It is a pleasure to welcome you to Royal Hawaiian Center, the uniquely Hawaiian hub for shopping, dining and entertainment in the heart of Waikīkī. What sets Royal Hawaiian Center apart from others is our heritage and history that permeates through 310,000 sq. ft. of retail space, The Royal Grove and a fantastic variety of world-class tenants along three prominent blocks on Kalākaua Ave. Spend time in The Royal Grove and our brandnew Helumoa Hale Guest Services & Heritage Room to absorb the beauty and depth of our culture. Helumoa is the name of this section of Waikīkī, once home to the ali‘i nui or rulers of O‘ahu. Our Hawaiian landscape and scores of kumu niu (coconut trees) recall the ancient Helumoa grove that over more than four centuries had as many as 10,000 trees. To orient yourself with all that Royal Hawaiian Center has to offer, start at the ‘Ewa end (pronounced “eh-va”) in Building A. Royal Hawaiian Golf, P. F. Chang’s and Island Slipper are among Building A’s offerings. Three of our complimentary classes are also held here: lei making, lomilomi massage and Hawaiian quilting. Visit royalhawaiiancenter.com or see page 10 for a full schedule of cultural classes and performances. Heading towards Lē‘ahi (Diamond Head), you’ll cross Royal Hawaiian Avenue and arrive at Building B, home to Legends in Concert, the Pā‘ina Lānai Food Court, Doraku Sushi, Restaurant Suntory, and much more. The Royal Grove (between Buildings B and C) is truly the piko or cultural core of our center, with an elegant bronze statue of Kamehameha Schools founder Ke Ali‘i Pauahi, story plaques, Hawaiian flora and our new stage at the banyan tree’s base, home to Royal Hawaiian Center’s award-winning performing arts program.
