CARTA DEL PRESIDENTE MUNICIPAL MAYOR´S LETTER Amigos Visitantes Es para mí muy grato darles la bienvenida, en el marco de la 60 edición del torneo internacional de pesca de Marlín, Pez Vela, Atún y Dorado, que se realizará en nuestra hermosa Bahía.

Este torneo es una tradición del Vallarta de nuestros Amores. Forma parte de la identidad de la región y contribuye a llevar a Puerto Vallarta más allá de las fronteras nacionales.

A todos los participantes les deseo éxito en la competencia y los invito a disfrutar de los múltiples atractivos que tiene nuestra ciudad, como lo es la belleza de sus montañas, su riqueza natural, su diversidad gastronómica, su arquitectura típica, su riqueza cultural y sobre todo la amabilidad de su gente.

THE SPORT FISHING STORY OF PUERTO VALLARTA AND BAHIA DE BANDERAS BAHÍA DE BANDERAS, Majestuosa, una de las Bahías más Bellas y seguras del Mundo, ubicada en el centro de la Costa del maravilloso Océano Pacífico Mexicano , donde el mar se une a las montañas, rodeada de enormes y espectaculares paisajes, Puerto Vallarta es la Joya, es el destino turístico más Amigable del Mundo .

Vivir o disfrutar unos días en este inigualable destino turístico del estado de Jalisco; cuenta la leyenda… que si bebes agua del rio Cuale… te marcara para siempre y te quedaras a vivir en este paradisiaco Puerto.

Todo comenzó en el año de 1955, se reunieron amigos comerciantes, visitantes, constructores del Gobierno del Estado que llegaron al puerto para iniciar algunas obras en beneficio del “Pueblito de Pescadores”, la red de agua potable, pozos hidráulicos y otras obras de relevancia para el desarrollo del pueblo más turístico del país.

Deciden tomar la iniciativa de organizar un torneo de pesca durante el mes de Abril, principalmente de pez vela, lo hicieron dentro de la Bahía de Banderas y el resultado fue un rotundo fracaso con muy poca pesca, no encontraron lo que esperaban " falto la materia prima" ¡Soy un pescador! no es fue la excusa, fue un fracaso deportivo, pero en lo social fue un éxito simplemente lo que hago, ¡es rotundo porque se dio la pauta para el inicio de los torneos de Pesca quien soy! , pescar no sólo Internacionales. es un escape, es a donde verdaderamente pertenezco, ¡donde debo estar! , no es un lugar al que voy, sino un viaje de vida que estoy tomando, es un pasaje que mi Padre me enseñó y que yo enseñaré a otros, cuando enProducto de este fracaso y de la grata experiencia adquirida, este mistiendas todo esto, entonces mo año, pero en el mes de Noviembre, deciden organizar un segundo me conocerás y pescaremos torneo, resultando esta edición un éxito espectacular, ya que capturjuntos. "Después de regresar de un viaje de pesca y en el cual te fue muy mal y te preguntan ¿qué sacaste? Tu respuesta debe ser " lisas y dorados", " lisas las nalgas de permanecer sentado todo el día y el lomo dorado de tanto sol"

aron todos los pez velas que quisieron, el tercer torneo también se consideró un éxito total , tanto en lo social así como en lo deportivo, imperando un entusiasmo formidable par que desde esa fecha, ya sea una tradición que el torneo más importante de pesca deportiva de todo en océano pacífico mexicano se celebre en el mes de Noviembre.

Puerto Vallarta siguió siendo favorecido por la cantidad de pescadores foráneos que nos visitaban, tanto Nacionales como extranjeros y consolidando los siguientes torneos y que además se convirtieron en testigos del constante crecimiento de el puerto, en esos maravillosos tiempos la publicidad de los torneos eran los beneficios que en infraestructura recibía, " vengan a pescar, Vallarta ya tiene alumbrado público las 24 horas del día, ya se construyó un nuevo hotel, la ampliación de otros, la construcción de nuevas fincas, el gran crecimiento turístico que favorecía a este maravilloso lugar " .

Convirtiéndose el Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta como el primer club deportivo que se constituyó en el Puerto, iniciando su grandiosa Historia en el año de 1955 y convirtiéndose en una Asociación Civil en el año de 1960.

Las Damas, las Esposas de los Socios del club de pesca de Puerto Vallarta acudían a los comercios locales a solicitar premios para la mayoría de los pescadores participantes, se premiaba a todos, hasta al pescador que salía y regresaba borracho durante los 3 días de competencia , aquello era una fiesta popular, todos los habitantes par-

ticipaban, acudían enormes concentraciones de personas para presenciar el arribo de pescadores, la segunda fiesta más importante del Puerto, solo superada por la devoción que se tiene a la Patrona de México , ahora dicen, que las costumbres y tradiciones ya se fueron perdiendo y ya no fue posible rescatarlas, los escenarios son otros, los pescadores también son otros, antes se conocían prácticamente a todos, hoy ya no es así, el interés es más comercial que deportivo , quedando solo el recuerdo de aquellas viejas tradiciones que ya desaparecieron, convirtiéndose esto en una feroz competencia entre destinos turísticos, Puerto Vallarta ha resistido, sigue siendo el lugar favorito para decenas de pescadores que año tras año nos favorecen con su participación.

"Se me fue un pez realmente grande" ¿un qué? "un pez grande, el más grande que había prendido" está es la mentira más grande de un pescador, mentira que nadie le cree, pero que sirve para alimentar su ego.

Es el Torneo Internacional de pesca de Marlín, Pez de Vela, Atún y Dorado de Puerto Vallarta el de mayor antigüedad y el más tradicional que se celebra en estas latitudes, por encima de Los Cabos, La Paz, Mazatlán, San Blas, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Ixtapa Zihuatanejo y Acapulco, solo por mencionara algunos de los muchos torneos que se celebran año con año , pero sin duda, el de Puerto Vallarta tiene un toque muy especial ya que es el destino turístico donde se han atrapado los ejemplares más grandes y espectaculares .

Hablar del torneo internacional de pesca y no asociarlo con el desarrollo del Puerto, sería una ingratitud, crecieron de la mano, junto con la línea aérea Mexicana de Aviación, el torneo de pesca ha sido y será siempre el primer promotor turístico de Vallarta, 61 años lo avalan, en tiempos de crisis, en momentos de inseguridad, en alertas de epidemias, el club de pesca es y seguirá siendo siempre un fiel aliado de Puerto Vallarta, de su desarrollo y de su potencial turístico.

El viento y la marea, están a favor, la adrenalina empieza a subir, todo está listo para celebrar la edición número 61 de este maravilloso torneo internacional de pesca de Marlin, Pez Vela, Atún y Dorado, del 16 al 19 de Noviembre de 2016, grandes premios, mucha diversión.

Puerto Vallarta es el destino turístico más seguro de México y te ofrece una garantía, seguro que pescas.

Then, they had a dear idea and organized a fishing tournament, it was the Month of April, and sailed away after sailfish, they did so within the Bahia de Banderas, the result was a rotund fiasco, because of too little fishing was made, since they did not find they had expected. "The raw material did not show up" was the common excuse, and, as such, it was a sporting flop. Nevertheless, it turned up as a great social and touristic success, since it triggered the now acclaimed, Bahia de Banderas’ International fishing tournaments.

As a result of such set-back, and the pleasantly obtained experience, it was decided that in November of that year, to try with a second tournament, resulting that 2nd edition turned up as a spectacular success, as the participants caught as many sailfish as they wanted. The third tournament, was also a complete success, both socially as well as in sport fishing, hence great enthusiasm raised and moved us all to keep it going. Nowadays, it is a complete tradition and it has even reached the category of being the most important Sport fishing tournament all over the Mexican’s- Pacific-Ocean coast line during the Month of November.

