This week’s Veteran is Bill Eustes, who served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951-1953 as an enlisted aircraft and engine mechanic. Hethengotthe CalltoServeTheLord,and entered college to become a Methodist Minister Eustes was commissioned as an officer Chaplain in 1965-1991 with the U.S. Air Force. His first duty station was Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, then he was sent to Ubon, Thailand, during the Vietnam Conflict. Eustes was also stationedatPopeAirForce Base, Fort Bragg, North Carolina; Eielson AFB in Alaska, near Fairbanks;

Recently, I was invited to visit the Old University Building (OEM) on the campus at Stephen F Austin State University (SFA) in Nacogdoches. As Historian Rebel Joan Of Arc 2721, United Daughters of the Confederacy, there was no hesitation to accept such an invitation.

As my husband, Jim, and I made our annual trek to

Jefferson, Texas, to participate in the Battle of Jefferson re-enactment weekend, we visited the museum housed on the secondfloorofthishistoric building.

To me, it looked like the perfect venue for a southernheritageball.
