not as dusty literature to be revered from a distance, but as a living, breathing vehicle for urgent contemporary questions. They have brought their full selves—their questions, their vulnerabilities, their fierce intelligence—to this process. In their hands, ancient characters speak directly to our moment, challenging us to examine our own relationship to power, truth, and justice.

To you, our audience: thank you for the sacred gift of your presence and attention. In choosing to be here, you affirm that sharing our stories matters. You validate the bold dreaming of these young artists. You participate in the ancient, necessary ritual of coming together to witness human truths enacted before us. By suspending disbelief for ninety minutes, you help create a space where transformation becomes possible— not just on stage, but within each of us and throughout our communities.

The lights will soon dim, and together we’ll embark on a journey through conspiracy, idealism, betrayal, and consequence. My hope is that you leave not just entertained but somehow changed—more alive to the complexities of our shared humanity, more aware of both the fragility and the resilience of community.

At Mosaic, we believe that art can do more than reflect the world—it helps create it. Thank you for joining us in this act of collective imagination.

With gratitude,

DELASHEA STRAWDER