Puerto Vallarta continued being favored by the increasing number of foreign fishermen who visited us, and joined the local ones, consolidated the following fishing tournaments. They also witnessed the increasing and steady development of this beautiful port. On those wonderful times when the fishing tournaments were advertised, publications such as, "come to fish, Vallarta already has 24 hours a day street lighting , or, a new hotel is being built , and others are expanding, new villas are constructed, so, the tourism steadily grew on benefiting this wonderful destination.

Hence, Fishing Club of Puerto Vallarta became the first sports club established in Puerto Vallarta, beginning its great fishing trajectory and history in the year 1955,and later, 1960, obtained its registry as a Civil Association.

In the earlier years of the club, many enthusiastic wives of the Puerto Vallarta fishing club members canvassed at local business to request prizes for most participants. Everyone was rewarded, including fisherman who went out and came back drunk during the 3 days of competition! That was a festival, the entire town’s people loved to participate, some large crowds gathered to witness the coming back of fishermen. It was by itself the second largest local party, surpassed only by the devotion

granted to The Virgin of Guadalupe, Mother of Mexico. Nowadays, some customs and traditions have changed and are hard to maintain since the “little Village” no longer exists and the scenarios are different. Even fishermen are not the same. Yesteryears everyone knew practically everyone, unlike today. Yet, now there is more commercial interest than before, and still sweet memories prevail.

Even sport fishing has become a fierce competition among touristic destinations, while Puerto Vallarta has kept its category as it remains the favorite place for dozens of fishermen that year after year come back to participate and enjoy fishing and sharing their remarks.

"It was a really big fish" it got away! Say what?

"The biggest fish I had ever caught," Such is the biggest fantasy of most fishermen, and though not everyone believes it, it certainly helps to feed a funny chat to spend a nice time.

Some local fisherman use to joke after a poor catch fishing trip, and are asked, “What did you catch”?

The plain answer is, “flats and tanned”, flats on the buttocks and tanned sun exposure.

The Puerto Vallarta’s International Fishing Tournament of Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna and Dorado is the oldest and the most traditional event of its kind. It

is placed above Los Cabos, La Paz, Mazatlan, San Blas, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo and Acapulco tournaments, to mention some of the most important in the Pacific Ocean. Certainly, the Puerto Vallarta’s fishing tournament has a very special touch, as it is the destination where the largest and most spectacular examples, have been caught.

It wold be unfair to talk about the international fishing tournament, without intrinsically associate it with the astonishing development of Puerto Vallarta, since they have grown up hand by hand, along with the Mexican airlines. The fishing tournament has been and always will be the first tourist promoter for Puerto Vallarta, and 61 years of continuity back this up. There have been times of economical crisis, times of global insecurity, outbreak alerts and more. Nevertheless, the fishing club is and will always be a solid ally for Puerto Vallarta’s tourism development, economic potential and well gained prestige.

¡CELEBRANDO 20 AÑOS DE ENCUENTROS CON ANTIGUAS AMISTADES! CELEBRITING 20 YEARS OF MEETING WITH OLD FRIENDS! Biol. Astrid Frisch Jordán Ecología y Conservación de Ballenas, AC La apodan Constelación, quizás por su parecido a un cielo estrellado durante el invierno. Se le ha visto en Bahía de Banderas desde 1998 por lo que se presume tendrá entre 25 y 30 años de edad. En 18 años de visitas prácticamente constantes, sabemos que se ausentó de la zona solo durante 5 ocasiones (años) o que quizá simplemente pasó desapercibida.

Como buena chica en plenitud de su vida siempre busca la manera de llamar la atención y en ocasiones ha logrado tener hasta 14 chicos peleando por ella. No solo es coqueta, también es prolífera; a la fecha le conocemos 6 sanos y juguetones ballenatos.

Constelación es una de las pocas ballenas jorobadas fieles a su zona de reproducción y además muestra su aleta caudal con singular alegría y regularidad, lo cual no es común para una hembra, pero que para nosotros es de gran utilidad, ya que así podemos “foto identificarla”.

Las ballenas jorobadas cuentan con un patrón de coloración único en la parte ventral de su aleta caudal o cola, esto aunado al contorno del borde y la hendidura central nos permite identificar a los distintos individuos de una población, como en este caso Constelación cuya clave de catálogo es 4BB006.

Otro antiguo conocido es Camello (4BB010), apodado así por su singular aleta dorsal. Camello es macho y podemos estar seguro de ello no sólo porque lo hemos visto compitiendo despiadadamente con otros machos, sino porque hemos tenido la oportunidad de escucharlo cantar sin la necesidad de un hidrófono (micrófono que se sumerge en el agua para escuchar mejor el canto de las ballenas). Es bien sabido que solamente los machos de ballena jorobada cantan y que lo hacen únicamente durante la época de reproducción. Probablemente de edad similar a Constelación, Camello ha sido observado en Bahía de Banderas más de 40 veces en 17 años de registro, lo que significa que sus periodos de estancia en la Bahía a veces son largos.

Otro de los machos famosos en la región por su fidelidad y largas estancias es Corazón (5BB029), que se olvida su romántico nombre a la hora de enfrascarse en intrincadas batallas con otros machos, pero lo retoma al apostar su esfuerzo por ser el padre de una cría al escoltar a las hembras. De forma similar Radar (3BB007), uno de nuestros más antiguos conocidos conserva un lugar especial en nuestros corazones y en el catálogo, sin embargo se le extraña ya que no se le ha visto por estos rumbos desde el 2009. La lista de amigos es larga, pero no tanto si consideramos que el Catálogo de Fotoidentificación de Ballena Jorobada en Bahía de Banderas (Catálogo FIBB) consta de casi 2,000 ballenas distintas.

Los trabajos de fotoidentificación son muy importantes, pues además de permitirnos reconocer antiguas amistades y aprender un poco más sobre sus historias de vida, son una herramienta única para el estudio y conservación de la especie. Además, por medio de la fotoidentificación podemos estimar la abundancia poblacional, estudiar su comportamiento, distribución, conocer sus rutas migratorias, tasa de nacimientos y mucho más, de ahí su importancia para quienes nos dedicamos su investigación.

En Bahía de Banderas la asociación civil Ecología

En Bahía de Banderas la asociación civil Ecología y Conservación de Ballenas (ECOBAC) trabaja en el catálogo de fotoidentificación de ballena jorobada (Catálogo FIBB) desde 1996, el cual a la fecha consta de casi 2,000 ballenas distintas identificadas y una base de datos de más de 6,000 registros.

El catálogo FIBB es el resultado del trabajo de diversos colaboradores en la Bahía, entre los que se encuentran el Instituto Tecnológico de Bahía de Banderas y Centro Regional de Investigación Pesquera-INP Cruz de Huanacaxtle, los prestadores de servicios turísticos de observación de ballenas: Cielo Abierto, Discover Pacífic Tours, Ecotours de México, Ocean Friendly, Orca de Sayulita, Thalia Martínez, Vallarta Adventures y Whale Watch Vallarta. Debido a que los diferentes colaboradores salen de distintos puntos de Bahía de Banderas (Puerto Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta, Cruz de Huanacaxtle y Punta de Mita) se muestrea al menos el 60% de la extensión de Bahía de Banderas diariamente, con un esfuerzo mínimo de navegación de 12 horas durante la temporada de observación de ballenas. Todo el material es recopilado y clasificado por ECOBAC, siguiendo un plan de trabajo que incluye la recuperación de las fotografías y datos de los distintos colaboradores, clasificación, comparación y finalmente la integración al catálogo, utilizando el archivador de imágenes ACDSEE y la base de datos ACCESS. Agradecemos a todos los colaboradores, estudiantes y voluntarios que nos han ayudado a compilar este grandioso catálogo, gracias a este esfuerzo en conjunto es que podemos celebrar los primeros 20 años del Catálogo FIBB. ¡Estamos listos ya para la próxima temporada de ballenas, en la cual esperamos reencontrarnos con algunas de nuestras antiguas amistades!

