Photographer Martin Brace had a 4am start to capture this moment of sheer beauty at a nature reserve in North Devon, for our November photo of the month.

“I am keen wildlife photographer with my main subject of interest being insects particularly butterflies, dragonflies and damsels,” Martin told Molton Monthly.

“This rare meadow flower is as beautiful as the butterfly itself and certainly made the early morning rise worthwhile.”

We seemed to have an amazing amount and variety of butterflies this year, especially in the warm weather through September.
