RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES

are available to students in every major!

Research is a continuous project; you need to be able to ask questions, work your way around things, and be as patient as possible. Through SOAR, I learned the importance of relying on yourself and trying to find solutions to minor problems on your own.” —JULIANA HADDAD ’23

STUDY ABROAD DESTINATIONS ACROSS THE GLOBE

Gain a

Global Perspective Our Center for Global Education is dedicated to breaking down the borders of your education and expanding your horizons far beyond the Lehigh Valley. Moravian believes that all of its students should get to experience the world—and employers need you to be ready to live and work in a world that demands a global perspective. That’s why we built funding for a study abroad trip into your Elevate experience!

GLOBAL GREYHOUND TRIP

Once you’re a sophomore, you’ll be eligible to participate in a study abroad opportunity, or, as we like to call it, a “Global Greyhound Trip.” Your Elevate experience includes funding for a short-term travel course or experience led by Moravian faculty and staff to an international destination of your choice! You can choose your trip by location or course topic—for example, you can learn about biodiversity and sustainability in Costa Rica or study archaeology in Israel. All trips are open to every major, but some might have additional requirements, such as a language proficiency or prerequisites. Here’s a sampling of where our students traveled in recent years: • Austria • Costa Rica • Czech Republic

• France • Germany • Honduras

• Italy • Spain • Tanzania

SEE THE WORLD

And if you want to take your education even further, consider traveling abroad for an entire semester, taking an Alternative Spring Break trip to volunteer, or interning internationally. The world is yours to discover.

A member of your advising team, your Career Development Strategist will help you define your career goals and work toward them. You’ll meet at least twice a semester to talk about opportunities like internships and co-ops, how to navigate the Career Readiness Digital Badging app, and what your career toolkit should look like. BUILD YOUR DIGITAL RÉSUMÉ

Your Elevate undergraduate experience is going to prepare you for a successful life after graduation, but how will you summarize your four years of college on your one-page résumé? Can you showcase all that you’ve accomplished and learned in your job interviews or grad school applications? Moravian University’s Career Readiness Digital Badges, offered by the Center for Career and Civic Engagement, have you covered, providing the perfect way for you to articulate your Elevate experience and stand out to potential employers or graduate schools. OUR CAREER PROMISE

If you complete all eight badges by the end of your senior year and are not employed within one year of graduating, Moravian will assist with paying your student loans, offer free enrollment in select classes, or provide continued support with networking, job opportunities, résumé updates, and skill-building.

HOUSING

Undergraduate residential students live on campus in traditional residence halls, suites, apartments, fraternity and sorority houses, townhouses, and more. The residence hall experience at Moravian provides students with opportunities to learn from one another and create long-lasting bonds. All on-campus residents have access to a furnished unit, wireless internet, coinless laundry, common lounges, and kitchen facilities, either within the individual unit or in the larger residence hall. We also offer coed and gender-inclusive housing options.

On-campus housing is guaranteed THROUGHOUT YOUR UNDERGRADUATE YEARS.

DINING

Our on-campus dining options are designed for students on any schedule. The Main Street campus dining space, the Star Restaurant, offers made-toorder dishes, including fresh pizza, an allergen-free station, and the Sustainable Table, a station featuring locally sourced foods made fresh for you. DeLight’s Café features light, healthy options and Starbucks, while the Blue and Grey Café is the ultimate grab-and-go spot. Clewell Dining Hall is a favorite among our south campus residents. And don’t forget all the great places to eat out in downtown Bethlehem! You’ll never run out of choices.

The 1742 Experience is a pre-orientation program that offers an opportunity for students to focus on service in the community. This hands-on learning program brings students to campus one week early to build relationships with classmates and to develop a commitment to service and leadership for the common good. HERITAGE DAY

Heritage Day is a celebration of Moravian tradition, community, and service. For one school day during the fall semester, students, faculty, and staff gather to serve their community. Heritage Day is an opportunity for us to learn about the founders of Moravian University and our cultural heritage.

A Sense of

Belonging Moravian University is committed to being a place of equity and diversity, and every ongoing step to ensure this comes from the entire reason Moravian University was founded: education for all. We welcome students of every background and faith, and we celebrate our historic roots in the Moravian Church by continuing our founders’ legacy of crossing borders and overcoming barriers. We want you to express your true self and will do everything we can to make sure you feel supported and at home here!

OFFICE FOR DIVERSITY, EQUITY, AND INCLUSION (DEI)

Members of this office provide leadership and support across the university to support and sustain the development of a diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus culture so that every person has a sense of acceptance, inclusion, and identity. UBUNTU: A PRE-ORIENTATION PROGRAM

This mentorship program provides guidance for new students from historically underrepresented communities in their transition into a predominantly White institution (PWI). Students who participate in the Ubuntu Program will be mentored by current students, faculty, and staff who will help them become familiar with the Moravian University campus through a series of programs, workshops, and activities. OFFICE OF SPIRITUALITY AND INCLUSION

This resource builds an inclusive community by engaging in spiritual dialogue. In addition to counseling, chaplains provide opportunities for worship, discussion, fellowship, education, and personal growth. OFFICE OF DISABILITY AND ACCOMMODATIONS

This office ensures access for every student by removing barriers in design, promoting disability as an aspect of diversity, and creating a campus where access and inclusion are seamless. THE CENTER FOR FIRST-GENERATION STUDENTS

The Center for First-Generation Students (First Hounds) provides a supportive and welcoming community for students who are the first in their family to attend college. Staff members are always available to answer questions.

I have discovered that college is what you make of it,

The Stars

Shine Bright in Bethlehem, PA

Located along the East Coast of the United States, Moravian University calls Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, home. Moravian is actually two campuses, famously linked by the Moravian Mile of Main Street that runs right through the historic downtown. Moravian University’s feel is entwined with that of Bethlehem, carrying both the resilience of its steel-town lore and the lightness of the window candles that glow each night in Moravian tradition.

CULTURE

Bethlehem pulses with concerts, restaurants, arts, and all the local appeal of a college town. Yet it also sits in just the right spot for an easy drive to New York City, Philadelphia, or Washington, DC. Known as the Christmas City, Bethlehem is so regarded for its history that it’s been added to the UNESCO World Heritage Site shortlist, hoping to join such historic sites as Independence Hall, the Statue of Liberty, and the pyramids of Egypt. WEATHER

The Lehigh Valley experiences all four seasons to the fullest. Fall brings crisp sweater weather and colorful leaves. Winter cloaks our campus in snow. Spring offers rain and blooming flowers. And summer is sunny and warm. Every season brings a little something different to Bethlehem, and we love it! SAFETY

The safety of our students is a top priority at Moravian. The Moravian University Campus Police work to maintain a safe and secure environment for everyone and are always available to help, should the need arise. We also offer 24-hour escort and daily shuttle services, as well as emergency blue-light phones throughout campus.