She has been seen in Bahia de Banderas since 1998 so, she is suposed to be between 25 and 30 years old.During 18 years of her recurrent visits, we

know that she was absented from this area only in 5 occasions, (years).

It might also be that, she just went unnoticed by most of the local whale watchers.

Likely as any good girl in her prime time of life, she would always seek ways for drawing-up other whale´s attention, and she has usually succeded since, on times, she has been pretended for up to 14 male whales whom had disputed over her preference. Additionally, she is not only coquettish, she also is quite prolific; Up to date we know about 6 of her own healthy and playingful calves.

Constellation is one of the few humpback whales truly loyal to her breeding waters. One of her nice features is that she shows her caudal fin with particular enjoyment and frequency. Such behaviour is not common for a female whale, though, for us, that is quite useful, since we are able to "picture-identify her". Besides, Humpback whales possess a unique pattern of coloration in the ventral part of their caudal fin, or tail, which along with the contour of the edge and its center Groove, allows us to identify different individuals within a population, as is in this case with our welcomed-back visitor, Constellation, whose Catalog Code Number is 4BB006.

Another old acquaintance is known as ¨Camello¨ (Camel) CCN (4BB010), so nicknamed due to his

unique dorsal fin. Camel is a male whale and we can assure it, not only because we have seen him ruthlessly competing with other male peers, but also because we have had the opportunity of hearing him sing without needing any hydrophone (a microphone which is summerged under wáter for better listening to whales singing). It is well known that only male humpback whales sing, and they do so only during the breeding season. Very probably, Camel is nearly about the same age as Constellation is; And he has been observed in Bahia de Banderas more tan 40 times on 17 years of whale-watching recording, which might mean that his staying periods in the Bay are somehow more extended.

Another famous male in this región, for their loyalty and visibly extended-staying periods is ¨Corazon¨(Heart) CCN (5BB029), who puts away his romantic name when engages in great battles against other male whales, though he regains his status when he bears up to be the protective father of a baby calf, or when he is up for escorting female whales.

Similarly Radar,CCN (3BB007), one of our oldest known whales, a full owner of a special place in our hearts, and in our catalog. however it is strange because he has not been seen around here since 2009. The list of whale-friends is quite long, yet not as much, when we realize that, the Photo Iden-

tification Bahia de Banderas Humpback Whale Catalog, (FIBB Catalog ) enlists a recording of nearly 2,000 different humpback whales.

Photo-identification Works, undoubtedly are very important, since they, besides of allowing us to recognize old friends and to learn a little more about their natural life stories; are a unique tool for the studying and preservation of such a wonderful marine species. In addition, through photo-identification we can estimate population growth and abundance, study their behavior, their distribution, to know better about their migratory routes, birth rate and a lot more; hence it is of the greatest importance for us, whom are deeply dedicated to their observation and study.

In Bahia de Banderas, the Ecology and Conservation of Whales prívate association, (ECOBAC) has been permanently updating the catalog of photo-identification of humpback whales (Catalog FIBB) since 1996, Hence, upto date, has recorded The FIBB catalog is an ending endeavour out of a number of valuable supporters in Bahia de Banderas.

Among which, specially, El Instituto Tecnológico de Bahia de Banderas; El Centro Regional de Investigación Pesquera-INP Cruz de Huanacaxtle; touristic whale-watching boat owners: Such as, Cielo Abierto, Discover Pacífic Tours, Ecotours de México, Ocean Friendly, Orca de Sayulita, Thalia Martínez, Vallarta Adventures y Whale Watch Vallarta.

Since different supporters sail out from different docks around Bahia de Banderas, such as, Puerto

Vallarta, Nuevo Vallarta, Cruz de Huanacaxtle and Punta de Mita, at least 60% of Bahia de Banderas sea surface is daily watched during 12 hours a day, throughout the whole whale-watching season, requiring a minimal of navigation effort.

All the obtained data from our allies, is collected and classified at ECOBAC, following a scientific path which includes: Gathering of pictures, important data from several parties, classification, comparison and, finally, updating of the FIBB catalog, at using the archive images ACDSEE and database ACCESS. At ECOBAC, we deeply and sincerely wish to extend our appreciation to every one of our excellent collaborators, to so many dedicated and enthusiastic students and, greatly, to the uncountable volunteers, local and foreign, whom have, so willingly, helped us in the compilation of such an important and great catalog.

Thanks to this joint endeavour, we are able to celebrate the first 20 years of the FIBB catalog.

2º TORNEO DE PESCA INFANTIL BADEBA 2ND KIDS FISHING TOURNAMENT BADEBA Gran ambiente en el 2º Torneo de Pesca Infantil, Celebrado en La Cruz de Huanacaxtle Riviera Nayarit La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nay.- Por segundo año consecutivo la Oficina de Visitantes y Convenciones de la Riviera Nayarit, festejo a los niños de la región con su segundo Torneo Infantil de Pesca en donde se tuvo la participación de alrededor de 300 pequeños, acompañados por sus padres.

La OVC de Riviera Nayarit con la colaboración del club de Pesca de Bahía de Banderas realizó este torneo, en donde todo los pequeños que asistieron se llevaron por lo menos una pelota y una bolsa de dulces a casa, y los más afortunados en la pesca recibieron muy buenos premios, como bicicletas, tabletas electrónicas, juegos de mesa, cortesías

para disfrutar de productos de las firmas patrocinadoras.

Los niños y también los papás disfrutaron de la calidez en el trato de los miembros del Club de Pesca de Bahía de Banderas, ya que recibieron bocadillos, bebidas y hasta alguna golosina durante el desarrollo del torneo.

Se premió a los primeros trece lugares en cada una de las categorías participantes que son de 2 a 6 años y de 7 a 12.

En lo que se refiere a la categoría de 2 a 6 años de edad el ganador fue Chelios Mendoza con un sapo de 995 gramos quien se llevó a casa una hermosa bicicleta. El segundo lugar fue para Kevin Fonseca con un Pez Sapo de 800 gramos; en el tercer lugar terminó Alexa Chaire con un Botete de 745 gramos; el cuarto lugar fue para Janet Alejandra Cárdenas con un Botete de 655 gramos, Joaquín Castillón Acosta fue quinto lugar con un Pargo de 615 gramos; en el sexto lugar finalizó Lynn Michele Ramos con un Botete de 600 gramos; José Pelayo terminó en el séptimo lugar con un Pez Sapo de 565 gramos; el octavo lugar fue para Gael Zaragoza con un Pez Sapo de 515 gramos.

Sebastián Castañeda con un Botete de 460 gramos terminó en el noveno lugar; el décimo lugar fue para Dylan Cornejo con un Pez Sapo de 440 gramos; Pablo Armenta Cortés con un Botete de 425 gramos termino en el onceavo lugar; Héctor Rodríguez con un Caimancillo de 425 gramos terminó en el lugar 12 y en el trece finalizó Renata Guerrero con un Caimancillo de 390 gramos.

