Seagull Café Newsletter Welcome to More Music’s first Seagull Café Newsletter

Royal approval!

Hello from More Music! We hope this finds you well and in good spirits. We are able to provide this lovely newsletter thanks to new funding from The Duchy of Lancaster. This is a benevolent fund and registered charity set up with the consent of Her Majesty the Queen to benefit local community causes in the County Palatine. More Music was awarded funding to continue our Seagull Café sessions, which sadly Covid 19 has paused for now. We are so grateful for this support, which enables the production and delivery of newsletters to help keep us all connected.

If you need help or support we have included resources in this newsletter. Members of the team are phoning our Seagull Café regulars too.

Backyard Boogie anyone? Organised with our partners at Bay Medical Group and observing strict social distancing rules Pete and some of the More Music team have been visiting care homes across Morecambe, they have also made social distanced visits to a couple of back gardens, to deliver live music and sing-alongs to individuals who have thoroughly enjoyed his visits. Would you or someone you know welcome a visit? Please do get in touch on 01524 831997

If you are connected to the internet and would like to join in Bill and Sian’s singalong, watch a short film about Pete’s garden visit or watch the Seagull Café film please go to the More Music website at www.moremusic.org. uk

News & Resources News from the More Music Team

Although the annual West End celebration ‘That Spring Thing’ has been postponed, Kathryn has been working with Louise from Petalos Garden Design to deliver pots and sunflower seeds to some of More Music’s neighbours in Morecambe’s West End to nurture and grow over the coming weeks. Hopefully soon gardens will be ablaze with tall sunflowers, adding colour and joy to the area! Anna and Maxine have been making calls to the Seagull Café group, to say hello and to check how everyone is getting along. If you need help and support, do let them know, they have enjoyed catching up and hearing that gardens, sunshine and tasty baking are helping you through these difficult days. We have also included a list of resources that might be useful to you.

Malcolm, our house band harmonica player, has shared that he started playing his harmonica on his street for ‘Clapping for Carers’ on Thursday evenings and it has been wonderfully received by his neighbours. Keep that practice up Malcolm!

Good News!

More Music are over the moon to announce that we have been successful in securing a small grant from The Urgent Response Fund to continue with these newsletters and to hopefully develop some other resources to keep us connected and to keep you singing until we can start our Seagull Café sessions again.

Do you have a good puzzle, recipe or some news to share in the newsletter? If you are on email please email us here marketing@moremu sic.org.uk or call 01524 831997
