Welcome to the Morris Educational Foundation’s (MEF) Morristown ONSTAGE event! Thank you for joining us tonight to celebrate and enjoy the talent in our Morristown community. This is the largest fundraising event for the MEF and we appreciate the support of our sponsors, advertisers, donors, and all of you in the audience tonight. A special thank you to Atlantic Health’s Morristown Medical Center, the Headline Sponsor of Morristown ONSTAGE for the 17th year!
The MEF and its generous donors have invested $5.8 million dollars since its inception in 1992 - view our incredible impact just this past year on the following page. In partnership with our district’s teachers and staff and with our community’s support, we are able to Imagine the Possibilities for the Morris School District’s … 5,700 students, 1,000 educators and 10 schools!
*Imagine the Grants Opportunities across our students’ educational journey from preschool to high school in the areas of Arts Education, Literacy, STEM, Athletics, and Social & Emotional learning.
*Imagine the Scholarships Program of over 30 scholarships awarded to MHS students each year, with life-changing opportunities to support their academic pursuits.
*Imagine the Community Engagement
Colonial Nation, the MEF’s alumni platform, reaches over 14,655 Morris School District alumni and community members to connect and support today’s students.
Let’s Imagine the Possibilities with a Challenge to Raise Funds for Arts in our Schools!
One of the most memorable parts of last year’s show was when we asked our audience to support our work providing arts programming in the schools, and the community responded! Because of the success last year, we are again asking our audience to join us in making an investment to help support the wonderful Arts grants we fund for our schools. The first page of the playbill includes instructions on how to donate, and we’ll share more details throughout the night. Our goal is to raise at least $10,000 right here in the theater tonight!
We hope you have an unforgettable experience tonight. Good luck to all the talented finalists. Enjoy the show!
With Gratitude,

This duo, known to family and friends as Marckenny Pierre-Louis and Ryan Kaplan, began making music together many years ago, having released their first hits back in 2016 and 2017. After a lengthy hiatus, a wave of inspiration sparked their renaissance, and reignited the creative energy for these two Morristown residents. They call this return a “reaffirmation of their shared passion for creating music that resonates with the heart and soul.” When they’re not making music, Marckenney works as a fitness coach and nutritionist, and Ryan is an account manager. Tonight’s four-minute performance promises an exhilarating and dynamic set, where Xan and Rez Hits aim to transport the audience into the heart of their musical narrative.
Molly is graduating this year from West Morris Mendham High School and works here in town at Kid and Caboodle. Her musical journey began many years ago and she now participates in her school’s spring musical, choir and a capella group. When she’s not on stage, Molly is running for the track team and playing tennis. Molly will be accompanied tonight by her longtime voice coach Jini Ettigi, who helped her prepare for this competition. She was inspired by Lady Gaga’s song “I’ll Never Love Again” from the movie A Star is Born, and will perform her own version of that piece tonight.
This mother/daughter duo has been harmonizing together since Ana was a baby. They’ve been Morristown residents for the last eleven years–Laura, a real estate broker, and Ana, a 6th grader at Frelinghuysen Middle School. Fun fact: they even share the same birthday! They are parishioners at Assumption and enjoy singing spiritual songs. Their musical inspirations are Whitney Houston, Jennifer Hudson, Tori Kelly and Ariana Grande. Tonight, they will perform “Hallelujah” as a duet and are thrilled to be singing in front of their hometown crowd.
This Morristown High sophomore has his sights set on becoming a trauma surgeon one day to, in his own words, “help people through what may be the worst days of their lives.” He moved to Morristown three years ago and credits his hardworking Mom for being by his side throughout his own medical challenges, while instilling in him a love for music. Max began singing at a very young age, and began performing on stage at the age of five. Tonight, he will perform a 1960’s classic: “You’ve Made Me So Very Happy” by Blood, Sweat and Tears. He also thanks his freshman year band teacher, Michael LeRose, for his support.
This ten-year-old Sussex Avenue School student began making music at the age of five, and today, there isn’t a Broadway song she doesn’t love! Evelyn loves a tune she can belt out and says she was first inspired by Mandy Gonzalez, who originated the role of Nina in InThe Heights. When Evelyn isn’t exercising her vocal cords, she is taking theatre classes here at MPAC, cheering on the sidelines for the Morristown Wildcats, playing softball and playing clarinet in the school band. She also gives her time as a choir singer for Assumption Parish and loves reading about space exploration. Tonight, Evelyn is singing “Everything’s Coming up Roses” from the Broadway show Gypsy.
These Morristown-raised sisters not only perform together, they are also classmates at Frelinghuysen Middle School. Tara is an 8th grader who plays piano and clarinet, among other instruments. Her little sister, Brianna, is a 6th grader and calls the stage her ‘happy place’. These young women have been performing together since they were toddlers and say nothing brings them more joy than music! Tonight, they will be performing “Faded” by Alan Walker, but with a twist: Tara re-created the arrangement to sound more like a Broadway show tune. They credit their parents for supporting and encouraging their musical journey.