En la categoría de 7-12 años el primer lugar fue para la niña Alondra Peña con un Pez Sapo de 1265 gramos; el segundo lugar fue para Oscar Topete con un Pez Sapo de 1050 gramos; Algo Aguilar García fue tercer lugar con un Pez Sapo de 945 gramos. Aldair Torres Rodríguez fue cuar-

Joyful ambient at the Riviera Nayarit’s 2nd Children’s Fishing Contest.

La Cruz de Huanacaxtle, Nay.- For second consecutive year, the Convention and Visitors Bureau of Riviera Nayarit, celebrated children of the Bahia de Banderas region with its 2nd. Children’s Fishing Contest, accomplished with the enthusiastic participation of 300 kids, cheered-up by their caring parents.

The CVB of Riviera Nayarit team-worked with the Bahia de Banderas’ Fishing Club in making possible such a joyful contest, where all the children whom attended, happily took home at least a ball and a bag of candies, while and the luckiest in fishing received quite good prizes, such as bicycles, electronic tablets, table games, as well as coupons to be exchanged by gifts provided by the generous sponsoring firms.

All children and their loving parents enjoyed the warmth and kindness granted by most of Bahia de Banderas’ Fishing Club members, whom, freely, gifted them with snacks, drinks, and treats during the competition.

Also, the top thirteen catches were awarded, in each of the, 2 to 6 years old and 7 to 12 years old, participating categories.

Salieron ganadoras Alina y Ariel en el 27 Torneo Infantil de Pesca

Puerto Vallarta, Jal.- Una vez más, el Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta cumplió con creces las expectativas, al festejar este domingo en los peines de Marina Vallarta El Día del Niño con su 27 Torneo de Pesca Infantil, en donde se tuvo la participación de más de 500 jovencitos, repartidos en dos categorías.

Desde las ocho de la mañana en las instala-

ciones de Marina Vallarta en los muelles M y N dio inicio la pesca y de inmediato empezó el desfile de pequeños llevando sus capturas para ser pesados y posteriormente liberados y regresados al agua.

Gabriel Montiel, Presidente del Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta un numeroso staf que se las sabe de todas todas, fueron los anfitriones de más de 500 como sucede cada año, les regalaron playeras, se entregaron muchos botes con cerda, plomo y anzuelo además de carnada para que nadie se quedara sin participar.

Hubo también bocadillos, bebidas, tostadas de ceviche, helado y sobre todo un gran ambiente de fiesta. Para los menos afortunados hubo pelotas y bolos de dulces, y los que mejor suerte tuvieron en la competencia se llevaron a casa algún bonito regalo, pues se entregaron seis bicicletas, dos triciclos, cuatro tabletas electrónicas, juegos de mesa y otros regalos, además de cortesías para consumir alimentos o adquirir productos con diferentes firmas comerciales.

Se premió a los 18 primeros lugares en cada una de las categorías contempladas en la convocatoria.

En la categoría de 2-6 años la gran triunfadora fue la pequeña Alina Martínez quien presentó un sapo de 1365 gramos; en el segundo lugar terminó Marcos Cortés Luna con un sapo de 735 graos; el tercer lugar fue para Santiago Espinoza con una manta de 700 gramos, Mairyam Canales Yerena con un sapo de 510 gramos se ubicó en el cuarto lugar, Yhuseua Organis fue quinta con un botete de 455 gramos; Bruno Espinoza capturo un botete de 325 gramos y fue sexto luna; Airam Oliva Gutiérrez fue séptimo con un chihuil de 300 gramos; Uzias Jasiel García terminó en octavo lugar con un sapo de 260 gramos, Alan Michel Uribe con un chihuil de 220 gramos fue noveno y el décimo lugar fue para Joaquín Arturo Castillón con un chihuil de 220 gramos.

Dentro de la categoría de 7-12 años, el primer lugar fue para la pequeña Ariel Espinoza con un sapo de 1420 gramos; Sebastián Troje fue segundo lugar con un sapo de 1190 gramos, en el tercer lugar terminó Rubén Mancha Torres con un chihuil de 845 gramos; Angel Ramiro Silva terminó en el cuarto lugar con una manta de 800 gramos; Jesús Tadeo fue quinto con un sapo de 760 gramos, Israel Alexander de Anda fue sexto con un sapo de 705 gramos; Mauro Cázarez con una raya de 660 gramos terminó en el séptimo lugar; arlos Santiago Grajales terminó en octavo con un sapo de 655 gramos, Alondra Jazmín Peña fue décima con una anguila de 635 gramos y en el décimo lugar fue para Estrella Cuevas Vargas con un chihuil de 580 gramos.

El Presidente del Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta, Gabriel Montiel, estuvo acompañado de Eulogio López y de algunos representantes de las firmas patrocinadoras, quienes hicieron la entrega de los premios a los que se hicieron merecedores los 18 primeros lugares de cada categoría.

Alina and Ariel came out as winners at the 27th. Children’s Fishing contest.

Puerto Vallarta, Jal.- One more time, The Fishing Club of Puerto Vallarta fulfilled all expectations at celebrating Children’s Day, with the 27th. Edition of the Children’s fishing contest, held past sunday at the docks of Marina Vallarta.

More than 500 enthusiasticaly eagered kids enrolled for their participation and were registered into two categories, ranging from 2 to 6 years old and from 7 to 12 years old.

It all started since 8:00 AM in the premises of Marina Vallarta, at the docks M & N where they little kids started fishing, and immediately began the parade for carrying their catch to be weighed and, after that, releasing and returning their catch into the water.

Gabriel Montiel, President of The Fishing Club of Puerto Vallarta was backed-up by a largely skilled and experienced staff that, gladly, hosted more than 500 delighted kids. And as has happened in previous years, Mr. Montiel’s staff provided to the participants with T-shirts, and also with cans, fishing line, lead, hook, and fishing bait to make sure no one was left out of participating.

They also made available some delicious snacks, drinks, ceviche tostadas, ice cream. And above all a great-party atmosphere was enjoyed by everyone. Most of them received at least, bags filled with candies or playing balls, while those who had better luck as a good catch were prized and took home a very nice souvenir.

Prizes included six bikes, two tricycles, four electronic tablets, table games. Some other gifts were given as tokens or courtesy coupons to exchange for food or to buy discounted products at different local sponsors of this remarkable event.

In the 2 to 6 years old category, these were the top ten prized winners: In this category, the big winner was the little girl, Alina Martínez who caught a 1,365 grams fish; In second place, Marcos Cortés presented a 735 grams piece; The third place went to Santiago Espinoza with a 700 grams catch; Mairyam Channels Yerena with a 510 grams was ranked fourth; In fifth Yhuseua Organis caught a 455 grams fish; Bruno Espinoza captured a 325 grams fish and was in sixth place; Airam Oliva Gutiérrez was seventh with a 300 grams catch.

Uzziah Jaasiel Garcia finished in eighth place with a 260 grams fish, Alan Michel Uribe with a 220 grams catch was ninth and tenth place went to Joaquin

Arturo Castillón a 220 grams piece.

10º TORNEO DE PESCA BAHÍA DE BANDERAS 10TH FISHING TOURNAMENT BAHIA DE BANDERAS LOS CUBANOS SON CAMPEONES DEL 10º TORNEO DE PESCA DE MARLIN Y ATÚN, BAHÍA DE BANDERAS 2016 Ángel Alonso, César Pérez, José Ulises Larrañaga y José Regalado González formaron el equipo de Los Cubanos y se convirtieron en los campeones del Torneo Internacional de Pesca de Marlin y Atún, de Bahía de Banderas, al registrar un Marlin de 176 kilos.

En el segundo lugar terminó el mismo equipo de Los Cubanos con su primera captura del torneo, un Marlin de 141 kilos, en tanto que el tercer lugar de la categoría de Marlín fue para el equipo de Cheo’s.

