We completed the summer with a trip to New Orleans, Louisiana for the 18th Annual HBCU Leadership Conference with the Morgan State University Royal Court. They learned a multitude or tools to effectively

takes Pensacola Our annual beach excursion was fantastic this year!

It was a day that won't be forgotten - a bright and sunny day complete with a barbecue and group games.

For over 10 years, Miss Morgan State University has participated in the EBONY HBCU Campus Queens competition. In 2019, Brittany Dorsey, Miss Morgan State University 2018-2019 worked tirelessly to get the votes from students, alumni and community supporters to be the first Miss Morgan State University to be named one of the top 10 HBCU Queens. Her determination and persistence paid off and she became the first Miss Morgan State University to grace the pages of the special HBCU Queens edition of the historical EBONY magazine. The Top 10 Queens received an all expense paid trip to Pensacola, Florida where they had an exclusive photo shoot and explored the sites of Pensacola, Florida while experiencing a once in a lifetime opportunity to network with some of the top professionals in the entertainment industry.

"With time you realize a dream without action is just a thought. Success isn’t always wrapped in what you do to benefit yourself, but things that you do that will benefit others. It was an honor and privilege to have represented my institution on such a historic platform. I pray that my experience helps young women know that as long as they work hard towards the dreams and visions they have for themselves, destiny will always be waiting for them," says Dorsey.

NASAP-SLI

National Association for Student Affairs Professions- Student Leadership Institute

For over 25 years, the Morgan State University Student Government Association has

attended the National Association for Student Affairs Professionals- Student Leadership Institute (NSAP-SLI). The institute has been a driving force in training, connecting and providing resources for Historically Black College and Universities (HBCU's) as well as other minority serving institutions.

The 2019 NASAP-SLI was hosted by Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia. The students were greeted with amazing hospitality and forged relationships with Student Government leaders from across the country.

About SLI: "The Student Leadership Institute (SLI) is an intensive, interactive, and stimulating learning program.It is a six day program designed for newly elected HBCU student leaders (Student Government Associations, Class Officers,Greek Councils, Student Ambassadors, Programming Boards) who are committed to uplifting their organizations and their university." KINGS &QUEENS

THE DIVINE REVOLUTION AND THE KINGS & QUEENS EXPERIENCE The Morgan State University Royal Court attends the Leadership for Queens and Kings Connection 18th Annual HBCU Leadership Conference in New Orleans, Louisiana. They received training and leadership development to assist them in their roles as campus kings and queens.

Our University has attended this the HBCU Leadership Conference for over 10 years and have forged life long relationships with other royal courts attending Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) from across the nation.

While attending the conference, attendees heard from an eclectic range of speakers including, Captain Deshauna Barber Miss USA 2016, Army Officer and Motivational Speaker (pictured) who spoke about the importance of being your authentic self and having resilience while serving as a campus king and queen.

The 2019-2020 Morgan State University Royal Court also known as the "Divine Revolution," experienced a transformation as a group and individually through intentional conversations and self-reflection.

They represented Morgan State University as the National Treasure with grace, class and sophistication.

MEET OSLD The Office of Student Life & Development

Mission The mission of the Office of Student Life and Development (OSLD) is to foster an environment of inclusiveness,

that

encompasses;

experiences, Special Events, Fraternity and Sorority Life, Weekend Life Experience, Excursions, and Training's.

OSLD aims to provide a learning environment that promotes academic excellence, leadership development, and personal growth in students. This includes, but not

limited to an appreciation of intellectual and ethical values.

Its primary goal is to assist individual students and student organizations in the creation, implementation, and evaluation of social, educational, cultural and recreational programs. In addition to fostering leadership development skills and promoting community activism, OSLD provides opportunities for social programming through the Campus Activities Board. Thus, collectively contributes to the holistic experience of each student at Morgan State University.

Education & Professional Development

Education is a vital part of the Office of Student Life & Development. Currently, every staff member is the office is enrolled in a Masters or Doctoral program.

Also, both Mrs. Williams and Mr. Molock were accepted into the inaugural class of the NASPA Ujima Institute that focuses on providing guidance and training for mid-level Student Affairs professionals to transition into senior level roles.