Many in this audience will recognize Jermaine. He is not only a product of the Morris School District, he’s been employed here for the past twenty years as well! Jermaine is a full-time ABA at Sussex Avenue School and says he remembers the names and faces of every student and family because they are part of his life story. Jermaine has loved to sing for as long as he can remember, thanks to his family. He believes singing is joy as well as therapy. The inspiration for his act came out of loss, and he decided to channel his feelings into song. Tonight, he will perform Adele’s “Easy on Me” for all the friends, and coworkers who never got a chance to live out their dreams or realize their lives to the fullest.
The Foster Children Band is made up of high school friends Darren Source, Anthony Bravo, Darren Alex King and its founder, Joe Foster who works as a mechanical engineer in Morristown. They have a shared love of classic rock and have been performing as a cover band for the past five years. They recall being a bit nervous and shy to play in front of people when they first got together, but deeply wanted to perform. Their inspiration is using their collective talents to bring people a feeling of happiness as well as nostalgia. Tonight the band will perform a cover of Maneskin’s “Beggin’”.
Taylor and Maggie have a long history: they’ve been friends since elementary school, bonded over their shared love for music, and are currently seniors at Morristown High getting ready to embark on their next chapters. They are part of the Treble Chorale at MHS and thought this would be the perfect opportunity to perform one last time together before they head off to college. Tonight, they are performing an emotional duet of This is Me from the film The Greatest Showman. They credit their fellow Treble Chorale members for being incredibly supportive and uplifting and hope their performance inspires and uplifts everyone to be their true selves.
Ari is a Warren, NJ native and a student at Morristown Beard School. He is no stranger to the stage, having played lead roles in Moana, Aladdin, High School Musical and School of Rock here at MPAC. Ari has been singing and playing guitar for half his young life and credits his music teachers and directors for their guidance over the years. Tonight, he is singing “For Forever” from his favorite show: Dear Evan Hansen. Ari thanks his family, friends and teachers for all their love and support.
This Yale-educated pharmacologist believes deeply in the power of music to heal and uplift. She began her musical journey while singing with the Brooklyn Community Chorus and its musical theatre cabaret. These days, she lives in Morris Plains and is a regulatory writer for Novartis. She ensures that the safety and efficacy of medicines are properly presented to national health agencies. She credits voice teacher Mary Candler for her support, as well as her mini, but big-hearted Australian Shepherd Rusty, for being her #1 fan. Tonight, Catherine will perform “Beau Soir”, or “Beautiful Evening”, by Claude Debussy.
Naomi was born and raised in Morristown and is currently a senior at Morris County School of Technology in the Academy of Law & Public Safety. Never one to shy away from the spotlight, Naomi enjoys public speaking and uses her skills on the speech and debate team, as well as mock trial and theatre. She enjoys making people laugh and first tried her hand at comedy at last year’s Pay it Forward event at MHS. She is inspired by other female comedians–especially Tina Fey and Michelle Wolf. Naomi credits her Mom as the biggest influence on her act and thanks her many teachers for helping foster her skills. Tonight, she will deliver a comedy set she wrote.
This young woman is a 6th grader at Frelinghuysen Middle and the youngest of nine children! Haniyah has loved the spotlight since the age of two and says the talent runs deep: her Dad is her pianist and both her parents are incredible singers. Haniyah is an active member of Morristown’s Calvary Baptist Church, where she sings in the youth choir, dances in the liturgical ministry and performs in the church plays. When she’s not performing, Haniyah spends time with her field hockey, swim and lacrosse teams, and is a member of the Unity Steppers Drill Team. Tonight, she’s channeling her favorite singer, Whitney Houston, as she performs “The Greatest Love of All”.
Jennifer began singing when she was old enough to speak, and often performed with an imaginary microphone for anyone willing to listen! She resides in Bernardsville, but has been employed by Atlantic Health here in Morristown for many years. She enjoys all musical genres, studied classical piano, and was lead vocalist for her college band. Her father first introduced her to the music of Ray Charles and she’s been hooked ever since! Jennifer’s musical influences include Ella Fitzgerald, Dolly Parton, Alanis Morrisette and Aretha Franklin, among others. Tonight, she will perform Ray Charles’ “You Don’t Know Me”.
MHS Theatre is an award-winning, collaborative program. Over 120 students are involved in all aspects of each production through the cast, pit orchestra, set construction/design, visual arts, prop design, lighting & sound design, special effects, hair & makeup, costuming, graphic design, photography, videography, and more!
The student-led program offers a variety of opportunities for students to gain leadership experience in each of the areas listed above. Our student directing team, also known as PMT (Production Management Team), works hand-in-hand with our directors to ensure each production reaches its’ fullest potential. MHS Theatre is an active member of the International Thespian Society (Troupe 4647).