En la categoría de Pez Vela, el equipo ganador fue Chitos Team conformado por Andrés Famania, Eduardo Terrones, Ricardo Elizondo y Ricardo Olivas quienes participaron en la Embarcación El Amo. El equipo de Chitos Team, presentó un picudo de 29.6 kilogramos y fueron los únicos que clasificaron en esta especie.

Las especies de Atún y Dorado se declararon desiertas. Tras finalizar con la entrega de premios a los equipos que tuvieron pesca en este torneo, se procedió a la rifa de algunos regalos por parte del Club de Pesca hasta que se llegó al platillo principal y se rifó un Motor Fuera de Borda de 15 Caballos de Fuerza, que se lo llevó el equipo de La Nona, encabezados por Giorgio Simone, Marcel

A pesar de que no se registró mucha pesca, el torneo se desarrolló con un buen ambiente y el Presidente del Club de Pesca de Bahía de Banderas, David Zaragoza, se mostró contento con el evento que encabezó, con buenas capturas, con un gran ambiente y cerrando el torneo con 25 quipos en competencia.

Second place belonged to Los Cubanos fishing team as well, due to their first catch of this tournament, a Marlín weighing 310.8 pounds, while the third place in the category went to the team of

On the Sailfish category, the winning team was Chitos, formed by AndrĂŠs FamanĂ­a, Eduardo Terrones, Ricardo Elizondo and Ricardo Olivas whom participated aboard the Vessel El Amo. They registered a 65 pounds sailfish and they were the only team classified in this fishery.

The Tuna and the Dorado fishing categories were declared deserted.

Once the participating fishing teams of the tournament were awarded, a joyful and pleasant ceremony, an attractive gifts raffle followed on, where the largest attraction was an15 Hp. Outboard engine, which was won by the team of La Nona, led by Giorgio Simone, Marcel Poffet, Teo Poffet and Alfredo Esquel Crown raffled.

Even though the reported catch was not as considerable as in other editions, the whole event took place within a good atmosphere of camaraderie, and it showed in the joy of the President of the fishing Club Bahia de Banderas, Mr. David Zaragoza, who was totally pleased with the good catches and whereabouts of the tournament.

The 10th. edition, Bahia de Banderas Fishing Tournament hosted 25 fishing teams.

60 TH INTERNATIONAL TOURNAMENT MARLIN AND SAILFISH FISHING TOURNAMENT PUERTO VALLARTA En la jornada final Quijote se lleva el premio para Pez Vela Buen sabor de boca dejo el 60 Torneo Internacional de Pesca de Marlin y Pez Vela de Puerto Vallarta, que cerró el pasado fin de semana con una verdadera fiesta, a la que acudieron cientos de aficionados para conocer a quienes resultaron campeones del evento.

Vendrán ahora cambios en la dirigencia del Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta y el objetivo seguirá siendo el ofrecer un evento de calidad, bien planeado, con premios atractivos y donde el principal festejado de esta fiesta siga siendo el pescador,

La mayor novedad que se dio en la última jornada de pesca en donde la sorpresa la dio el equipo de Quijote, quienes llegaron muy temprano a la zona de pesaje para presentar un pez vela de 34.7 kilos, que les sirvió para coronarse campeones de esta edición número 60 y hacerse mecedores de una embarcación Nava como premio a su esfuerzo de toda la semana.

En la entrega de premios a los ganadores, se reconoció a dos socios fundadores de este evento que son el señor Ignacio Zaragoza y Leocadio Curiel, quienes hace 59 años fueron parte del nacimiento del torneo y que de puro gusto en esta edición número 60 salieron a pescar nuevamente como en sus mejores años.

Fue también un evento en donde se contó con un excelente ambiente de principio a fin y que terminó la noche del jueves con la entrega de premios a los ganadores.

La cota quedó hecha para el año próximo en la edición número 61.

A most remarkable event happened in the very last day of this fishing tournament, when, surprisingly, the Don Quixote’s fishing crew reported in at the weighing area and presented an impressive 34.7 Kilograms (76.5 pounds) sailfish, which entitled them and crowned their efforts as the 60th edition-tournament’s champions, After all great effort follows up a great reward, hence a Brand new Naval boat was awarded to the now proud Quijote’s crew. It was a well earned pay-back for a week-long- effort.

Overall, it was a quite memorable event, surrounded by an excellent and joyful atmosphere from start to finish, which ended on Thursday night with a ceremony where the winners received their well earned awards, as well as sport-fishing fans’ congratulations.

It should be mentioned that, during the awards presenting ceremony, distinguished mention and recognition was granted to both, Mr. Ignacio Zaragoza, as well as to Mr. Leocadio Curiel, whom have had key roles since the birth of our now internationally famous fishing tournament which started 59 years ago.

Let’s just remark that, just for the fun of it, they also went out to the open-sea-fishing challenge, as they have done for many years.

Now, that is endurance and, of course, they are up to participate in the 61st edition.

The Fishing tournament organizers and its great staff, are bidden to make our best in offering a high quality, attractive, and well planned yearly event, within which the sport-fishermen become the centre of our celebration and goals.

Apilar of importance of his contribution to the development and prmotion of arts in Puerto Vallarta.

In his long career dedicated to painting, he has created an extensive body of work using a wide variety of styles and techniques. In the early seventies his work appeared with strength in the local artistic ambiance and, according to his formal and thematic content, he set up the artistic style that represents and defines the cultural identity of Puerto Vallarta when Javier Niño was born in 1950,Puerto Vallarta´s population was just five thoussand inhabitants.

A town totally isolated, accesible only by boat or horses; wild a place, away from civility and culture of other cities. At an early age he expressed his interest and talent for drawing. He gained some fame among his class-mates in elementar schol from drawings and caricatures he created.

During the adolescence, Javier Niño continued to

develop his natural talent by using graphite and ink. Arguably this, his first artistic period followed the naive style yet lacking technical and academic knowledge, his work was the result of pure creative intuition. His paintings reflected his sourrounding with a basic outline and elemental composition, without perspective or volume.

Javier Niño was hungry to know and experience different styles and artistic movements became the main reason for his life. He produces impressionist work exploring themes of universalreading, going beyond his local environment. He tried abstraction and geometry and even discovered the joy of automatic creation which refers to the canons of surrealism and the work that the creator does in the absence of consciousness executing just what the intellect and unfiltered amotion dictates.

In 1970, Javier Niño emigrated to Mexico DF: His parents had sent him there to study law. But Javier Niño das others plans., and Without the consent of his family, he enrolled at the best art school of the country: the Escuela Nacional de Artes Plasticas, the Academia de San Carlos, to study painting.

Javier Niño is one of the main architects and exponents of Arte Vallarta. His artictic style gives identity to Puerto vallarta and allows people to recognize its culture.

This institution,founded en 1781 by King carlos III of Spain, was the first acadey in the Americas

and hosted the first art museum in Latin America. During his years of training in san Carlos, the technical and theorical art knowledge he set out to achieve, prevened him from sticking to the artistic currents of fashion. He persisted in finding new stylistic challenges that could result in a greater personal satifaction. In 1973, Javier Niño returned to his native Puerto Vallarta. The work he produced focused on the theme of Vallarta showed increased strength and solidity.

In 2012 the municipal government paid tribute to Javier Niño in recognition of his forty year career. the event was held at the Genius of Paco Studio & Gallery.

That same year, his work was exhibited at the National Museum of Mexican Art, Chicago, Illinois and the embassy od Mexico in Lisbon, Portugal.

Space management in his work has gained obvious dimension and depth in very balanced and neat compositions in wich realistic elements appear on pleasant coexistence with other elements and contexts and only, at first glance, of naive conception.

In 1978 Javier Niño organized along with the Vallarta Group, José Marca, Juan Pueblo and Kathy Huet, the first Vallartian Art Show, exhibited at the Puerto Vallarta Camino Real Hotel, and later on, in Marina del Rey, CA. Sponsored by Sister Cities in 1980 and 1981, Javier Niño traveled to Santa Barbara for the execution of two ephemeral murals in the Casa de la raza. On both occasions, his work was exhibited at the Arlington Theatre. In 1984, a new exhibition was held at the Santa Barbara Couthouse.In 1985, together with Manuel Unzueta, he painted the mural “The Brotherhood” for the Santa Barbara Junior High School. That same year, his work was exhibited at the 3215 East Foothill, Los Angeles, California.Perhaps impelled by his consistent appetite for learning new techniques and resources for artistic creation, at the that time, Javier Niño, decided to join the Rafael Cauduro`s workshop where he remained for several months.

Javier Niño exhibited in the national capital at the Casa de la Cultura Benito Juarez (1988) and the Hotel Crown Plaza Holiday Inn(1992). In 1993, he exhibitedat the santa Barbara War Museum and created a mural for the ISSSTE Puerto Vallarta. He then taught an art workshop for students at Isla Vista School in Goleta, CA: In 2004 Javier Niño painted the mural “Friendship” in Highland Park, Illinois and received from the mayor, the Kings onf the City.

In 2006 he exhibited at the Port Clinton Art Festival in Highland Park and participated, in the auction “New Yorker Passport to the Arts”, in New York.

In two years his work was selected as the image for the International Sailfish Tournament Puerto Vallarta, in 2011 he completed the mural “Allegory” installed at the Gustavo Dias Ordaz International Airport in Puerto Vallarta.

REGLAS OFICIALES DEL CLUB DE PESCA PUERTO VALLARTA 2016 1.Este torneo está abierto para todos los EQUIPOS que se registren debidamente y se comprometan a cumplir todas las reglas del Torneo, a someterse a las disposiciones del Juez, del Comité de Honor y Justicia, y las reglas contempladas por la Ley General de Pesca y Acuacultura Sustentables así como la Secretaria de Comunicaciones y Transportes.

Límites de captura según las reglas de pesca deportiva en México: 10 ejemplares diarios por pescador con la siguiente composición: a)No más de cinco de la misma especie. b)Cuando se trate de Marlín, Pez Vela, Pez Espada y Tiburón, el límite Máximo por pescador y día será de un solo ejemplar, el cual será equivalente a cinco de otras especies.

Los permisos de navegación y de pesca deportiva y recreativa corren por cuenta de los participantes, así como el trámite ante las autoridades correspondientes.

2. Cada equipo contará con un máximo de cuatro pescadores, aunque está permitido que se registren equipos con un menor número de participantes. No hay restricción sobre el número de invitados. Cada equipo designará un capitán que representará al equipo.

3.Las especies que califican son: MARLIN, PEZ VELA, ATUN Y DORADO. 4. Con el afán de proteger a las especies, solo calificaran MARLÍN DE MÁS DE 100 KG, PEZ VELA DE MÁS DE 25 KG., ATÚN DE MÁS DE 30 KG Y DORADO DE MÁS DE 10 KG. 5.Sugerimos soltar a los especímenes que a juicio de los participantes estén por debajo de las tallas mínimas, no existirá penalización si algún concursante trae a pesaje algún ejemplar menor al límite de peso.

6.Serán declarados CAMPEONES por especie, los equipos que capturen el Marlín, Pez Vela, Atún o Dorado de mayor peso. Solo en caso de empate, se tomara como base la medida de los peces; primero el largo y luego el contorno. (En

tal caso las medidas serán las indicadas por las reglas de la IGFA. De persistir el empate ganará, el pez que se haya registrado primero).

En el caso del PEZ VELA Y MARLIN los equipos además podrán participar en la modalidad de CAPTURAR Y LIBERAR (CATCH AND RELEASE) y será declarado Campeón el equipo con mayor número de capturas que acerquen a la embarcación y liberen previo video que indique fecha y hora de la captura y liberación. Los equipos que quieran participar en esta modalidad deberán traer su propia cámara de video con dispositivo que pueda conectarse a una computadora para su copia, la cual deberá presentar el día de las inscripciones (Se proporcionara mayor información el día de las inscripciones). Se recomienda utilizar el anzuelo TIP “CIRCLE HOOK” o tipo JAPONES para facilitar la liberación de los PEZ VELA y MARLIN 7.En esta competencia se permitirán ÚNICAMENTE el USO o TRAER A BORDO de la embarcación la línea hasta de 130 LBS. De resistencia. Cañas y Carretes a discreción del pescador, se prohíbe el uso de carretes electrónicos. El Comité Organizador cuando considere necesario podrá pedirle a cualquier concursante una muestra del equipo y línea de pesca para su revisión. No hay restricción respecto al número de cañas y carretes que puede usar el equipo o embarcación registrado.

8.Cuando se haga la captura de algún pez, es obligatorio presentar evidencias bajo las siguientes indicaciones: a)Toda captura deberá de ser comprobada por medio de un video, ya sea con videocámara o celular. b)La filmación se hará en plena acción de la pesca, proporcionando evidencia de la captura, el arribo y puesta a bordo de dicha captura y la banderola y la banderola que se entregara cada día de pesca. c)Este video deberá mostrarse en la mesa de jueces al momento del registro y presentación de la captura. d)El comité revisara cada video; éste analizará

su contenido y de no ser favorable podrá invalidar la boleta de pesaje y hasta la descalificación del equipo.

9.IMPORTANTE: Toda embarcación deberá retirar el equipo de pesca no permitido para su uso como: anzuelos dobles, arpones y en general artes de pesca no permitidos.

10.Sólo se permite como máximo dos (2) anzuelos sencillos por empate siguiendo los lineamientos de la IGFA (International Game Fish Asociation). Se prohíbe el uso de anzuelos dobles, (ver dibujo)

11.Los peces deberán ser capturados con carnadas o señuelos y serán acercados a la embarcación sin más ayuda que el carrete y la caña.

QUEDA PROHIBIDO EL USO DE MECHUDO.Solo se permitirán 4.50mts. De sedal doble y otro tanto empate (leader). La suma de los dos no excederá 9.00mts. No podrán descansarse las cañas sobre la borda y ninguna persona podrá durante la pelea de un ejemplar tocar la caña, carrete o línea del participante.

12.SON CAUSAS DE DESCALIFICACIÓN: a)Contravenir en cualquier forma las disposiciones de estas bases. b)Que personas ajenas al equipo ajusten el carrete, o maniobren cualquier parte del equipo durante la pesca. Se prohíbe agarrar la línea doble. Sólo se permitirá que uno de los tripulantes tome el empate para arrimar al pez al costado de la lancha. No hay restricción alguna sobre el número de personas que ayuden a subir al animal a la lancha. NO SE PERMITIRA EL USO DE GANCHOS PARA PEZ VELA sin embargo para las otras especies sí está permitido. c)Que en su embarcación permitan pescar a personas no inscritas en el equipo. d)Presentar cualquier pez que no haya sido capturado por el equipo en forma reglamentaria durante el día de pesca. e)Cualquier pez herido por la propela (que penetre o rasgue la carne), mordida de tiburón, arpón, proyectil, o arma de fuego, o por cualquier objeto punzo cortante. f)NO SERÁ MOTIVO DE DESCALIFICACIÓN LA

RUPTURA DEL PICO DEL ANIMAL, CUALQUIERA QUE FUERA SU CAUSA. g)El Comité Organizador deberá abrir los ejemplares que ocupen los tres primeros lugares de cada día. En caso de encontrarse algún objeto extraño del animal introducido a propósito para aumentar su peso, será descalificado junto con todas las capturas del equipo de ese día. h)Los participantes o embarcaciones que no permitan la inspección del Comité Organizador a la embarcación. i)Llevar a bordo cualquier objeto de pesca que no sea el registrado. Así como arpones, chinchorros, tarrayas, cimbras y en general artes de pesca que no sean las permitidas. j)Que algún participante se comporte en forma antideportiva o con falta de probidad durante el desarrollo del torneo. k)Será causa de descalificación del o los participantes en el torneo, proferir agresiones físicas y/o verbales al Juez del Torneo y a sus ayudantes. En caso de que ocurra esto serán sometidos al comité de Honor y Justicia y se descalificaran a los participantes que incurran en estas faltas.

13.En caso de avería de alguna embarcación o que por su lentitud no pueda llegar a tiempo para que sus ejemplares sean pesados, éstos pueden ser transferidos a otra embarcación que la presente en su nombre ante el juez. En caso que la embarcación que preste auxilio y transporte no llegue a tiempo el pesaje, no podrá ser usado como excusa y la pesca de ambas no podrá ser registrada.

14.Los concursantes deberán estar presentes en el Malecón frente al Hotel Rosita, el día y hora de la inauguración del torneo que se efectuará a las 7.00 hrs. del centro y deberán esperar la orden de salida del juez. En caso de que cualquier embarcación salga antes del disparo u orden de salida de la dársena, los pescadores participantes inscritos de esa embarcación serán descalificados durante ese día de pesca.

15.Las embarcaciones deberán reportar diariamente la hora de salida a pescar lo mismo a su regreso de acuerdo al horario permitido en el programa, no se permitirá que ninguna embarcación salga o regrese de otro punto que no sean los lugares oficiales de salida, la falta de cumplimiento de esta regla descalificara a los que incurran en ella.

16.El Comité Organizador tiene facultades para prolongar, acortar o suspender el torneo por situaciones climatológicas o por cualquier otra causa de fuerza mayor.

24.El solo hecho de inscribirse y participar en este torneo de pesca, obliga al participante a leer, conocer y cumplir con las reglas de este torneo.

17.Fungirá como juez el Sr. Capitán Cipriano Quintero Montes (Pano) y sus fallos serán inapelables cuando se presente una situación no específicamente reglamentada, el criterio del Juez así como del Comité Organizador de Honor y Justicia serán inapelables.

25.El Comité Organizador se reserva a su criterio, el derecho de admisión de cualquier persona, embarcación o tripulación que quiera inscribirse y participar en el torneo.

18.El pesaje de los ejemplares dará inicio a las 13:00 hrs. y terminará con el horario del programa. Es obligación que el equipo concursante, registre sus capturas. Previa autorización del Comité Organizador debido a causas de fuerza mayor y justificada, los ejemplares podrán ser presentados por otra persona.

19.Los peces de mayor peso de cada día serán objeto de minucioso examen por parte de biólogos y del Juez del Torneo, por lo que las boletas de pesaje tendrán validez después de dicho examen.

20.Todos los ejemplares presentados a pesaje pasaran a ser propiedad del club de pesca, los cuales serán donados a instituciones de beneficencia social, si algún concursante desea montar su ejemplar se le proporcionara la piel 21.Cualquier protesta de un participante debidamente registrado relacionada con esta competencia, deberá ser presentada por el capitán del equipo por escrito y firmada al Juez teniendo como limite las 19:00 hrs. del mismo día en que se registre el motivo de la misma.

22.Para mayor seguridad de los participantes contaremos con vigilancia marítima por parte de la Secretaria de Marina, Capitanía de Puerto, la inspección y vigilancia pesquera se hace con personal dependiente de la Comisión Nacional de Pesca y Acuacultura Sustentables. El Comité Organizador bajo ninguna circunstancia se hace responsable de cualquier percance o accidente que pudiesen tener los concursantes o embarcaciones durante el torneo.

23.Los concursantes, pescadores, embarcaciones, capitanes y tripulaciones que sean descalificados en el torneo, podrán ser vetados de torneos futuros organizados por el Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta, A.C., y pueden ser boletinados a otros Clubes de Pesca y organizadores de otros Torneos.

FISHING CLUB´S OFFICIAL RULES PUERTO VALLARTA 2016 1.This tournament is open to all TEAMS that are properly registered and are committed to following all rules of the tournament, to comply with the provisions of the Judge, the Honour and Justice Committee, and the rules set by the Ley General de Acuacultura y Sustentables and Secretary of Communications and Transport.

Limits of catches by Sport Fishing Regulations in México: 10 catches per day per fisherman with the following quota limits per species: a) Not more than five fish of any one species. b) Regarding Marlins, Sailfish, Swordfish and Shark, the maximum limit for each sport fisherman will be of one specimen per day; any catch of these species is to be considered equivalent to five specimens of any other.

Sports fishing and navigating licenses are the responsibility of the participants and the proceedings before the proper authorities.

2.Each party will consist of a maximum of four fishermen, although teams are allowed to register with a smaller number of participants. There is no restriction on the number of guests.

Each team will designate a captain to represent the team.

3.Species that qualify are: MARLIN, SAILFISH, TUNA and MAHI-MAHI. 4.In an effort to protect species, only MARLIN OF OVER 100 KGS, SAILFISH OF MORE THAN 25 KGS, TUNA FOR OVER 30 KGS AND MAHI-MAHI FOR OVER 10 KGS qualify.

5.We suggest releasing the specimens that, in the opinion of the participants, are below the minimum sizes, there is no penalty if a competitor brings a specimen weighing less than the weight limit.

6.CHAMPIONS will be declared by species, teams catching the heaviest Marlin, Sailfish, Tuna or Mahi-Mahi. In case of a tie, the taken action will be based on the fish’s size first, its length and then its outline.

(In this case the action shall be as set by the IGFA rules. If the tie persists, the fish that was registered first will win).

In the case of SAILFISH and MARLIN teams may also participate in the mode of CATCH AND RELEASE and the winning team with the highest number of catches which came to the boat and released previously have taken a video with date and hour of the catch and release shall be declared. Teams wishing to participate in this modality should bring their own digital camera device that can plug in to a computer to copy videos, with clean memory device and its battery charged, which shall be submitted the day of registration (further information will be provided on the day of registration). We recommend using the bait TIP “CIRCLE HOOK” or Japanese-style to make easy the release of sailfish.

7.In this competition the USE or BRING ABOARD the boat line up of 130 LBS will be allowed ONLY. Resistance Rods and reels are discretion of the fisherman, prohibits the use of electronic throttles. Whenever the Organizing Committee deemed necessary can ask a sample of equipment and fishing line for review to any participant. There is no restriction on the number of rods and reels that you can use in the team or vessel registered.

8.It is mandatory, to show live-video recorded evidence on the catching of a fish, as in real time and under the following guidelines: a)Within competition standards, the catching of fish must be proven by showing a recorded video, either a video camera or a cell phone can be used on such. b)The filming lenght will include: the catching of the fish, the on-boarding of the piece, the arrival, and the tournament flag, supplied for each fishing boat. c)The video recordings must be released onto the Tournament´s Judges Board, at the moment of the logging and presentation of the competitor's catch. d)The Boards of Judges shall thoroughly review each video and its contents. e)The Board of Judges will state their most careful opinion regarding acceptance of rejection for the provided video recordings. They shall retain the right to invalidate the logging and /or the weighing ticket, and even to disregard the fishing team’s claim, when solid grounds of unfairness be found.

9.IMPORTANT: Each vessel has to remove all the fishing equipment that is not allowed for use, such as double hooks, harpoons and fishing gear that are generally not allowed.

10.Only a maximum of two (2) simple hooks for a draw along the lines of the IGFA (International Game Fish Association) are allowed. The use of double hooks is forbidden (see picture).

11.Fish should be caught with bait or lures and will be brought close to the boat without more help than the reel and rod. IT IS FORBIDDEN TO USE Moppers. Only 4.50 meters of double line are allowed and the same tie (leader). The sum of the two shall not exceed 9.00mts. The rod can not rest on the side and no person shall, during the fight of one individual, touch the rod, reel or line of the participant.

12.GROUNDS FOR DISQUALIFICATION: a)To contravene in any way the provisions of these rules. b)People outside the team to fit the reel, or any part of the team maneuver while fishing. It is forbidden to grasp the double line. Only allow one crew member to take the tie to bring close the fish alongside the boat. There are no restrictions on the number of people to help get the animal on the boat. IT IS NOT ALLOWED TO USE GAFFS FOR SAILFISH however for other species it is permissible. c)To permit persons not registered on the computer to fish on the boat. d)Submit any fish not captured by the team in a regulation during the fishing day. e)Any fish struck by the propeller (which penetrate or tear the flesh), shark bite, spear, missile, or firearm or any object cutting stitches.

BREAKAGE OF BEAKS WILL NOT BE CAUSE FOR DISQUALIFICATION, whatever its cause. f)The Organizing Committee will open the specimens that occupy the top three of each day. If a foreign object found in the animal is introduced on purpose to increase their weight, they will be disqualified along with all the team catches on that day. g)The participants or vessels who not allow inspec-

tion of the ship by the Organizing Committee. h)Carry on board any fishing object other than the registered. Just as harpoons, fishnets, formwork and general fishing gear other than those permitted. i)If a participant behaves unsportsmanlike or dishonestly in the course of the tournament. j) Utter physical and/or verbal aggression to Tournament Judge and his assistants may result in disqualification of participants in the tournament.

If this happens the case will be submitted to the Honor and Justice Committee who will disqualify participants who engage in such misconduct.

13.In case of failure of any vessel or because of slowness cannot reach in time due to their specimens being weighted up; they can be transferred to another vessel that should be presented in representation to the judge. In case the boat to render assistance and transportation arrives late to the weighing, this may not be used as an excuse and fishing for both may not be registered.

14.Contestants must be present at Malecรณn front to Hotel Rosita, the date and time of the inauguration of the tournament to be held at 7:00 am central time of Mexico City, and have to wait out the order of the judge. If any vessel part before shooting out or order out of the dock, fishermen and registered participants will be disqualified from that vessel during that fishing day.

15.Vessels must report daily departure time the same on return according to the schedule allowed in the program, no vessel is allowed leaving or returning to another point than the official places of departure, the lack of compliance of this rule will disqualify those who engage in it.

16.The Organizing Committee has the authority to extend, shorten or suspend the tournament for weather situations or any other cause of force majeure.

17.Acting as judge Captain Cipriano (Pano) Quintero Montes and its rulings are final when presented with a situation not specifically regulated the approach of the Judge and the Honor and Justice Organizing Committee are final.

18.The weighing of the specimens will begin at 13:00 hrs, ending with the program schedule. It is an obligation of the contestant team, to record their catches. With the permission of the Organizing Committee due to force majeure and justified,

specimens may be submitted by another person.

19.The heaviest fish of each day will be subject to careful scrutiny by biologists and the Judge of the Tournament, so the tickets will be valid after weighing review.

20.All specimens submitted to weigh will become the property of the Fishing Club, whenever a fisherman wants to mount a specimen the skin will be provided. Every specimen with a minor weigh of the required presented to the Judge will be destined to associations of social benefit.

21.Any protest of a duly registered participant related to this competition must be submitted by the team captain in writing and signed to the Judge having as a limit 19:00 pm. the same day that the reason is recorded.

22.For safety of participants there will be maritime surveillance by the Secretary of the Navy, Port Captain, the inspection and fisheries monitory is by personnel of Comisiรณn Nacional de Pesca y Acuacultura Sustentables. The Organizing Committee under no circumstances can be held responsible for any mishap or accident that might occur to the contestants or boats during the tournament.

23.Contestants, fishing, boats, captains and crews who are disqualified in the tournament, may be banned from future tournaments organized by the Club de Pesca de Puerto Vallarta A.C., and can be bulletined to other fishing clubs and organizers of other tournaments.

24.Simple registration and participation in this fishing tournament, binds the participants to read, understand and comply with the rules of this tournament.

25.The Organizing Committee in its discretion reserves the right to admit any person, vessel or crew who wants to join and participate in the tournament.

LEY DE PESCA DEPORTIVA EN MÉXICO SPORT FISHING LAW IN MEXICO En México se destinan exclusivamente a la pesca deportiva, dentro de una franja de 50 millas náuticas contadas a partir de la línea de base desde la cual se mide el Mar Territorial, un total de 9 especies: 6 denominadas como “Picudos” (4 tipos de Marlin; Pez Vela y Pez Espada) además del Sábalo, Pez Gallo y Pez Dorado.

Queda Prohibido realizar actos de pesca comercial al amparo del permiso de pesca deportiva o simular actos de pesca deportiva con el propósito de lucro. Se prohíbe también el fileteo a bordo y solo podrán destinarse a su consumo doméstico o para su montaje en taxidermia.

Mexico has selected nine fish species and reserved them exclusively for the activity of sport fishing practiced in the area located within the first 50 nautical miles measured from the sea-shore. Six of these species are commonly known as “Picudos” (Billfish), these include 4 species of Marlin; Sailfish and Swordfish, in addition to Tarpon fish, Roosterfish and Mahi-mahi (also known as Dorado).

Sport fishing permits strictly prohibits any commercial fishing activity or making any monetary gain from their use. On-board filleting is also forbidden and catches must be destined for personal consumption or taxidermy mounts.

Es obligación del pescador deportivo contar con su permiso de pesca deportiva, los que se expedirán a personas físicas nacionales o extranjeras, tanto individuales como por embarcación, de acuerdo a la Ley Federal de Derechos.

It is compulsory for every sport fisherman to have a license to practice the activity. Licenses and boat permits will be issued to Mexican nationals or foreign individuals, according to Mexican Federal Duty Law.

El pescador deportivo debe respetar las disposiciones federales en cuanto a tallas mínimas, vedas y solo podrá utilizar caña o línea con anzuelo, con carnada o señuelo.

Sport fishermen must abide by Federal dispositions regarding minimum sizes, fishing bans and may only use fishing poles, reels, lines with hooks and with or without bait or lures.

Sport fishing service providers must keep and present when required a fishing log (which is available at the CONAPESCA web site).

Los límites de captura son 5 ejemplares diarios por pescador en aguas continentales y 10 en aguas marinas, con la siguiente composición por especie:

Catches are limited to five fish daily per sport fisherman in freshwaters and ten fish in saltwater, with the following quota limits per species:

a) No más de cinco de una misma especie. b) Cuando se trate de Marlin, Pez Vela, Pez Espada y Tiburón, el límite máximo por pescador y día será de un solo ejemplar, el cual será equivalente a cinco de otras especies. c) En el caso de Sábalo, Pez Dorado o Pez Gallo, el límite máximo será de dos ejemplares, los que también serán equivalentes a cinco organismos.
